They did a good job and got it out to me fast, but the seamstress was unfortunately both unkind and unprofessional towards me. This isn't a business I recommend going to if you are a sensitive individual and have anxiety. I left feeling uncomfortable and crying, so I will not be back because of this. I reached out to Flora via text on Friday evening (9pm), looking for same day service. Flora said she was available now (Remember, it's 9pm!!!). I didn't think she was going to respond at 9pm. I wasn't able to make it at 9pm, but she was available the following morning. I needed my pants to be hemmed up, one inch. She had me try on my pants, with my shoes, and asked me to come back in an hour. Less than one hour later, my pants were ready for pickup, and she did a Great Job!!! Flora is excellent, she is so skilled and efficient and a kind person as well. Her pricing is very fair, especially given how quickly she is able to provide service. I brought in a couple vintage items, including a had me down dress with torn sleeves I thought I had damaged beyond repair, and she was able to alter it beautifully. As strong supporters of small, local businesses, we made a point to bring our business to her in the hopes of finding a trustworthy, skilled tailor we could continue to go to for years to come. Sadly, what we experienced was deeply disappointing on multiple levels - from poor communication and rude behavior to a complete lack of professionalism and care. From our very first phone call, Flora's tone was abrupt and cold. While I can appreciate someone who is efficient and direct, her approach came across as unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Despite that, I chose to move forward, hoping that her work would speak for itself. I had asked her before any work began how much it would cost to have the dress hemmed just a few inches. She clearly stated $50. Though that seemed a bit high for such a simple alteration, I agreed to the price in good faith. However, after she completed the job, she called to let me know it was ready - and casually informed me the total was now $70. There had been no mention of a price change, no added work discussed, and no prior communication. I was completely blindsided. When I questioned the increase, she offered no explanation nor did she offer an apology. That alone left me frustrated and disheartened. But what I discovered when I got home was even worse. This dress is my wedding dress - something I entrusted to her with the expectation of care and attention. When I tried it on at home, I was utterly speechless to find that the train had four visible dark skid marks on the fabric - clear streaks that absolutely were not there before. I don't know how this could have happened during a simple hem, and even more upsetting, there was no mention of any issue when we picked it up. It's hard to describe the level of complete heartbreak I felt in that moment. Now, just 2 weeks out from my wedding, I'm having to get this special piece to the dry cleaners. To say I'm disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. What should have been a simple and joyful step in preparing for my wedding has now become a source of stress and extreme sadness. I called around 11am to ask about cinching in my waist on my Levi jeans. I spoke with a young man. He said just to let him know when I was thinking about coming by. I asked if he could do same day and the pricing. I wanted to make sure that the jeans could be adjusted based on my weight. Which he informed me the cost could be $5 to $15. I brought a pair of pants to show a previous alteration that I had on another Levi Jean. A woman greeted me. She took one look at it and said I can do that didn't even have to put on the pants. You can tell that she has been doing this for a while because all she needed to do was look at was my waist and started to do the alteration right in front of me, the process took about 10 minutes. Friendly, fast, cheap family shop. Dona was even able to eyeball my tailoring of my waist without me trying it on and got it right, showing she's been doing this for a long time. This is definitely a place for quick fixes and simple tailoring. She took my expensive jeans in at the waist with some super simple stitch work and left the jeans in tact (no cutting) so that I can always undo the tailoring if I need to in the future.
