My crown's color didn't come out good. At the beginning they said it's the color I picked. I told them when you gave me the color to match, the color did match. So they took out their samples and found out the crown color was way off. They didn't think of it's their problem but blamed customer first. That's the first thing I didnt like about their service. So I already came in for nothing. They booked my appointment 2 weeks apart stating my crown will be ready. But in Wed, 4 days later, they told me my crown wi be ready and see if I can came in on Sat for my crown. Even though I felt suspicious why they crown will be ready in a week not 2 weeks as they told me earlier. But I rather get it done sooner than later. I even told them if it's not ready by Sat be sure to give me a call so I don't come in for nothing. They promised will definitely call me. On Sat, 7:06 am, they even sent me a reminder text for my appointment today. I was in a hurry and didn't realize they changed my time to 9am instead of 8am. But when I arrived, they told my my appointment was cancelled! No one freaking called me to inform me that my crown was not ready yet. They told me they called me on Thursday and leave me a message. No voicemail received and no missed call received. I even showed them my phone log to have the front desk identity which missed call belong to them. She couldn't find any number from her business but Still denied that they didn't call and insisted they called me and left me a voicemail. Such a dishonest place to do business with. When they made mistakes, just simply admitted it and apologized and don't blame it on customers. I will definitely not recommend this place to anyone. If they did their job done, I should already got my crown done last week. Not wasting last week's time and today's time for a cancellation. Came in with extreme tooth pain. I was given an X-ray on the side that I am experiencing the pain. The dentist came in, looked at the x-ray, and said "You need a root canal and a crown, you don't have to lose your tooth." ok great! Then he says, "Do you have sensitivity to hot and cold?" I say yes, and he takes the air and blows air on my tooth! For what?! Excuse me?! Are you kidding me?" There's more but who cares. They sucked! We switched to Serenity Dental after recommended by our kid's dentist. Been here for 1yr after 20hrs with another in downtown Sac. Serenity is sooo much better! The office is clean and relaxing, the staff iare very friendly, and my dentist Dr Sarah Tam is great! She explains things as she works, and keeps me calm. I decided to give them a call since I had to reschedule my appointment and my dentist would have to put me out another two months. But my mouth was hurting so I called Serenity up (my husband had been going to them for a year) and they got me in two days prior to my original appointment. Their Covid protocol is simple and very clear as you walk in. The hygienist was very personable and very gentle. The dentist, Dr. Kim, had a very open personality which made me feel welcome and not just another patient. I was having an issue with cold sensitivity and while they were unable to find a cavity they told me what may be going on, how to correct, and even made sure to focus on the section with a specific covering to try and lessen the sensitivity. I even asked her to relook at it and she did without seeming like I was putting her out or slowing her down. I think i have found a new dentist. read more

Do not come to this dentist office, unless you are ready to wait up to 20 minutes past your appointment time. The front desk lady with the glasses is the most condescending woman I have met. Every time I have asked her a simple question regarding insurance or dental work, she simply be-littles me. And this is not the first appointment I have felt this way, but have simply tried to ignore it. This time I was completely done being disrespected. I went in yesterday about a chipped tooth on my previously done tooth that was made with composite veener. The "chip" was the size of a piece of sand, and was just the corner of my front tooth. So I figured it would be a quick visit and no more then $250. The front desk lady came into the room, firstly explaining to me that I couldn't leave without paying?? Because the plan was for my parent to pay over the phone, thought that was obvious. She then came in with the price. $700 dollars. $700 dollars.... I immediately was confused and she very carefully explained to me that my tooth can't take regular composite, and that it takes some kind of special composite?? I brought up the fact that my sister had just gotten a chip in her tooth fixed a month prior, and she says again it takes a different type of composite and implied I didn't know what I was talking about. I have gotten my chips filled before at prior offices. All she was saying was absolute bs. She also had let me know my insurance had no coverage in this procedure at all... So I got up and left, I went to my other dentist, Seirra Oaks Dental. Who had done a bigger chip I had gotten on my front tooth 2 years ago. They quoted me $200, Insurance covered more then half of it, and had to pay out of pocket $88. And they did an absolute beautiful job. If you want a good reliable dentist, go else where. read more

I went in to fix a cracked filling, they replaced the filling I paid $127.35. After the treatment was complete I was then told I will need a crown in the near future. I believe they could have told me everything before treatment so, I could have saved the $127.35 and just paid for a crown. I believe this is a common practice of "MILKING " the client for more business & more money. read more

It's been a while, but I really feel the need to update my review. The administrative staff has been great for billing purposes. My overall experience went downhill when I had work done last year after my cleaning mentioned in the previous review. I was quoted about $3-4k for work needed (I just saw a dentist about 6 months prior and didn't have any outstanding work needed other than one crown). Stupid me! I ended up going forward and I had 4 fillings done on my right side all at the same time--this ended up being a huge mistake. I was in a bunch of pain and ended up needing a root canal in one of the back teeth that had a filling. This wasn't determined until after a few visits with me being in serious pain, being given antibiotics and sent home. Finally, they decided I needed the root canal. At this point, I was in constant pain that I just wanted them to get it over with. During the root canal procedure, the dentist, Dr. Yuli Sr, was unable to get to the third root---due to the calcification from the filling deposit! He started saying that having the tooth pulled would be cheaper than wasting money on going to an endodontist. Umm, I don't have several thousands of dollars to pay for an implant. It may seem cheap in the short term, but way more complicated and expensive long term. I insisted on being referred to the endo. They mentioned that the root canal was complete and could crown it should the endo not be able to get to it either--not sure how it could be complete if the third nerve is still in the tooth-but ok. Thankfully, they did not charge me for the root canal attempt since it was not complete. Long story short, I made an appointment with the endodontist who completed the root canal. I returned to the dentist to have my tooth crowned, but I will not be back. That one root canal/crown not only maxed out my insurance for the year, but I still had a bill for a few hundred bucks left over. I never had any issues with that tooth until I had the fillings---which I'm suspecting I never needed in the first place. I still had $1000 worth of work they wanted to do, but I decided after the fillings and root canal fiasco that I wouldn't be back after that experience. I found a new dentist and low and behold, I don't need any work done. When getting my crown fitted, one of the dental assistants kept re-fitting the X-ray piece into my mouth AT LEAST 10 times before she could capture the X-ray properly. This was for a photo of a single tooth too. I was beyond frustrated at this point. If they quote you for a ton of work they say you need, I would get a 2nd opinion first. I've been holding back from writing this review, but I've been really unhappy since this has happened. My husband was also told he had 4 cavities. He's only had like 1 or 2 cavities in his whole life and now he suddenly needs 4 fillings in the 6 months since we saw our previous dentist. He said his experience was otherwise fine, but the upselling is really apparent. I can't state enough: Get a 2ND OPINION. read more

Both Dentists know what they're doing! Manaza Rashid is the Office Manager. She keeps things on lock down, and is easy on the eyes! Just a beautiful person who makes you smile everyday! Awful place!! The entire staff was beyond rude. I was referred there by my regular dentist for my sons treatment. While waiting in the dentist office, my daughter told told to leave and wait in the lobby. When the dentist came in the first thing he said was, "Move, your in my seat". I tapped my son in the shoulder and said let's go. As I was walking out the dentist was laughing at me. I was not able to get his name, as I practically ran for the exit. Sometimes it takes a while to get scheduled another appointment. Waiting in the lobby can range anywhere from 10-20 minutes. They never tell you upfront the cost or how much insurance is going to cover. They just provide the service and expect you to pay it. read more

Absolutely terrible! First we came here in September for my husband to get his wisdom tooth removed. We were charged for a consultation. The doctor removed one wisdom tooth. Fast forward two months later and the other wisdom tooth needs to come out so they insisted on charging us out of pocket for ANOTHER consultation for the same thing. Then we get back there and the doctor refuses to start the consultation until I leave the room. I am a nurse and I have NEVER seen a doctor make family leave when discussing a treatment plan!! He was very rude and sarcastically laughed when he told me to leave!! I am appalled!!! read more

I was a patient at Serenity Dental for 2 years, so I think I'm being pretty fair here with long-enough experience. From day 1, my biannual cleaning and checkups became an opportunity to push services on me by my dentist and the front desk staff. You have to wonder how the facility is so luxurious, has the top-of-the-line technology, and dental assistants all over the place--this is why: money. (And people wonder why health care costs are skyrocketing...) After giving in to the pressure of two (later I learned) unnecessary services, I wised up and sought a second opinion. When I told my dentist at Serenity that I don't have the money or the need for a crown (on a tooth that was fine according to 2 dentists' opinions to date), he said, "I don't talk money. Talk to the ladies up front about a payment plan." I was appalled, because all I could think was, yeah, because you got into dentistry because you love teeth. /s Anyway, I found a dentist in town I'm more comfortable with and one that I don't feel like is pushing unnecessary services on me so he can run his extravagant dental clinic. He has a simple clinic and technologies that do the job. Also, my teeth are still fabulous 3 years AFTER serenity clinic, with no crowns or root canals to speak of. UPDATE: It has now been 7 years and that tooth that Dr. Kodai swore up and down was going to crumble on me... well, it's doing just dandy. read more

My first visit here was great! Wait, are we still talking about a dentist? Yes. I'm as surprised as you are. I'm. The type of person who is irrationally scared of the dentist's office. I try to avoid it at all costs and well, that isn't good. I decided to put on my woman pants and make an appointment here and I'm glad I did. The staff was very helpful in assisting me with my appointment and they listened to me when I said I was scared because when I got there the doctor already knew. I didn't have to tell him. The doctor himself is gentle, very patient, gives detailed explanations of what is needed and what he is doing, he is by far the best dentist I've ever met. I have to have quite a bit of work done considering I avoided the dentist at all costs but I honestly feel less anxious knowing that I'm in Dr hands. I would highly recommend this place. Especially if you are petrified of the dentist like I was. They have plenty of way of relieving you of your anxiety to make sure you're comfortable during your visit. read more

I was a patient for this office for a 4 years. I stopped being a patient here when Dr. Mar was frustrated that she was unable to numb me to apply a crown that should have never really been. I have dental anxiety on top of thought. Long story short I was there for about 2 hours because the dentist could not get the temporary crown off because she applied the wrong glue. I had a "crack" in my tooth that wasn't bothering me, but was convinced that I needed a crown in case the crack causes issues that result in pain. Long story short, I was frustrated because Dr. Mar was having such a difficult time numbing me, she blamed it on my dental anxiety, and this was never an issue before. I've never had a problem with being numbed. I could feel the drill and it was causing sharp pains, so I would tell her that I still was not numb. After all of this, the medical office manager told me that Dr. Mar said I was the worst patient ever and that she didn't want to work on me again. Who says that to a long time patient? It was hurtful and I was traumatized by being there for over 2 hours and enduring not being fully numb while she was drilling a hole in my tooth. She was talking about..we can stop then..no we can't stop because now I have a hole in my tooth that wasn't there when I came to the dentist office. I seriously flashed on office staff! I have never been so insulted in my life! Seriously though, they really only know how to fill cavities and that is it! Worst yet, is that the owner never returned my phone calls after leaving several messages. The worst ever!! They are a money making business and told me that my daughter needed to have all of her teeth filled. Went to our previous dentist (off of Howe Ave) and she said absolutely not. She also told me that my crown was leaking (2 months after Dr. Mar put it on.) I decided to go back to my initial dentist and the only reason why I left is because I live in Natomas and wanted to something closer to home. Serenity dental does not live up to their name. Before cleaning she used some treatment for my sensitive teeth, so I did not feel anything. She also gave me good tips about brushing and flossing my teeth. I would give more than 5 stars if I could. I have always been scared of the dentist due to a bad childhood experience so when it came time for me to find on for a root canal I was terrified. I came to Serenity dental for that root canal and left in happy tears. I was numbed with just a shot and felt nothing before during and after even when the numbing wore completely off. Didn't even take the prescribed medication. Today I had a wisdom tooth pulled and it was the same thing. Some may say I have a high pain tolerance, which I definitely do not, but I truly believe that it depends on the dentist that you have that determines what kind of experience you have. Dr. Vildermon Manaza is amazing and I highly recommend him for any dental work you may need from minor to major. read more

the staff from the time I called to make an appointment being in pain and irrationally terrified of dentists; walked me through some difficult work a root canal a couple is extractions with bone graft- Dr. Cuadros was fantastic , he said I would have no pain in the 3 and 1/2 hr appointment. I did not, he kept me relaxed and pain free.
