We have been customers of Malone Heat & Air since moving to Signal Mountain 24 years ago and have…read morenothing but praise for them. Call at night: they're available. Call on a weekend: same story. Last week a heat pump failed early Wednesday morning. The heat pump was installed 23 years ago. We've had the same Malone tech serving our units for over 20 years and if not for his attention that unit would likely have needed replacement years earlier. When Chris told us it was time for a new unit we had every confidence in his judgement, particularly when our research indicated most heat pumps have an expected lifespan of 15 years. We were provided an estimate for a replacement unit Wednesday afternoon and the unit was up and running Friday morning. Can't ask for better service than that.

I've had an extremely negative experience working with Malone Heat & Air over the past few months…read moreto the extent that I've resolved to find another HVAC company. I started having issues with my HVAC freezing up and failing to distribute air to my house in March, at which point a technician told me I simply needed to change my air filters. Months passed, and the problem got worse. I decided to call Malone Heat & Air because they had the serial numbers for my HVAC parts and I assumed they'd done good work before. About six weeks ago, they sent another technician, at which point my air conditioning barely functioned. This technician now told me one of the condensers needed to be replace and I, as a lay person, believed him. A week later another technician came to replace the condenser, though $700 down the drain later, the issue wasn't resolved. Another technician came out a week later to tell me that the issue was actually with my blower motor and that the frozen pipe on my HVAC unit, which had been a persistent issue, was a clear sign that there was a problem with the blower motor. When I asked why no one had picked this up over the course of months, he shrugged his shoulders and said he didn't know. Another week passed, by which point my air conditioning would only function for a few hours or so a day before crapping out. When a technician came to install the blower motor, he started working on it only to claim that the supplier sent the wrong blower motor and that they would send someone to the supplier to figure out what had gone wrong and to get a new blower motor. When I called the next week, they told me the part was on the way and would come in on either Tuesday or Wednesday. When I called on Wednesday, someone in the office told me the part was back ordered and they didn't know when it would come in, and the employee denied that anyone had told me the part was on its way and sarcastically asked if I wanted to cancel the part when I asked what they could do to try to fix the situation. Reluctantly, the employee assured me that the owner would call me the next morning, where I planned to ask why they had told me so many contradicting stories--How could the supplier have sent the wrong part if it was back ordered? How could it be "on the way" if the supplier hadn't had it in stock the whole time. That same employee called me the next morning to tell me he'd found a supplier on the west coast who could replace the part, then assured me that the owner would call me later in the morning to help remedy the situation, though the owner never called me, and it took another few days to finally do the repair, meaning it took Malone over five weeks to fix a simple component failure, leaving my house between 84 and 86 degrees for over a month. In short, Malone failed to diagnose a simple component failure multiple times, charged me for parts and repairs I didn't need, then yanked me around for weeks about how they couldn't get the right part in, only to miraculously find a solution when I insisted on talking to the owner and only for the owner to avoid talking to me about it. This is absolutely shameful behavior, and I can't think of a position or job I've held elsewhere where this kind of conduct with costumers is acceptable.
