Spain has 5,000 kilometers of coastline (3,100 miles)! With that much accumulation of saltwater at your fingertips you have a hell of a lot of choices of what your seafood meal can be. Today, for lunch at Serantes here in Bilbao, Spain, us six had a boat full (excuse the pun) of amazing marine cuisine that was about as good as any food from the ocean I've ever had: Squid, Octopus, Shrimp, Prawns, Urchin, Cuddlefish and any other food that swims. The service was stellar, the ambience was quiet and serene, the wines were delectable and the price for this extravaganza was not New York, L.A. or San Francisco prices. My stay here in Northern Spain has been breathtaking along with delicious. If I'm anywhere near 500 kilometers from Serantes, you better know I'll be back here lickity-split! read more

It's good and definitely higher end with a Michelin mention somewhere. Only had bar service as dinner typically starts at 8. Only a little English but they appreciate our efforts to communicate in Spanish. One of the best we tried. read more

We made a reservation. We arrived, and the restaurant refused to honor it, despite us showing the email exchange in which they confirmed. They turned us away, no apology. All the wait staff was rude and unapologetic. Go here at your own risk! read more

Food is decent; you can find a comparable or better food elsewhere at a better price. The service is bad:there is a presence of high end and the restaurant atmosphere is , somewhat, high end, but the service is not. It is borderline rude. It's recommended to tourists by nearby hotels. This is a fantastic seafood restaurant! As you enter, it looks like a typical basque cafeteria/bar, but upstairs is a full white tablecloth restaurant. They specialty is seafood but they have beef as well. I have posted several photos that document the freshness and quality of their food. read more

We werei n Bilbao for business and got a tip from our bartender in the hotel that their food was amazing. We walked there and went upstairs and was seated right away. We kind of got the feeling we werent high on the priority list since we were Americans, but I wont hold that against them. After gettnig drinks and ordering, they brought us hot fresh bread which was outstanding. I ordered Solomillo (steak) and it was great, the local mushrooms were to die for. My wife got the sole which was good, but a bit too bony for her. My colleague got the halibut, which was excellent. Sorry for the review with lack of detail, but I just wrote my first review today and after being helped by other reviews while i was out of town, I decided to review everything I can. read more
