For four pairs of pants, I was in and out of there in about 40 min, so be prepared to try on your clothes and wait a little bit depending on how much you need done. I was in a bind and needed a jumpsuit hemmed for a wedding reception the next day at 3pm. It was the night before around 7pm and finding a seamstress that was available in the evening seemed impossible as most places close at 6pm. I called the number and a sweet woman answered (I assumed was Flora) in Spanish (I'm not fluent on Spanish). I asked if she could hem my pants tomorrow and she said come at 10am. I asked if it could be completed by 11am which she said she was unsure but then requested I come that evening. I was surprised that she was available that late but was happy to hear she could get my outfit done. She texted me her address and I drove to the location. Once I arrived, Flora was the kindest woman and asked that I put the jumpsuit on. She asked if I was going to wear flats or heels as that would help her accurately measure the length. As strong supporters of small, local businesses, we made a point to bring our business to her in the hopes of finding a trustworthy, skilled tailor we could continue to go to for years to come. Sadly, what we experienced was deeply disappointing on multiple levels - from poor communication and rude behavior to a complete lack of professionalism and care. From our very first phone call, Flora's tone was abrupt and cold. While I can appreciate someone who is efficient and direct, her approach came across as unnecessarily rude and dismissive. Despite that, I chose to move forward, hoping that her work would speak for itself. I had asked her before any work began how much it would cost to have the dress hemmed just a few inches. She clearly stated $50. Though that seemed a bit high for such a simple alteration, I agreed to the price in good faith. However, after she completed the job, she called to let me know it was ready - and casually informed me the total was now $70. There had been no mention of a price change, no added work discussed, and no prior communication. I was completely blindsided. When I questioned the increase, she offered no explanation nor did she offer an apology. That alone left me frustrated and disheartened. But what I discovered when I got home was even worse. This dress is my wedding dress - something I entrusted to her with the expectation of care and attention. When I tried it on at home, I was utterly speechless to find that the train had four visible dark skid marks on the fabric - clear streaks that absolutely were not there before. I don't know how this could have happened during a simple hem, and even more upsetting, there was no mention of any issue when we picked it up. It's hard to describe the level of complete heartbreak I felt in that moment. Now, just 2 weeks out from my wedding, I'm having to get this special piece to the dry cleaners.
