Irises on the property

We just spent 5 nights at the Sequoia RV Park to enjoy some time at the national parks. The managers, Carlos and Luz, were so helpful. We had an electrical hookup glitch and they repaired it within minutes. There's a sweet office cat, Sequoia, who my granddaughter and I enjoyed visiting daily. The sites are extremely spacious and flat with nice grassy areas. There is a beautiful pond on the property for short walks in the afternoon. It was a short drive to King's Canyon and then into Sequoia. Full hookups and good wifi. We loved that we could choose our own spot when we drove in.

We had a wonderful week @ Sequoia RV park. Carlos and Luz were the MOST welcoming hosts we've encountered (and we live on the road full time!) The setting is beautiful and the RV park has great access to the National Parks! There's a great little gas/grocery up the road about a quarter mile with all the essentials and a few more amenities/restaurants in nearby Squaw Valley. The overnight/week stays are choose your own site and check-in with the Camp Host, but Carlos was quick to come to us and greet us when we arrived. He made us feel at home right away! The park is basic and no-frills which is perfect for us. The nightly and weekly rates were affordable. It was easy to make our reservation online and email communication was fast. Easy to hook up to water / electric with nice big sites. The sites all have picnic tables, fire pits and some are beautifully shaded. The laundry room is serviceable with 3 machines each of washers dryers (& inexpensive)! The bathrooms are currently under construction but kept tidy and gave us great HOT showers at the end of the day! The WiFi was fast and reliable (which is great for us, working on the road!) (We made friends with a sweet campground kitty and shared a little chopped chicken with her!) Easy access to both trash and recycling was great. There is a mix of short term and long term guests. The park is safe, quiet in the morning / evening and very family friendly! During our stay we had a few packages delivered to the Camp Host and Carlos/Luz were quick to communicate via text how we could collect them and that they would be secure until we could. We had a camp fire almost every night and Carlos was kind enough to provide firewood! That almost never happens in SoCal! It was so WONDERFUL! We would come back in a minute!

Good RV park just outside Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks. Nothing fancy - just all the basics. The Internet is acceptable with some buffering. Cell service is also acceptable (not 5G).. The best thing about the park is the manager and his wife. They go out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed and had no issues - best service we have ever had. A last note - the firewood bundle they sell have a "starter kit" - has a starter square, some kindling, and some wood shavings - made starting simple.

We stayed 7 nights in a fifth wheel. Our main goal was to visit Kings Canyon & Sequoia NP. This park has everything they advertise, but it's mediocre at best and really could be a lot better. We never met or saw a camp host or managers. You just check yourself in and pick an unoccupied site. We did see a guy come by each day to check the trash cans, landscape, etc., but that was it. The sites are really spacious but they are dirt. Sites do have a partially paved spot but if you park on this the electric pedestal, water, & sewer will be on the opposite side of your hookups meaning you have to run these connections under your rig. It is a really quite park and a great location to the national parks but even though we paid $60 night ($420 week) I don't think its worth that, but we were already here. Don't get me wrong, it does have everything they advertise and it all works and it's quiet I personally didn't like paying that much. The only negative things I can say is that it was really hard to level our rig on the site we chose, it was on dirt, there was small amount of litter around, and the utilities are on the wrong side if you want to park on pavement.

I love how the spaces for this RV park are so spacious. Plenty of room for the kids and dogs! Park managers are on site, very friendly and accommodating. We will return!

Space 69 at Sequoia RV Park

This RV park is located about 20 minutes from the northern entry gate to both Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Park. It is in the last level and populated spot before you undertake the curving drive up the mountains to reach the parks - the views to the valley below are spectacular and un obstructed since CalTrans apparently sees no need to install them to prevent vehicles from plunging over the steep inclines below. The RV park is easily accessed off of California Highway 180 just a few hundred yards past the Valero station (reasonable fuel prices and has a minimart). The office is on your immediate left. Self registration (even if prepaid) by completing the payment envelope and putting it in the drop box and then filling out your space number and vacating date form to clip to the post. The sites are very capable of accommodating very long rigs. You select your own site on the eastern side of the park, which is where the overnight spaces are indicated with posts. The other part of the park are long term resident spaces. An important part of site selection is to verify the space has your power supply need - some boxes at this time are 50amp only, 30 amp only, both or none. Sites have also water and sewer and are pretty level. It's allowable to park either in the aged asphalt pads or the soil area - soil being hardpan and dried grasses typical of foothill California terrain. We experienced a severe voltage drop on our first evening of a 4 night stay. Voltage went from 117 to low 90s. After switching to battery power, I sent a text to the managers at around 10pm figuring we'd be moving sites the next morning. This message provided us with the best customer service experience I've had in years (note: I was a regional customer service manager for a large utility - so I recognize good from poor service). About 20 minutes after sending my text we had a knock at our trailer door. It was park manager/host Carlos asking about our issue. He immediately went to the electric panel with flashlight and volt meter and noted the lower than hoped for voltage. He checked the 50amp (good voltage) and then went to his residence to see if he had a loaner 50 to 30 amp pigtail. When Carlos returned, he said he had loaned out all 3. But he brought parts, tools, and his wife, Luz, to address the problem. Working as a team in the dark, with only flashlights to illuminate the pedestal, they found the 30 amp breaker was smoked at the jaws. Then out of the bag a parts they pulled out a pre assembled 30amp breaker with faceplate that Carlos had built, they pulled the breaker from the faceplate and installed the breaker and established acceptable voltage. I could tell by their approach and attitude that they loved the park and helping customers enjoy their stay. Getting excellent service late at night was both unexpected and a wonderful opportunity to meet the team that takes care of the park. Our 4 night stay was extremely pleasant. Road noise was minimal, the park occupants were quiet at night, trash and recycling was nearby, and if needed, shower facilities were available at the office. This is a location we will return to.

Love this RV park, the sites are spacious and the park managers are awesome. We camped here Thanksgiving and had a nice relaxing experience with awesome views.

We stayed here for several months while working in Clovis California; Carlos and Luz were amazing hosts, always attentive and so friendly! Felt like a home away from home. We could not have been happier with our time there! Definitely would come back again if I'm ever in the area!

Excellent location. We had a great experience there for 3 nights. Luz has been so nice and helpful.

Island Park Campground - Camp Ground

Island Park Campground

It was a Friday night; Memorial Day weekend, 2024; and we hadn't made a campground reservation yet…read more (Lesson learned!) Kings Canyon was completely full, but Recreation.gov showed that Island Park Campground still had 2-3 sites available. We weren't familiar with the campground, but it was kind of on our way between Kings Canyon and Santa Cruz, CA -- our next destination. Sited on a lake, it looked good in the photographs, so we made a reservation for one of the available tent sites where we would stay in our Class B RV. Our GPS took us along a picturesque, but narrow and windy road, and we eventually came to beautiful views of the lake. (Route out, towards Fresno was easier). Our site was interesting. The paved parking space for our Class B RV was significantly sloped. However, there was a flat tent site, fire ring, and picnic table directly overlooking the beautiful lake. We peacefully sat at the table enjoying the afternoon sun, and watching a few kayakers. We later walked around the campground. There was a section with larger RVs, with families that seemed to know each other. Kids were swimming and freely running around. People were walking their dogs. Others were cooking dinner on their grills. Upon further inspection, we were surprised to discover that there were campsites and a port-a-potty that were under water! (A ranger later confirmed that there had been recent flooding). Being Memorial Day weekend, the campground was full, and became increasingly noisy as the evening elapsed. However, the strangest thing happened around 2 am. We were fast asleep in our small RV when we were both awoken to the crackling of a fire just outside our backdoor. It turned out that the tent campers in the site adjacent to us decided to start a large fire in their fire pit at that crazy hour and it was right next to where we were trying to sleep. Pros. Beautiful setting with views of the lake and hills. Water activities. Friendly and helpful rangers. Well-priced, especially with NPS discount for seniors with passes. Free showers. Pleasant temperatures in late May. Cons. Noisy and crowded on Memorial Day weekend. Many sites are too close together. Lake itself was flooded, with some campsites under water. Ladies bathroom near sinks was flooded, which attracted bugs.

Other than that the campgrounds was great. I love the fact the market is reasonably priced. They have a Cafe, showers, cleaner restrooms, and a laundry facility. The campsite was beautiful. Not too many bugs. Everywhere you looked it was beautiful. There's lots of campsites nearby but not too close. Our campsite was 202, right behind the large rock and pretty close to the river. It was nice hearing the rush of water throughout the day. The bathroom was close enough except for during the the night. Knowing that bears are in the area made it really scary going in the middle of the night. Wear a headlamp, it's much better than a flashlight. The shuttle will come inside the campgrounds and pick you up near the restrooms in the main parking lot. There are a few trails for hiking (which we didn't have time to do). I do recommend if traveling with another family to work out the food situation because there's only one bear box per site. One large cooler can fir or two smaller ones. One large and one small cooler will not fit in the box. ALL food, snack, even perfume, & body spry should be put into the bear box.

We've been here multiple times and this time the water was very much filled with algae in the upper areas near the waterfall and cleaner as you went through towards the bridge. Make sure to test the rocks before you step on them or you might slip! Each campground spot has a fire pit (with a very annoying and disgusting swiveling grill on top), and a bear box. I would say the amount of space you get per spot is pretty spacious compared to some other campgrounds. There are potable faucets throughout the campground and bathrooms nearby. The bathroom isn't very clean and only four stalls so there is a wait sometimes but the faucets are motion sensored which is very convenient. There are a lot of interesting bugs at this camp site. And a lot of chipmunks. If they find any scraps they'll be coming back often. We had to scare them off to stop them from coming and digging into our bags. There is a ranger truck patrolling the area at all hours and will stop by your camp site to find things you're doing wrong. We got a warning for leaving out unscented (free and clear) hand soap. And the ranger picked up our trash bag with a few blow out diapers and shoved it on top of our baby food inside the bear box. If you look at the bear box label it tells you to put your kids car seats in there but you are provided a box that will not fit them and all your other stuff. Cross your Ts and dot your Is.

After staying for nine days we found out that you had to become an escapee's member and the cost was $49. To join for one year. The park refunded this in a free night credit. While staying here we met the park manager and took a tour after finding out they are a 55+ members park. After reviewing the park information and seeing what a beautiful park this was we decided to make this our home base. We travel to many places after retirement but found that we needed a place to hang out hat for Dr. appointments, and staying connected with our family in the Central Valley. We bought in and picked our site. The unique nature of living here is that the members here all volunteer to help keep cost down to run the park. This gave us a sense of ownership and community. We volunteer 3 days per week for approximately 4 hours per day and join in on special events to help set up or organize events that are for the members. It's not like having a job but more like going to hang out with folks that have the same interests. There is constantly an event going on weather you like to play cards, pool, dominoes, darts, working out , or outdoor activities like pickle ball or mini golf the fun is endless. This amazing place has beautiful views of the Sierra foothills and there's even a casino across the mountain. Becoming a member here has given us a place to call home in between our travels and our site remains ours when we're in the park. If you're thinking of becoming a full timer or if you're looking for a great place to glamp, this is the place!
