Sequoia Park Zoo was such a fun zoo to visit!! Read on to hear my thoughts! The zoo: There is a path that leads around the zoo and about 20+ exhibits. My personal favorite was the flamingos because we got to see them up close!! The red panda was also super cute. The sky bridge: There is also a sky bridge at this zoo! It is quite high and the bridges that connect to the platforms were such a fun touch!! You can see some of the animals and the surroundings forests from up there and it was so freaking cool. Since this is California, they did have a lot of cool big trees as well! Parking: I parked on the street for this zoo since it gave me closer access. I believe there may have been a park with an actual parking lot nearby but it was slightly farther from the zoo. Photography policy: They allow and encourage photos to be taken and shared! You just can't sell them or license them without getting permissions and checking with them first. The staff: The employees were super knowledgeable and helpful! There's a couple wandering around the zoo so you can ask them questions about the animals. Final thoughts: This was such an awesome zoo!! It was cute and not too crowded. Nice really small zoo. The major attraction is the Redwood Sky Walk. Raised wooded trail suspended in the redwoods. Use the trail to get a better view of the bears. 2 restrooms. 1 by the gift shop and entrance 1 in the Barnyard, petting zoo. There is cafe onsite, serving hamburgers and ice cream and various deep fried side dishes. The gift shop is limited. There really is not much of a selection of items, you will have to go thru the gift shop to exit the zoo. The zoo is very small, but the center attraction is the Redwood Sky Walk. There is a raised trail thru the redwoods over the zoo and thru part of the park. Rickety Bridges, high rise platforms and views into the Bear enclosures. read more

This zoo was on the smaller side, but it was very clean and relaxing. We were here for about three hours and felt relaxed when we left not like other zoos that might be chaotic due to so many people. One downside for us was that there was no carnivores here. No big cats or anything like that. read more

Such a well done local zoo! Plenty of walking space, and interactive displays. We had a lovely day out here, enjoyed the petting zoo area, flamingos, watching a bear bathe, and monkeys play. Inside the park, included with admission is the skywalk. It's a gorgeous walk up in the redwood trees. We didn't have enough time this trip, but next time I'd love to explore the trails on the ground! Lovely friendly staff, clean grounds and plenty of food options. The zoo was recommended with the redwoods bridge, black bear, and red pandas. The ticket was a bit high if you bring a family but I can see spending a whole day here with kids. Some of the animals were not out so don't expect to see every single animal there. The staff were nice, help explained what is going on. Highly recommended for kids under 10. read more

This is a very small zoo! We came here to go on the skywalk and since it was included in the entrance to the zoo, we decided to walk around and see the exhibits they offered. You can probably go thru the zoo in less than an hour. They have flamingos, birds, monkeys and a bear exhibit. They have a good size souvenir shop and there's a food shop as well! Eureka's Fun Size Zoo [Eureka CA] This is a smaller intimate zoo located in Eureka. To my understanding it is one of the smallest accredited zoos in the country, not to mention the oldest zoo in the state! The zoo is clean, spacious and well maintained. It was nice walking around since it was a smaller venue. The animal exhibits featured a range of species from various habitats. We enjoyed seeing the different creatures and since the zoo was small, it was easy to navigate around, the exhibits were in close proximity to each other, allowing us to efficiently see all the animals in one visit. My absolute favorite were the Chilean flamingoes... I think flamingos are such pretty amazing birds, the river otters were fun to watch too. Sadly, there are no more red pandas. There is a small cafeteria inside the park offering burgers, sandwiches, pizza, salads and sides. Admission price included the Redwood Sky Walk experience (separate Yelp check-in) and may be purchased at the Zoo ticket booth on the day of your visit. We spent about 2-1/2 hours inside the park. Sequoia Zoo is a great place to visit. It's quite small so not a destination but they have a nice selection of animals. The enclosures integrate with nature and the skywalk was a fun experience. My favorite animals were the red panda (Saffron) and the otters who seemed to really enjoy displaying their playful side. The only reason for 4 instead of 5 stars is the cafe. Veggie burgers were good as were the garlic fries. The grilled chicken sandwich should be taken off the menu. There were 4 minuscule pieces of chicken (largest was 3" x 1/2" and 1/4 inch....not kidding, about half the size of your pinky finger. Everything was coated in this sweet honey dijon runny sauce. Honestly, because there was so little chicken, it felt like you were eating bread and some sort of sauce. In addition, when our food was delivered to our table, the server basically dropped the tray on the table and left without a word. Go for the zoo, not for the food. read more

Sequoia Park Zoo is a smaller zoo, but it's amazing! The animals appear happy (which is rare at zoos). The setting is fabulous. We live in the Bay Area and this zoo tops the San Francisco zoo, the Oakland zoo and even the San Diego zoo. We really loved it! read more

My group really enjoyed our zoo visit. Don't look for large animals (e.g. elephants, big cats, giraffes), but what they have is presented beautifully and surrounded by redwoods including a terrific sky walk that puts you up in the air overlooking everything. It's been months since we visited but here's a review anyway. I was dissapointed that the zoo was smaller than I anticipated. It took us an hour and 30 minutes to finish our visit. That's including the Skywalk. I was impressed watching Sumo, the only red panda left among its kin, having a bamboo lunch served by his zookeeper. This was our first time seeing this species. The flamboyance of flamingos and the roughhousing orphan bears were our points during that day. The giftshop was underwhelming but it did house the zoo's other notable critters Despite the flaws, it was still a feat having visited California's oldest and one of the USA's smallest accredited zoo. read more

This is a small, well kept and card for zoo. There is a beautiful sky bridge through some red wood trees. It's mostly shady and the gift shop is quite small - a plus in my book because it's not overwhelming. The red panda was not on display because its habitat was being upgraded, but a staff member allowed me to glimpse through a window to where the red panda is being kept and sure enough! We celebrated my sister's birthday by taking a weekend road trip to Eureka and Klamath. I have always wanted to visit the Redwood Sky Walk. I didn't realize the Sky Walk was directly located within the zoo until we did our research. It's like going on 2 adventures for the price of one! The Sky Walk did not disappoint! The trees, the suspension bridges, and the views are truly amazing! We thoroughly enjoyed the Sky Walk! Now on to the Zoo! We loved the zoo! The animals all looked so happy and well cared for! My sister loved Saffron the Red Panda and me being a goat lover, loved the Contact Corral (the petting zoo)! We saw unique animals that we haven't seen in other zoos, like the Patagonian maras and the peccaries! Watching the otters was also a treat! What a gem this place is for all ages! We highly recommend visiting this peaceful and magical place! read more

No, it isn't particularly huge, and I wish the cost was a bit less, but what they do have is outstanding, particularly the otters and the Redwood Tree Walk - I went here on a wet day without a lot of people around, and it was rather relaxing, making me think about what is really important in life. read more

We came here as a group of 10, 6 kids 12 and under and 4 adults. We had such a good time at this place. The sky bridge was a lot of fun to walk on. The kids really enjoyed being up high. We had a great experience with one of your workers, Finley, I believe her name was. You could tell that she really enjoyed answering any questions that the kids or adults had and that she was very knowledgeable and all around loved the animals. Whenever I visit a new city, I love to check out their local zoo or aquarium. Mostly because I am an animal lover and it makes for a nice relaxing day after a long flight or drive. Sequoia Park Zoo isn't very large, but still has a variety of species on hand (over 50). This was my first visit to Eureka and the first attraction I visited after I landed. Sequoia Park Zoo was established in 1907 and is California's oldest zoo. While here I saw spider monkeys, flamingos, snakes, red pandas, and river otters. I really enjoyed walking through the free-flight aviary where they had a number of colorful birds hanging out. They also have a barnyard area where you can pet and interact with many of the animals. The kids that I observed there were really enjoying themselves. My favorite animal in the barnyard was the domestic pig and the grunts that he was making. I love how this zoo incorporates the coast redwood forest. My favorite part of the day was walking on the Redwood Sky Walk. There was so much to explore there. The Sky Walk is the longest sky walk in the western United States at a quarter of a mile to the end and back. It is 100 feet above the ground and allows you to get up and close to the redwood trees. Overall, I had a nice afternoon walking around here. I felt the admission price was reasonable. There is a gift shop and a cafe on hand for food. Sequoia Park Zoo also offers an annual membership that includes discounts and invitations to special events. read more

The zoo has improved a lot since we were kids. The best part is the redwood skywalk, which provides a beautiful view of the redwood trees and some animals, including bears and their cute cubs. It doesn't have as many animals as the San Francisco Zoo, but it's a great place for kids and adults in our small town. There's a food court and gift shop with lots of fun souvenirs. The admission prices are pretty high, but it's worth it if you're from out of town and want to experience a beautiful walk among the redwood trees. read more

Very highly rated zoo. They have many personalized experiences and are constantly innovating to make it easier to see things in nature which are difficult for the public to access 1) spider monkeys. See how loud and powerful they can be. 2) bald eagles. This is the closest you can get to one for a photo. Stunning bird. 3) steelhead in running creek exhibit. They try to stock fish spawning Might be better to see them in headwaters park but have to hike during the right time of year to see salmon spawning. 4) red panda. they like cold. lethargic in summer months. 5) farm animals. Can go into pen and brush the goat and sheep hair. Gets tangled easily like long hair cats. 6) canopy walk: better than the tourist trap canopies. 7) bears and coyotes coming this spring. read more

10/10 would recommend for all ages! Took a road trip to Oregon and made this a 1/2 day stop, was so worth it. It was very wet but very green, lush, and beautiful. It was like a joke coming here. We were visiting, and didn't know their website couldn't be depended upon for hours of operation. We showed up 1.5 hrs before closure and we're told by a lady guarding the entrance they already closed for a Star wars event, but will open at 5pm. Since that was 30 min from the time we were there, we waited and watched the bizarre humans gather in a line, dressed like poor man's Star Wars characters, all to enter a zoo with virtually zero animals to bw seen and most enclosures weren't even open altogether, vand line up for alcohol. There was literally nothing even in the zoo that had to do with Star wars. It was truly bizarre. We went to see the Red Pandas, Bears, and Otters, none of which could be seen. $25 to enter a zoo that had no animals was insanity. Such a wasted space and total rip off. read more

It has the tourist draw of the Redwood Skywalk and a cool new bear/coyote exhibit coming in. Plus there is a llama, alpaca, river otters, flamingos, birds, turtles. It's located in a charming city park that has a redwood path below the skywalk and a nice rose garden. Pricey at $24.99 for tourists but the bathrooms are clean so it's a good stop after driving. Stopped by after work. It's a very cute location, a little bit small, but packs a lot in. I'm a sucker for red pandas and sea otters, so much cuteness together. I still think the otters look like they are having more fun, but it's a close one. Just hopefully you can catch the red pandas when they are active. You can cover just about everything in an hour so don't worry for time. Hours/days are extended Memorial-Labor Day. The real highlight is the skywalk - I made 3.5 loops - it's just so majestic to be up there, the sun catching through the canopy. If you ever wanted to imagine the ewok life - now is the time haha! You eventually are pretty high off the ground and can look down to admire the different levels of the trees. Some of the bridges are a little shakier to add to the excitement, part of it is wheelchair accessible. $25 for adult non-resident ticket FYI read more

My husband and I were in Eureka looking for something fun to do. We decided to go to the Sequoia Park Zoo. For out of town people it cost $45, which we thought was quite a lot for a very small zoo. There were 2 interesting animals to see only in my opinion, the eagles and the bear. They do have a cool new sky trail to see the bears from above, which gave us an excellent view of one bear. But most of the other animals were not on display, so I was angry and disappointed. Maybe it is better on the weekend, we were there on a Friday. But we should of been warned that many animals weren't out on display. Almost felt like asking for a refund, sure we wouldn't get one! Way too much money for what we got to see, or didn't get to see! read more

What a beautiful hidden gem of a zoo! It's small but quaint and up close with the animals. The best is the new walkway amongst the redwood trees and they have fun petting barn. My grandson enjoyed it very much and so did we. If you are in town is a must see read more

It is easy to get to if you are in Eureka. It has a walkway up in the trees that was fun to walk on. A few of the walkways were swinging bridges. It was quite original to have that in a zoo. What disappointed us was the small number of animals. We were able to see their one bear at feeding time (2pm). Some cages were empty. However it seems that one of there goals is to take in animals that can no longer live alone in their natural habitat. I don't think it was worth the $25.00 because of the lack of animals. I do need to say that those working at the zoo were very friendly and helpful read more

**As of this posting Masks are required. There are no vaccinations for the Animals that makes there home in this habitat.** This is a great attraction for the area residents and for all Travelers visiting the region. The main attraction is the Redwood Skywalk. It's an experience that must be met. There is a stroller parking for those with young ones. But everyone must walk the the pathway. They have a wide range of animals to see at a good visible distance with many FYI signage. The Aviary is an interesting attraction as you can the birds in there somewhat tame but cautious of visitors. The eagle nest area is also great as you can literally see 2 American Bald Eagles perched and watching all the visitors as they come in. For the toddlers to the 7 year olds. Visit the Barn. There the little ones can venture around and touch many of the animal there or play on the spider web and other kid related attractions with imagination. But don't chase the chickens! They are free range and they just walk all over the property. So parents please advise your child or children to not chase the chickens. There is a cafe and gift shop. Prices are reasonable in this day of age. But all of this is support the Zoo. Residents of the Area has a Annual Discount. Parking is on the main street and across next to the Elementary School and National Guard Depot. So please respect all known traffic laws and municipal codes. Enjoy! read more

This park is too good for Humboldt. It is almost nice enough to become a destination location and the local casino is doling out the cash for the small favor of putting their name in letters larger than the zoo animals. It is set in the burbs, so it gets a lot of families from the surrounding area. The trees and wildlife makes it surprisingly fantastic for a little country town. The zoo is now towards the end of renovations. The tree walk (swinging lats from redwood to redwood) never gets old, always fun. The bear exhibit is near end. The fabricated water ways, set to attempt an Alaskan experience, look promising. If it balloons they are going to need a lot more parking. Well worth a visit. read more
