The cafeteria staff--especially Maria Luisa--were extremely accommodating, and it was a pleasure to see her always smiling and greeting the guests. A guy I know organized a trip to Barcelona but reserved the Holiday Inn for being an affordable option. But we had to take two trains to get Downtown. It's at least 45 minutes. The room was comfortable and weather was pleasant in May. I could open the window. The walls are thin but the bed is comfortable. There is Dove body wash and shampoo but no body lotion. The train is an 11-minute walk away. There is a grocery store, Caprabo, next door and a restaurant chain called Viena. I had a good cheese and tomato bocadillo there as well as a croissant filled with hazelnut spread. The continental breakfast is a cold buffet, but there are lots of items. There were hard boiled eggs, tortilla española, cereals, yogurts, pastries, bread, cold cuts and fruits. The fruit juices disappointed me, but the coffee machine options were ok. There is a limited bar at the lobby with wine. You can purchase cold bottled water from the reception desk. The staff were very friendly.

This is the only place where the carpet was so clean and feeling new that I felt safe to walk around in bare feet without socks out of all the places we stayed at right before this, including other 3- to 4-star hotels. In other words, HLG lives up to the excellent, 4-star quality. Moreover, there are lots of little details that make this place stand out above the rest. First of all, everything felt new and clean as mentioned already. Secondly, the faucets turn on elegantly and not just full blast with full strength. They are controlled. Thirdly, there was a retainer on the toilet paper roll that kept the toilet paper from falling off. Many other places didn't have this, and so the toilet paper would fall off and roll away wasting lots of paper. But here, it is safe and sound. This is a small detail but it adds to the comfort of staying here - stress free. Yep, the small details make a difference; it is noticeable after having traveled to multiple destinations. And the area looks to be very nice and modern. There are new developments and construction. This is the up-and-coming location - a little off the main path, farther from Barcelona, and has a suburban feel. It has its unique character with the set of locally loved restaurants. If you want to explore without all the tourist traps and get a feel for the genuine lifestyle, then this is the place to go. It is just as beautiful and vibrant with life and friendly people. Also, there is a local train that runs, so it is convenient.

Great area for Business stay, clean, simple & convenient. Room we got was upgraded w/ patio & mini living room & kitchenette area. We had a junior suite that had a bedroom and living area and they brought us a rollaway bed for my daughter. The bathroom door didn't have a lock and it was glass so anyone else in the room could see inside if they wanted. I really liked the enclosed balcony, it had a table and chairs and was like you were inside and outside at the same time. There were shutters you could open and close to your liking but watch out! Pigeons kept trying to get in and one got stuck between the shutters on the room next to us. The room also had a nice espresso/coffee machine and tea. We had to call down a few times for extra towels, toilet paper and coffee but they brought it right up. We had breakfast included with our room but never actually went. There is a grocery store and a few restaurants within walking distance and the metro was about a mile. It wasn't in a real close location to everything but it was easy enough to get where you wanted to go.

When I checked in we were early and Diana and Agathe checked me in fairly quickly. But there was no room available yet so we had to come back. Then turn it back on.

My first time here. This is a newer hotel in the area and is located close to the Gran Fira 2…read moreshopping center and Ildefons Cerdà FGC stop. I have pretty simple requirements when traveling and focus mainly on convenience of location and safety. The hotel is nice and feels safe to me. It is conveniently located for the work I am doing and there seem to be at least 3 cabs around at most times. Some people may consider the rooms small by American standards, but it works for me -- traveling alone for work. Most of the people at the front desk speak enough English that my non-Spanish-speaking self had little trouble conveying my requests. My room wasn't ready when I arrived (at 11 am... So earlier than the 3pm check in time) and they offered to check my bag. That was nice and I appreciated not having to haul my stuff all over. The Gran Fira 2 is right across the street and is basically a shopping center with stores and restaurants, including a KFC and Subway. Good to know if you're missing a bit of home after having been on the road for many days. There are no washcloths. That's kind of odd, but the concept seems foreign to them. Also, I'm not really a fan of the combination shampoo/shower gel dispenser in the shower: it basically dispenses a foam that you're supposed to use for all cleaning. Kind of like the stuff they have in airport bathrooms.... I was happy with the breakfast offering since there was a nice mix of protein, fruit, and breads. Be aware that it is more on the European side than the American side (duh, right?) with respect to food prep. They have both inside and patio seats, so you can enjoy the nice weather while starting your day. I found the instant coffee in the room to be better than the stuff that came out of the machine in the dining area. Your mileage may vary. For those not familiar with the layout of Barcelona, note that this hotel is NOT in downtown Barcelona and takes a 15€ or so cab ride -- or the Metro -- to get there. Overall, I'm happy with this hotel.

Room was clean, big with a beautiful bathroom. The nerd in me was impressed by the computer panel which controls the elevator system. There are 4 elevators for use. On each floor outside the elevators is a touch screen computer panel in which you select where you need to go - floor number or restaurant name. The computer figures out the elevator which can take you to your destination fastest and displays the number on the screen. After the display is shown the elevator arrives within seconds. The floor number is pre-selected when you step in. You cannot select the floor from inside the elevator. This was a very efficient system and I wish all hotels adopt it. They also serve delicious breakfast and the spread is huge. Every single thing that I tried on the breakfast was of excellent quality. The servers even come to your table and ask you if they can bring you coffee or juice. The empty plates are immediately removed and the tables cleaned. L1 metro line starts from the 'Hospital de Bellvitge' stop which is opposite to Hotel Hesperia. That gives you the advantage of pick your seat on the metro journey. If you are taking the metro to/from the airport, you'll have to change from L1 to L9 at Torrassa station. Airport is about 10 minutes away by taxi, so you might not want to go the metro route. By metro, hotel is about 30 minutes to beach or La Rambla street and 1 hour to Parc Guell. So it's definitely not in the center where you can walk to the happening places.

The room was spacious, with the biggest bathroom/closet area I've ever seen. The elevator control pad asks your destination and lets you know which car to use. This hotel is located a quick walk (less than 5 minutes) to the Hotel Bellvitge metro stop.
