Drivers License Exam Station - Front view of the Edmond DPS. Yes, it's still open! IDK why Yelp shows them as closed!

Wait time is 3 hours in a small room packed with narrow, uncomfortable chairs. No television playing news, no elevator music overhead. Just mind-numbing silence with all of the other cattle. AND they couldn't be bothered enough to disinfect the vision test machine during the coronavirus outbreak!

The guy that came in to tell everyone that they'd have to get new numbers, since their system was down, was pretty crappy. Very bossy and sarcastic. He either really hates his job, or he was picked on in school. The inefficiency is almost indescribable, but I'll give it a go. We got there at 7:00 AM this morning. There was already a sign on the (down) kiosk that said there would be a 6-hour wait. I found that hard to believe. I mean, I've sat in the DPS waiting room before, but am normally out in a couple of hours. Nope, these guys were almost spot on. 5 1/2 hours later, we got called and taken care of. Out of 5 windows, there were only 2-3 being worked (mostly 2). The "bossy/sarcastic guy" even laughed when someone joked about the long wait. He said that it didn't bother him at all, but couldn't say the same for everyone having to wait. I was able to use this experience to teach my oldest son about how freaking incompetent and inefficient government-run entities are. They have a monopoly on licensing, can treat people like crap if they choose, and can take their own sweet time. If you've been there all day, and it gets to be their closing time, they're happy to tell you that you can come back the following morning and try again. The only way around this is to pay them to reserve an appointment, which is 3-4 weeks out at the earliest. Let me get this straight.....you have to PAY them, on top of what you already pay them with your tax dollars, to reserve a spot. How about hiring more people? How about reviewing the existing processes (clearly broken)? While these complaints tend to be the norm for most DPS/DMV offices, add in the "Edmond attitude" (everyone outside of Edmond knows what I'm talking about) to this place, and you've got the perfect combination for a miserable day. Your tax dollars at work!

With the new system you need to bring your birth certificate to get a new ID due to them loosing your previous info. Waste of time and good energy just for them to have to refund me my 77 dollars back. Half the workers seemed irritated. No welcome in the line starts here or anything. Every now and then Oppenheimer and Bohr popped by to join in on the staring of the screen. I came in to register two motorcycles. Well after literally an hour (they had to redo the entire sequence 3 x because it "timed out") I walked out with 1.5 registrations. They gave me a month and a year sticker for one of the bikes...hallelujah! Alas, I wasn't so luck on the second. I manage to only walk out with a January...no year. No worries though. I can't imagine anything else I'd rather do that go back and hobnob with the geniuses tomorrow. ***Follow Up*** So I went in this morning with the registration that should have had a year tag affixed but did not. The genius at the counter took my registration to the back office. Out comes king of the tag agency with my registration. He states that it had the year on it originally and pointed to two "staple holes". Mind you, I had taken a picture of the document that clearly shows no holes. He says that I can pay to replace or pound sand basically. I went back to my office to examine his genius work product and found that he had simply taken a staple remover and clipped two holes in the document that he called staple holes. If you have ever compared staple holes to staple removal holes (god pitty you if you have) you would clearly note that staple removal holes are about a 1.5mm narrower than staple holes as a true genius must have surmised that is optimal for removing said staple. Our tag agency king genius must have not thought that through fully. I gathered all of my evidence and went to the king of king of tag agencies the DMV "Service Oklahoma". I laid out all of my evidence and they put my in touch with their partnership brass (the people who authorize the tag agency affiliates) and I have lodged a formal complaint against these idiots...err geniuses. The state officials stated that all the tag agency had to do was simply give me another year sticker and this could have all been remedied. They chose not to do that and now they are about to go through some things. By the way...tampering with a official state document surely isn't legal right?? Might need to get the po po involved.

My son told me Oklahoma doesn't have DMV offices and you have to go to a Tag Agency. I have to say this was so much better than the horrible DMV offices in Nevada. You have to have an appointment like 3 months in advance if you can get one. Before the pandemic you could just walk-in , but you would be there for hours trying to get something done with all the California people moving there and some from other places. This was so much better of an experience ! Everyone was so nice as most of the people I've dealt with in Oklahoma. It reminds me of the small town I grew up in South Carolina in the 70's and 80's. I had to do 2 different lines. The first was a young lady who did my registration , plate , and sticker. She also informed me that I would have to get a new title to register in Oklahoma. I've never heard that before , but I guess they do that in some states. She also went out to my SUV to verify the VIN. Thankfully it's not lifted since she could barely get up to see it without getting on the tire , it is a Toyota FJ Cruiser 4x4 so it does sit higher than most standard SUVs. The 2nd line I showed all my documentation to this lady to verify I had everything to get my new Oklahoma Drivers License. She arranged everything neatly to give to the another lady when it was my turn and also reminded me to let her know that I had Motorcycle Endorsement also so it could be listed on my Oklahoma License. There were a few people ahead of me for the Drivers License so I did have to wait over an hour , but they had chairs and the lady would talk to me and the others waiting as she was helping someone else. I only had to wait behind one person for the registration and they had 3 people working that counter. The drivers license lady also added my Veterans Status and Real ID on my license since I brought in my Passport . I'm not complaining , as I said in Las Vegas it would take you usually 3 hours or more at the DMV before they started doing appointments and still it takes at least an hour to do your stuff. I highly recommend this location for your drivers license , registration , etc.
