Nice spot for pintxos off the main square (Plaza Nueva) in the old town side of Bilabo. I am by no means fluent in Spanish, and it was very appreciated that the bar staff really put in the effort to try and communicate in English. They had a really nice variety of pintxos and I got 3 for 10€. The burger pintxo was my favorite, with the squid being a solid second place. read more

Between La Olla and El Globo, (only these two, since La Viña is closed until the 16th, apparently,) I cannot decide which I enjoy more. It may be La Olla, but only because it is less chaotic and La Olla is more "civilized", with stools to sit down upon. Both very much earn their ratings though. read more

You can have Tapas on the 1st floor but we chose to have a sit down dinner as it was our last night in Spain. The downstairs atmosphere was not too loud and they were playing remakes of 80's songs. The server was very nice and incredibly helpful. We chose to share the Chuleton de presa de bellota and a salad. This was actually almost too much food! This is the best pork we have ever had in our lives. The dish was served sizzling hot with fried potato wedges (perfectly seasoned) and some pimento peppers. If you like pork at all this is a must try. We asked for a recommendation for a Tempranillo wine and were told we should have a bottle of Luis Canas Seleccion de la familia reserva 2018. 36 Euros and it tastes like a 300$ bottle (USD). This was the best experience to have on our last night. I am sure we will be back again someday! read more

This place has the best service and food experience we had while in Bilbao. Even when compared to San Sebastián where prices were significantly higher (for much less service). Fernando made it a memorable experience. He was great. We went back the next day just for him. The food was good but he wasn't working so it wasn't the same ambiance. We stopped in here for a quick bite as we were roaming around enjoying the mini Pintxos bars in Bilbao. As with all the other small bars this had its own unique take on the classics. Among the best were the four cheese pintos and the chorizo wrapped in pastry. They offered many different options of delicious Rioja wine at super reasonable prices. We had five glasses for our group for less than €15. A great spot to stop. read more

Excellent restaurant in Casco viejo Service was awesome, the girls at the bar are super friendly and genuine. The pinxtos which is the staple here in Bilbao are to die for. The restaurant has an upstairs, downstairs and patio. If you want to have a full meal you have to sit downstairs or outside. For pinxtos you can sit/stand anywhere on the first floor near the bar. The restaurant is located in Plaza Nueva which is full of bars and small restaurants. Having a full meal in Bilbao is very expensive and not worth it to be honest. With pinxtos you get to try everything on the menu and it's cheaper for sure. The torrija is the best I've ever tasted it's a must try. I would definitely recommend this place when you come to Basque Country. read more

Loved, loved, loved this place. We sat outside and had a delicious selection of pintxos. Totally recommend this bar along with the other five star places I have reviewed in Plaza Nueva. Pretty touristy but an amazing selection of Pintxos, the bar is completely lined with anything you could want. They have indoor seating but nothing outside. Additionally they have a restaurant below which seems pretty nice. One of the waitresses spoke English but it wasn't too common. read more

Yep, this place was excellent. And busy! Huge selection of pinxtos. It's a wide space with an L shaped bar and cold pinxtos covering every possible surface. The chuleta is really good and rare. The puff pastry around mini sausages made me smile -- a higher end version of the crescent rolls and hot dog appetizer I grew up with. I had some sort of crab dish that was great. The only miss for me was the bacalao (cod) al pil pil -- fishy and kinda boring. Service was great. I was impressed that a relatively small number of wait staff kept track of so many orders and customers. read more

After walking almost 200 steps down to the main square, a girl needs some wine and pintxos! I have been to Bilbao several times and had made the rounds of the well rated bars like Gure Toki and El Globo, but La Olla really takes the cake for me. It was only 2 euros per pintxo and the bar had plenty of room to pick and choose which you wanted, without feeling rushed (like Gure Toki). I enjoyed practicing my Spanish with the wait staff and it was a lovely place to spend solo for a good hour or so. They had so many dishes that were constantly rotating. Some of my favorites included the octopus salad, squid bruschetta, "pigs in a blanket", and peppers. It was truly a delicious meal, and if in Bilbao again, it will be the first on my list to return to. read more
