I dropped off a couple of pairs of sweat pants marked with pins as to what length I wanted them shortened. When I returned to pick them up I learned they do not have regular store hours. I had to make 3 trips to finally find them open and to retrieve my sweats. Then when I put them on, I learned they had not been shortened at all; simply the pins had been removed. read more

This is the worst tailor shop ever. He made me prepay and it wasn't too expensive but still annoying. He said it would take him one day I went back after two days and he said he hadn't done it and to give him 30 min and he would be done. I sent someone else to pick them up for me and this is what I got back. Wrong thread and wrong color. WORST IVE EVER SEEN. Don't go I trusted the good reviews and got screwed. read more

I've been there about five times now and the young man has always done my work. It's well done and very affordable. And it's always done in a couple of days. Been trying to get some pants back for over 2 months now and this person isn't responsive and hasn't been open and when I had finally made it through it was excuse after I cause as to why the pants weren't done they told me to come back on a Saturday and they haven't been open since. This place is awesome! The guy that works there is so nice. I had an emergency, my husbands dress pants ripped and he needed them back within the hour. I found this place off of sheer luck and the man was very understanding and fixed the pants on the spot! and get this, he didn't even charge me. I was so thankful and wanted to pay but he insisted not to worry about it. I think he was only going to charge me a dollar so it wasn't a big deal, but it really was the thought that counts. When I went in a second time, again was in a rush, my husband needed some suit pants tailored and needed them the same day. The same man that helped me the first time was able to fix the pants and didn't even charge for the rush. I will continue to go here and I highly recommend this place! And as far as the lady I seen a few people mention on reviews below, I haven't seen her or had to interact with anyone other than the man. So I wouldn't make that a deterring factor on going or not. read more

I rushed over here to get my son's pants altered because they closed at 6pm. There was less than 5 minutes before closing and the gentleman (I forgot his name, not the owner) still assisted us. I told him we can come back to pick it up another day but he was nice enough to do it the same day so we wouldn't have to come back. Awesome!!! My son didn't get a chance to try on his pants before we left but I was trusting the previous Yelp reviews. They were perfect! It cost $10.00 and they only accepted cash. The prior tailors were kind professional and aimed to please. With a struggling economy you would think that customer retention would be first priority but not the case with the current tailor. I took a dress to get altered and they gave me a day and time I could pick it up, I went in the day of my special occasion and it was closed long before there closing time. If an establishment is to close early they should let you know beforehand or call the customers who were going in that day. I was very disappointed as I went in an hour before closing time and no one was there. The tailor, while nice and polite, lost one of my shirts, altered a shirt I didn't want altered and basically ruined the other two shirts, one of which wound up with sleeves of different sizes. I was extremely disappointed. I lost my money and my shirts but, more importantly, my time was wasted. I won't waste any more time, even trying to get reimbursed, which he said he would for the lost shirt. I had purchased an adorable pant suit to wear to a much anticipated wedding. That morning as I took it out of the closet, I noticed a hole... A HOLE! There it was, at the bottom of the zipper. Not being the type that enjoys exposing my underwear at weddings, I was freaking out. I called around to seamstresses and tailors in the area, everyone was closed so early in the morning... and then I called Sergio's Tailor Shop. The gentleman on the phone was so nice, he told me to come right over. When I got there, he stopped what he was doing and went right to work. This man (who I'm assuming was Sergio because his talent deserves his name on the shop) was magic. In less than 3 minutes, it was as if that hole had never existed! To top it off, what he wanted to charge me was so minimal, I felt I was cheating him so I just about begged him to keep the change. In short, he could have charged me triple and because of my situation, I would have gladly paid it. He didn't jack up his price and he was just such a nice, talented man. Not a single person speaks English, they charged a person that referred me $30 for adding pockets to a pair of shorts and after I dropped mine off, called and told me $30 PER POCKET. Absolutely absurd and the language barrier was impossible to communicate with them. Do not recommend. read more

First they over charge me for changing a zipper, the place across the street (directly in front of the J street intersection) charges $8 and they use the exact same zipper, Sergios charged me $15. Then, I pick up my "fixed" pants, take them home, put them on and immediately the zipper snaps and tears. I come back telling them they didn't sow it on properly, and tell them they must fix it, they tell me it will be ready in 3 days. I come back in 10 days and they tell me they have not fixed the pants yet because they misplaced them!! Unbelievable! Go to the place across the street instead (next to the liquor store in front of auto zone). I have wasted to much gas and time coming back and forth due to their horrible UPDATE: the zipper broke AGAIN they actually don't know how to fix zippers read more

I needed an alteration for a business suit. I asked the if they could do it for the same day. The guy told me he could and he'd have it ready by 4pm. When I came back around 4:10 it was ready, perfect and he DID NOT charge me for rushing the job. He did the job perfectly, on time and no extra charge. So I bring in 4 of my favorite jeans that I bought too long. I asked for the original hem at the bottom so that they wouldn't have that weird folded in look that other tailors leave. (Does anyone know what I'm talking about? ) The husband and wife team are not very talkative but its because they appear super busy and "aint nobody got time fo dat" chit-chat. 1-day turnaround and the end result was 4 perfectly hemmed jeans! My husband took in a couple pairs of jeans he needed the belt loops repaired on. They did a terrific job for a low price and he was very happy. I then took a pair of my own jeans that had a couple holes in them to have them patched in. I'd had a different shop do this for me a few years back. When I went in, the blonde attendant lady didn't greet me. She just stared at me blankly. I thought for a moment I had done something wrong. I quickly explained why I was there and she wrote me a slip for my jeans, which indicated they would be $4 to fix. When I came back the next day as requested, the same lady met me in the same way. No warmth or even a greeting at all. I handed her my slip and she retrieved the jeans for me. When she was walking back, she saw that the dog they had in the shop was being friendly with me, and she gently swatted the dog with my jeans. She then handed them to me and didn't show me what work was done or anything. She simply said it would be $4. And here's the kicker... I handed her a $5 and she said "Have a nice day." I was so flabbergasted at the whole experience that I cut my losses and left. The repair work on the jeans themselves isn't as good as what I've experienced in the past. Sure, they sewed up the holes, but they didn't put any adhesive or trim out the loose threads. As a result, the jeans feel itchy in the spots they tried to repair. I'm glad my husband was happy with this place, but I was quite disappointed and won't be coming back. I can live with the jeans being a bit uncomfortable, but the blonde lady working there really turned me off from doing business with them again. read more

STAY AWAY If you want the best for your clothes. I recently went to Sergio because I needed 3 denim pants and 3 scrub pants fixed. I needed all of them to be more snug and a little shorter. I tried on every single one and had exact measurements to ensure the pants would come out good. I paid $112 which I thought was a lot, but also you get what you pay for. I didn't have much urgency but wanted them as soon as I could, he said it would take two days. By the second day, i gave him a call and said he would barley would get started, and he needed two more days. I understood, so I didn't really care. When I picked them up and tried them on, they were ruined. My scrub pants would not go over my calf, Sergio made them with little care, and seems like even forgot about the measurements we agreed on. All the pants are ruined and cannot be worn anymore. His excuse was that he had many orders and did not have time to put detail, he is really unprofessional and would stay away at all costs. read more
