I found this salon using Vagaro (love online booking!) and was able to get a Saturday appointment,…read morewhich has proven to be pretty difficult since I moved to this area. Stephanie provides excellent customer service (she texted me to see if I wanted to come earlier than my scheduled appointment). She took the time to talk about what I wanted for my hair and explained how she would make that happen. I got color and highlights, as well as a trim. I love love love the color. It's multi-dimensional and I've gotten tons of compliments. As for the haircut, I was just getting trimmed up, and she did exactly what I asked. For the amount of time spent (three hours) and the products used (I have a lot of hair), the price of $125 was very fair. I'm sure you can go to a chain salon and get cut and color for cheaper, but they are probably not going to take the time that Stephanie did on my hair. Chromatin offers many other services (nails, etc.) that I hope to try in the near future. I definitely recommend it for hair coloring service.

I've gone to many other salons in the Charleston area and for a full head of highlights and a trim its usually $150+, Stephanie only charges me $100. I'll never go to another hairdresser!

The lady was nice at first and told me that it would be 40$, also that it was by appointment only and no walk-ins. I told her that was fine and they had a couch and it was cool in there so I asked if me, my husband, and my one year old son could sit in there for like 2 mins just to cool off before walking home. Her response was "no hun there is a restaurant down the road." Which was just rude. I had my baby and my face was absolutely blood red. I'm not saying everyone there is bad! Just this older lady was! Think twice before getting your haircut here again!!

I didn't want my hair cut but he insisted, didn't put any products on my hair after washing it, and well the pictures speak for themselves regarding the color job. I had asked for heavy highlights all over my head (which I usually get from a different salon) because my roots were growing out. It didn't end well but I did get a refund. I'm not quite cute how he has a cosmetology license. Michael was a great person just horrible at dying hair.

I had moved to Charleston some time ago from another state where I had taken for granted having…read moreaccess to very advanced and technical stylists. After four years here in WV, I was still having trouble finding a stylist that can cut technical and fashion-forward hair. Then I met Michael. Michael looks like a combination of Edward Scissorhands with a waistcoat and some steampunk vibes going on. His energy can be described as lively and friendly and you immediately know, this guy knows what he is doing and he is an artist! He has multiple locations, and I sat in an antique barber chair on the Quarrier St. location. I had wanted a modern shag cut with a specific fringe and had a picture. He knew exactly how to make it happen and watching him cut hair is nothing short of magic! As he made his way around my head, cutting, swishing and thinning, I could tell he was sculpting something good out of something drab. ( He even had me turn my head upside down for him to balance the cut!) I have to mention he has his OWN private label hair products and they smell AMAZING. (I recommend the honey shampoo/conditioner) I couldn't be happier with my hair, and that is no easy feat as I am a picky little brat. Charleston is lucky to have him for those of us who want rock-star hair, or a precision pixie he is the guy! This man is a trained Barber/ Stylist combo, so when you find that, you better not let go. He has trained in London and LA and it shows. His haircuts feel tailored just for you. I left today feeling cute, like Joan Jett mixed with a little Carol Brady.
