I opted for the facial, and during the service the aesthetician asked if I wanted an add-on. I agreed to a $20 mask. Based on what she said, I understood that I'd only be paying for the $20 add-on plus a tip. I felt blindsided. If the masks were going to cost extra, that should have been clearly stated beforehand. It's not about the money so much as the principle the whole interaction felt disingenuous. I was actually planning on booking my next appointment before I left because I initially liked the aesthetician, but after this experience, I won't be returning. Transparency matters, and this just left a bad taste in my mouth.

The person helping me at the counter said she would ask her manager if there was a birthday discount. In the meantime, she applied a $10 member coupon to my purchase of two products recommended by the aesthetician. The manager could use some training on responding to customers in a pleasant manner, even if informing the customers that requested perks are not offered. When asked by the employee helping me whether they offered birthday discounts, the manager gruffly said "NO" and walked away. Something like "unfortunately, we do not, but happy birthday" would have been nicer.
