I went to Flora's to get some pants hemmed. If you want same day alterations, this is the place to go. She is pretty quick. She did the hemming right then and there for me. For four pairs of pants, I was in and out of there in about 40 min, so be prepared to try on your clothes and wait a little bit depending on how much you need done. The entrance is thru the back alley way. You can park in her driveways but don't block other cars. Went in with a friend to fix two dresses since they were a bit too long. She has you change in a small room outside than you walk inside and she will measure what she's cutting. Than she will tell you when to come back. She told us an hour so we went to go eat. I reached out to Flora via text on Friday evening (9pm), looking for same day service. Flora said she was available now (Remember, it's 9pm!!!). I didn't think she was going to respond at 9pm. As strong supporters of small, local businesses, we made a point to bring our business to her in the hopes of finding a trustworthy, skilled tailor we could continue to go to for years to come. Sadly, what we experienced was deeply disappointing on multiple levels - from poor communication and rude behavior to a complete lack of professionalism and care. From our very first phone call, Flora's tone was abrupt and cold. While I can appreciate someone who is efficient and direct, her approach came across as unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Despite that, I chose to move forward, hoping that her work would speak for itself. I had asked her before any work began how much it would cost to have the dress hemmed just a few inches. She clearly stated $50. Though that seemed a bit high for such a simple alteration, I agreed to the price in good faith. However, after she completed the job, she called to let me know it was ready - and casually informed me the total was now $70. There had been no mention of a price change, no added work discussed, and no prior communication. I was completely blindsided. When I questioned the increase, she offered no explanation nor did she offer an apology. That alone left me frustrated and disheartened. But what I discovered when I got home was even worse. This dress is my wedding dress - something I entrusted to her with the expectation of care and attention. When I tried it on at home, I was utterly speechless to find that the train had four visible dark skid marks on the fabric - clear streaks that absolutely were not there before. I don't know how this could have happened during a simple hem, and even more upsetting, there was no mention of any issue when we picked it up. It's hard to describe the level of complete heartbreak I felt in that moment. Now, just 2 weeks out from my wedding, I'm having to get this special piece to the dry cleaners. To say I'm disappointed doesn't even begin to cover it. What should have been a simple and joyful step in preparing for my wedding has now become a source of stress and extreme sadness. I expected honesty, professionalism, and a basic level of care - all of which were glaringly absent in this experience. This was not just a bad business transaction; it felt like a total disregard for the trust a customer places in someone handling something as meaningful as a wedding dress. I called around 11am to ask about cinching in my waist on my Levi jeans. I spoke with a young man. He said just to let him know when I was thinking about coming by. I asked if he could do same day and the pricing. I wanted to make sure that the jeans could be adjusted based on my weight. Which he informed me the cost could be $5 to $15. I brought a pair of pants to show a previous alteration that I had on another Levi Jean. A woman greeted me. She took one look at it and said I can do that didn't even have to put on the pants. You can tell that she has been doing this for a while because all she needed to do was look at was my waist and started to do the alteration right in front of me, the process took about 10 minutes. Before she finalized everything she had me try them on and they fit perfectly. She was super friendly & professional. I will definitely be coming back. At the end it ended up being $20 read more
