I've been eating here for 7 years. The last 3 of 4 visits...they weren't right; but I let them slide... Tonight after a 5.5hr drive back from Chicago. Tired, hungry...just wanted to eat. I specifically asked for Fernando to serve me (I saw he was there)...speaks perfect English and always gets my order right. I was denied his service because it was close to closing time (30-minutes) - I arrived at 9:30. I asked for a half order of "perfect chicken" and a guacamole salad. She (the other server) told me that it would be a $4 upcharge. "It's just a dollop of guac" she said. I showed her on the menu where it came with the Pollo Mexicano (close enough). She just shrugged her shoulders. So I decided not to get it...it would've been wrong anyway. I got the bill for $10, the menu says 1/2 order is $9...so I made her go get a menu and show her. Second time this has happened. Later Fernando asked me to pre-pay my bill to close out the register. Then another server came by and asked to take my plate away...I said "I'm not quite finished" (never asked if I wanted a to go box) she pulled out her iPhone and showed me that it was 10:01. I paid...I left my military discount card on the plate under broccoli and cheese sauce. 15% off isn't worth being treated like shit! read more

The only good thing that I could say about this restaurant is the drinks were amazing the best flavored lemonade that you can get anywhere around the food on the buffet definitely not up to temperature standards for food safety and sanitation Observed an employee going on to the buffet bare handing product without using utensils this is unsafe very unsanitary and flat out disgusting Upon exit there is no signs for stating where the restrooms are at I had to ask for the restrooms were at and upon going in to use the rest in the restroom was even worse than the food was very disgusting very unhealthy it needs about a 3-day bleaching process to make it sanitary unfortunately we will not be stepping foot into that establishment ever again. read more

I can say we have eaten from sergios Mexican restaurant many times. We are diners in the herrin Illinois restaurant. Yesterday May 23 2020 we placed a order. It was a nightmare . My wife went to pick up order and was disregarded , waited 15 minutes at the speaker system to get someone and when she did they were rude and told her they will get with her when they can and to wait . After she finally did answer my wife she was short and pretty much didn't care . After the food was gotten and brought home ,we opened it to find the worst nastiest stuff I have ever seen. Cheese dip that poured like water, a Mexican dip that was like liquid and bad taste, the chips were stale. The enchiladas was cold and her taco Fahita salad was almost all lettuce no other ingredients to very little . Never have we had it this bad there. I doubt sergios will read this but he should . Service is good and the owner is great. The building is outstanding with it's large indoor area with roomy seating and the outdoor patio. Unfortunately, their food often fails to hit the mark with me - and that is not saying it's bad. I find that the food is very average. A very good Mexican restaurant at a reasonable price. My husband and I had the lunch buffet.It was really good. It is a way to try different things. I went here with friends about 2 years ago and we had very decent service and the food was just fine. Nothing to write home about... However, a few months ago, my husband and I decided to give Sergio's another try. Big mistake! A waiter took our order and then we waited 45 minutes only to be brought... THE BILL!? When we informed the waiter that we had never received our food, they brought us two ice-cold plates that must have been sitting back there the whole time. We tried to eat it but everything was cold and hard. We stood up, grudgingly paid our bill and left. I wouldn't mind giving them another shot but husband says, "Never again." Update: they now have a lunch buffet from 11-2 every day. It has a nice selection on it to make just about any dish you want.

I used to love this place but the last time my daughter and I went it was terrible! They took forever at taking our drink order, while we looked at the menu for about 20 minutes until they came back to take our food order. After 30 more minutes our food came: it was disgusting. My burrito was literally a couple scoops on filling with a tortilla shell laying on top of it. My daughter ordered chicken tenders: they broke in half like a cracker. It was almost as if someone had taken chicken skin, dipped it in batter and deep fried it. My daughter couldn't even take a bite that was edible. I couldn't get passed a bite or 2 of my burrito because it looked like vomit. On that note we stood up and left. Im never going again. read more

Just picked up a meal at Sergio's in Herrin and there were worms in my niece's food. Like maggots or something. Needless to say, we will be taking it back, getting our money back, and we will not be eating there anymore. If this is the quality of food they serve, I would caution others from eating there as well. read more

Went there last night with friends and my family and we had the BEST service I have ever had in ANY restaurant hands down. Our waiter Fernando? I think. I'm reviewing this based on my very last experience there and adding one start just because of COVID. Usually, we order takeout because of the pandemic and never had any issues until this last time. We arrived to pick up our order and realized that there was no chips and salsa, we asked about it and we were told "we don't do that anymore." Ok, well, maybe they are hurting due to COVID as most people are so we go home without questioning further. We arrive home and I start diving into my Monster Burrito, usually this burrito is great, stuffed with rice, pico, and a good amount of steak. This time, it was just rice, not much of anything else, especially steak. I counted about 5 strips total and some of those were very small. Was not very pleased with my food at all this time. If you aren't going to give me chips and salsa with my order, at least make the food I ordered perfect. Overall, was very unhappy with my order and felt it was not worth what I paid for it. Again, I do want to emphasize this is not the experience I've had in the past, but this last time has me questioning if I will return. read more

I am finding that I am becoming a regular at Sergio's for lunch. Here is why - within a minute or two of being seated you get a fresh batch of chips and salsa. Your order is out to your table within around 5 minutes or so. Chicken Chimmy is awesome! Has a nice balance of lettuce, rice and refried beans. In and out within around 20 minutes. Be careful if using gift coupons from SIDAILYDEALS.com at Sergios. we had received a gift coupon from a friend and when we went to use it we were told it had already been redeemed. When we spoke with Sergio himself about it he showed us a log book of coupon numbers and how they highlight and initial/date the entry when it has been redeemed. Well, every entry in the log that had been highlighted had also been initialled and dated except the one we were trying to use.."obviously one of his employees had accidental highlighted the entry.. He refused to honor the coupon and flat out accused us of printing a duplicate coupon. It is obvious that he has no integrity whatsoever. WE WILL NEVER EAT THERE AGAIN!! read more
