My daughter dyed her hair black and started to hate it. For her high school graduation I promised to help get her hair fixed. I know nothing about hair....lol...I called upon Sheila at Serendipty Salon. I hope I spelled her name right..... She was super nice, even when my daughter canceled an appointment at the last minute ( teenagers ) She was super nice about it! It's time I leave a review. I have been coming to Joe for over 2 years now. He is the only person, along with Ashley Bobier, that I trust with my hair. In the last year and a half alone, I have gone through 7 different hair colors. My hair is not falling out that's to Joe's care. I have gone from long hair to short twice with him, and every time I have doubts about growing it out, we discuss what I want. Pricing is so comparable to chains, and cheaper than the beauty schools. And, you get the salon experience EVERY time. By which I mean shampoo, conditioner, style. The entire staff is awesome, and I will continue recommending Serendipity Salon. read more

Don't ever go to Serendipity or Eva Lea. I found her on yelp last minute before a vacation and all I asked for her to do is balayage and lighten my hair a bit. She took 9 hours yes 9 hours for this process. Halfway through the second time she bleached my hair is when she told me each bowl of bleach is $15 for all the product she was using so I had no other choice but to tell her to finish. My hair turned this ugly orange and was so blotchy and uneven. She charged me $250 for this trash. First serendipity told me when I called my balayage would be $85, later when Eva saw how long and thick my hair was she said $130 but then it ended up being $250. I literally cried after seeing it in my car. She told me she would fix it but she was SO lost on how that another hair stylist luckily was there to help. It looked better but still not pleased. She told me after my Vaca she can go back and even it out however when I called to schedule that she told me she'd have to charge me. I would NEVER recommend her to a soul. I was so angry and spoke to the manager but he said I couldn't get a refund. They lie about prices and this salon is garbage. They don't care about customer satisfaction. read more

Hair Trials and Tribulations in the Tri-Cities: Episode II Was feeling shaggy and unkempt and decided to get my hair cut. I stopped in here as a walk-in and Ashley was nice enough to get me in her chair pretty quickly. We talked about what I wanted, and what went wrong at the last salon. I explained that I have a history of mohawks and faux-hawks and a shaved head and dreadlocks and that I'm growing out my pixie cut but would like to keep it looking "funky and fun" (my exact words). I also explained that I was really trying to avoid a soccer mom hair cut, as I'm still in my 20's and not ready to drive a minivan quite yet. We joke, we laugh, it's fine. She gets started. Now, maybe I should have stopped her at some point, but she just kept piling on hair product, long after I thought she must certainly be done by now. We're talking mousse, followed by hair clay, followed by some sort of putty or pomade, followed by a texturizer, and then hair spray too. For reference, my hair is not even nose length and there is no reason a decent haircut should require that much product, regardless of length. At the very least, she could have asked me how I felt about using product- she'd have learned quickly that I keep it pretty minimal. My head reeked of product, to the point that I decided to skip the rest of my errands and go home and wash my hair because my head smelled so awful. I walked in the door and my boyfriend immediately started giggling. "You look so... mom-ly." My friend chimes in: "You look like Justin Bieber. It's like Justin Bieber's mom!" (Again, direct quotes.) Now, the haircut is... eh. It's not great. I've said it before and I'll say it again. With short hair, the difference between a bad haircut and a reasonable hair style is a couple weeks and a hat. That said, between this and my experience at Z-Place, I find myself questioning whether I can get a decent haircut in the area. read more

Although it only had one review from a customer, it was close so I decided to give it a try. I called on Friday and was pleasantly surprised to be fit in the next day with Joe. When I arrived, Joe was ready to go and seated me quickly. I appreciated that he took his time to examine the coloring that was already in my hair. He was very calm and explained things clearly. I had long hair most of my life and one day I decided to go very short. I just turned 30 and I was feeling adventurous :) I saw the good reviews on Yelp and got an appointment with Joe. My husband and I have been clients of Ashley's since she was working at a chain salon. We gladly followed her when she went out on her own. I've never had a bad cut from Ashley. In fact, her work is so good that it continues to look good as it grows out. She does over-style my hair, but we both know that as soon as I walk out of the salon it goes right back into a high pony tail. (I'm one of those people to whom "styling" means I combed my hair." I rarely put any product in my hair.) Clearly, not everyone feels the same way as I do. But given that Ashley is frequently booked up weeks in advance, I'm guessing she has plenty of faithful clients. Please note: there are currently two Ashleys at this salon.
