Unfortunately the amount of capital work stock (buildings) is far less than the demand for places, so they are always running behind with providing people with homes. Once upon a time you could buy your housing trust house, and do so at low rates over a long period of time. Those days are long gone and the state of the situation these days is the people who apply in need may have to wait several years before they come up on the list of people in line. It is a sad and sorry state of affairs that many people are in need of a home and unable to get one, and things are not necessarily getting better. The positive thing is that we have a system that actually provides housing, it is simply a shame that it is not funded adequately by the State and Commonwealth Governments and there have been no innovations for many years such as courting the involvement of private business, although those sorts of innovations are gradually starting to happen now.

(i've been coming here since i was 8 years old. you'd think i'd get some respect for being civil during all the unnecessary incarcerations for victimless crimes without charge.) i was hanging out man... and had a broken hand from punching the cell door . a dumb idea i learnt from a heroin junkie to try and get to hospital. i was desperately hoping i could get some medication because i was hanging out like it was the day before payday. anyway. i painted the fluorescent bathed white tile walls with blood splatter. to protest the staff sergeant not sending me to hospital on the thursday because "he'd seen worse. you can get that fixed after you see the judge." with the watch house doctor standing next to him as he shut the door i had just broken my hand on. leaving me ,begging on my knees, with that broken hand bone and to later on ,have a withdrawal seizure that could of killed me. There was not many workplaces better than this room full of intelligent, experienced, talkative and assertive teachers/professionals/office workers to help me with work experience, which is what I remembered from my first visit to DECS. I soon realised I had to quickly adapt and give an impression that I was knowledgeable and talkative as well. What I loved most about my co-workers here was that they were exceptionally generous (offering free food, seats and professional future career advice), this was a relationship I wanted to continue for as long as I could. They were so nice to me, from beginning to end! I knew from the chemistry I had with my co-workers here that I was going to last a long time here. So if you're a struggling parent or student, or know someone that is lost in the SA schooling/education system, give this department a call. They know everything about what it takes to succeed in education in South Australia (especially in the city and regional schools).
