Tagaytay has long been a quick getaway destination especially for those of us who live in the south…read moreof Manila. A very welcome change is the complex built by Robinson's Land collectively called Summit Ridge. Aside from the hotel, it's a very convenient stop as the shopping or mall area has several restaurants like Gilligan's, Razon's, Shakey's, Hap Chan, Starbucks, etcetera. There are also specialty stores at the second level for other needs. What I like most about Summit Ridge is that there's a supermarket (Robinson's, ofcourse) where we can get last minute or emergency stuff we fail to bring to an out of town trip. There's also several stalls (tiangge) in the open area selling an assortment of items from clothes, shoes, souvenir items and even delicacies. For those who do not necessarily intend to purchase anything and just need a toilet break, you'll be glad to know that theirs is quite spacious and kept relatively clean most of the time.

I'd rather spend my extra money on traveling. I'm a bit of a cheapskate but having investment pieces and quality clothes and stuff in my wardrobe is essential. The same goes for everyone really. Over the years, I've become a smart cookie on budgeting. Money doesn't grow on trees, you can't just blow it all off on material things, I'm not a trust-fund baby and I don't jump on a bed full of money everyday (although I'm dying to do that because it seems like fun - maybe paper money would suffice..). With outlet stores you can buy from your favorite high end brands in great discounted prices. Paseo De Santa Rosa carries both local and international brands so there are a lot of choices to choose from. Now you know where to shop. You're welcome! ;)

Whenever my grandma goes home from the US, we visit her in her Sta. Rosa, Laguna house. She just…read moregot home recently and we decided to give her a visit. We also wanted to take her out shopping, maybe even lunch and a movie if she feels like it, at SM Aura or Alabang Town Center. But we realized that it would be impractical because of the traffic (which might take us an hour just going to and from the mall) and the toll fees. Then Lola suggested SM Sta. Rosa instead. We didn't know there was one really nearby, so yay! PROS: It's along Laguna's major highway and easily accessible from the South Luzon Expressway (SLEX) as well; There's a lot of available parking spaces. CONS: It doesn't have a lot of establishments, like those that we're used to in Manila; It was a three-day sale when we went there! It was so crowded that we had to fall in line for about 15 minutes just to grab lunch at a Barrio Fiesta. TL;DR: It has pretty convenient location for those dwelling in Laguna, but avoid sales like the plague.
