I will start by saying this isn't to bash the establishment. This review is in the hopes that the establishment will understand my disappointment in my most recent interaction. I have been coming to do my tailoring and alterations with this group of woman for 10 years now. I always had a very pleasant experience. The prices would fluctuate through the years but I never minded paying at all just because of how much I liked there work. Nor did I ever in the past comment about there pricing, until my most recent interaction. Again I've been coming for a long time. I've sent family, friends. Coworkers. They would all tell me how pleasant of a experience they have had throughout the years as well. Even when I moved out to Jamul/Rancho San Diego I would still make the commute to have my items specifically done by this establishment. My most recent experience, I dropped off two items to be attended to. I was given a price, I agreed to said price and even had the price written on my paper ticket, as always. I was informed it would be done in one week. I said, "perfect". I needed the item in exactly that time for a work event. A week later I come in, both items are not ready, I was a bit bothered. I asked why that was and when will they be ready. I was told. In one week. I am a very calm person, I thought no reason to get upset. I trust these women, I know they will do a great job and I would just have to look for a replacement pair of trousers for my work event to make due. I did notice that they didn't seem to care that the item wasn't ready, no apology for it either. Which I thought odd. Maybe isn't wasn't warranted in there eyes? I was given my paper ticket back and said thank you and goodbye. I come back one week later to pick up. I was given both items. This time I noticed that one pair had many loose threads, two missing loops. I was upset but I thought to myself that I was just glad to have them ready. I didn't feel the need to bring up the issues. I thought to let it slide since this has never happened before. I approach the counter and then I am told a new total amount. Not ludicrously higher but just not the amount I was told nor the amount on the ticket. I asked why? The kind young lady said she would ask. The young lady came back with another colleague and the immediate response was to show me the paper receipt. Keep in mind when I initially dropped of the two items. This colleague was the one who had done the paper receipt for me and given the original quoted amount. The colleague for some reason spoke to me in a negative tone. She has never spoken to me this way before. She broke down the amount and then she noticed. There was a missing amount she forgot to write on my paper receipt. A mistake she had made and just admitted to doing. I couldn't understand why after all these years, always having a good experience. Never complaining or ever saying anything negative about this establishment that her initial reaction was to treat me as someone she doesn't know who is looking for a quick discount. I could tell she was upset, maybe about something else? I decided to say "thank you for explaining it to me" and pay and leave. This review isn't about the money. It's about the fact that I've been coming for so long and even though for the first time there work wasn't the best. I still didn't say anything and was still treated in this situation as someone new who again was just looking for some kind of discount for there work. I'm disappointed more than anything. I wish I could say I will be coming back but I realized I stayed quiet in this situation and even then it was somehow my fault. read more

I'm at a loss for words at the service I just experienced, really. I've been to this tailor a few times as a "that'll do" solution after my favorite tailoring shop closed and the work has been alright. Last week, I took a turtleneck to this shop asking if they could replicate the mock neck length from another shirt that I have and love. The lady measured the neckline at 1 1/2 inches, wrote it down on the ticket and sent me on my merry way. When I picked the shirt up today and got home to try it on, I realized the neckline was nowhere near a mock neck. I pulled out a measuring tape and compared the shirts (photo). They cut it a half an inch short, which makes a big difference on. I gave them a call to see if there was anything that could be done to fix this and was met with rudeness. The lady who measured the shirt initially wasn't even the one to do the work. It was assigned to someone else who did the work based on the measly "1 1/2 inch" written on the ticket that came with it. She then tried to gaslight me into saying that I must have it wrong when I was literally staring at the measuring tape reading 1 inch. When I asked for a refund she said there was nothing she could do even though they're the ones who messed up the work?? How are you refusing to take accountability for your own screw up? Anyways, here's a photo of the neck measured with a ruler and lined up with the original shirt I brought in as a reference in case the rude phone lady ever decides to check Yelp. updated review: i've come here several times and I've noticed that a lot of mistakes get repeated over and over. I would caution you to come here to get stuff tailored because they make too many simple mistakes that include: 1. tailoring the incorrect length even after trying on the clothes. i noticed that this is a consistent problem because they have one person doing all the measuring during the visual inspection and then a totally different person doing the actual cutting of the garment. The big inconsistency is that the person cutting the garment does not know exactly where the first person, who was doing the initial measurements intended to make the cut. 2. the lengths of the garment being cut to different sizes, for example, one length will be shorter than the other side. I really do not know how you could mess up this basic hem, it goes to show that they really do not pay attention to the work that they're doing. ultimately, this is what made me decide to give them a 1 star because they ruined two pairs of pants that were expensive and that I loved until I took them to get tailored here. now, they're basically not wearable because the difference in length was so different that I had to take it back for them to fix. then, after they cut the longer leg to match the shorter cut, the pants were so cropped that they were way above my ankles. 3. they make promises that they can't fulfill, for example, they will tell you that they will have everything done in a week. then, when you show up on that day and time that they previously stated, they will tell you that they're not done yet. the least they could have done was inform me so that I didn't have to waste my Saturday or time to go to the shop. 4. the restitching of the pant cuffs is so poorly done. like, they will literally just put it back together without thinking about it first. this leaves a terrible-looking fold where the cuffs meet the pants. 5. my clothes came back dirty. I'm really not sure how this one happened but there were food stains and other stains on the clothes that I got back. also, there was a ton of threading and random bits of hemming materials on the clothes they got back. they couldn't even take the time to put a lint roller through the clothes to get rid of these tiny things. 6. they really do not pay attention to the details. for example, you will notice that they leave a lot of threading behind when they do the hem. tl;dr poor quality of work, not on time, clothes came back in worse condition and dirty read more

Took my mother of the groom dresses here for a quick hem. The lady was rude, and gruff. I was told they would call when ready, but never received a call. When I called them the day promised, they hemmed it then, an hour before i got there. Nevermind they had it for a week! It looked awful. Was not cut evenly, and the raw edge was left to unravel. This shop has been in Chula Vista for as long as I can remember. Two months ago I dropped off a couple pieces to be altered one dress and 2 custom masks. The dress they said would be finished in two weeks I can back one month later I believed I had given them enough time to finish my order. Nothing had been started and they said come back next week. Two weeks pass and they call me saying it is going to be $34 and if I don't come and pick up my items they will donate them ? I was confused so I go in and the lady who looks like she's in charge of they tailor shop throws me back my fabric and says she couldn't finish my order. That it was impossible, Very rude to not have called me prior and informed me that she would not be able to finish my order. My ONE dress cost me $34 I paid and left. I was not going to argue with someone who does not care about the business or customer service. So I would go here at your own Risk, if they like you they might help you and get your items altered at a reasonable time frame and prices if they don't expect to be waiting... waiting.... My husband needed his tuxedo fitted for our wedding, and we were recommended this shop by family. Initially we took his tux in a month and a half in advance to avoid holiday delays in December for the early January date we needed it by. The shop owner declined our business and told us to return a week before our date. Fine, understandable, she's the professional. We returned mid December and requested the tux be completed the first week of January giving them about 2-3 wks. She fitted the sleeves and pant legs to my husband, and we requested cufflink holes in his button up, and suspender buttons on the pants. She charged us about $35-38 dollars at that time. She said it would be completed by the date requested. Finally the date arrives, I call to let them know we're coming to pick it up. The woman who answers says they're behind and they'll work on it now. She insisted we come anyways after closing to pick up. My husband is of course irritated so instead we go the following day. When we arrived, they allow him to try it on and inform us we owe another 40 something dollars on top of the original amount. Supposedly, it was not calculated correctly the first time even though we were speaking with the same seamstress we left the tux with. After inspection, she forgot the buttons for suspenders anyways. We waited 10 minutes for her to do it on the spot before we left with the suit. We were both annoyed with the experience in the end. The work is good the customer service is inconsistent. read more

I paid up front to have 4 maxi dresses altered. $18 per item for hemming & $10 per item to alter straps ($76) 2 of my dresses the fabric was cut where the new hem was supposed to go instead of the traditional pinning. Ive come here for many years now. I found this tailor shop in 2017 when I needed to alter my prom dress. They fixed my dress with a fast turn around time and never gave me a problem about it only being a few days notice. They didnt over charge me, either. Every time i come here their pricing is reasonable. The most recent time is when I needed an evening gown for the Marine Corp Ball. I couldnt find a dress my size so I had to find a dress a size bigger and hope that they could take it in enough. This time I was more prepared and got it altered with plenty of time & it fit perfectly. When I was originally fitted before they altered it I could tell that she saw how i wanted the dress to fit on me and she nailed it.
