My family and I rented rooms and cabins here over the weekend from Thursday 7/28/16 - 8/1/16. We spent a LOT of money. There are 10 siblings, nine showed up, with all of their children as well. So this is a BIG number!
The front desk staff is NOT friendly and don't seem to know anything. They could not answer even the most simple of questions, such as, how much does the breakfast buffet cost at the ONLY restaurant at the location.
The rooms cost a little over $100 a night so at the very least a continental breakfast should have been served! There is only ONE restaurant on the entire huge property. Only soda vending machines available, no snacks. ONE ice machine for the entire resort located inconveniently on the far side of the lobby area. There are NO other restaurants, bars etc at the resort. So if you want to grab food or liquor etc you have to drive to wagoner or Hulbert. NOT having food and drink sources is unbelievable with nothing else anywhere close. Not even a convenience store is close!!!
No room service and the rooms are only moderately clean. The staff is young and were clearly irritated by having a full hotel. We were not the only family reunion there, and yes, it was busy but isn't what the resort would want?? My sisters and I heard two female employees loudly complaining about how busy it was and how much it "sucked" and they wished it was Sunday and we would all clear out. How un-professional!
None of our bathrooms were clean, the toilet paper holders were a joke and we made fun of how they came off the wall when we tried to get toilet paper. We all had to take the toilet paper and place it on the tub or sink for use. Each time we opened our doors to the outside facing the pool we had to deal with hornets flying at us and into our rooms as there were hornets nests in the doorways. There was trash on the outdoor patios that we all had to clean up ourselves, that's ridiculous! Some patios were missing chairs. There were suppose to be two chairs and a small table at each room, some only had one chair, or none!!
My father, grandfather and Aunt all have lake homes directly across the lake from the resort, we have been coming to Ft Gibson our whole lives so we were excited to have our reunion there. We have pontoon boats and we boated back and forth from Dads dock to the resort to pick up and drop off, however, there are no boat docks to tie to so we had to dock at the fishing dock and irritate that people fishing! How could a resort ON THE LAKE not accommodate boats!!!!!
The only restaurant had terrible food. The service was extremely slow and the staff not friendly or knowledgeable at all and no room service. We will not be staying there again and will plan our next reunion at a more accommodating location that will actually welcome us.
We are a big family and we tip big, but not this time. Clean up the resort, its too beautiful to let it fall apart the way it is and its sad. I remember how beautiful it was when we were kids. Truly too bad and a really bad experience, as far as the resort is concerned.
