They offer German white hardneck garlic, seed garlic, garlic bulbs, and garlic braids. The farm stand is in an old tobacco barn. I went a couple times and thought it was awesome. The prices were great and they had a huge variety of produce. One time, they posted on social that the flowers were free to pick. If you love fresh produce and supporting a small business, I highly recommend.

But the end of their season comes with a fantastic bonus for anyone that can get over to West Granby before October 12. That bonus is as many flowers as possible that you can cut and take home from their acres of flower farms. For Free. We saw people out there today with shopping bags, and laundry baskets scooping up their share of gorgeous flowers. Although some of the flowers (especially the sunflowers were way past peak), rest assured there were a ton of gorgeous fresh flowers representing every color of the rainbow still available. We cut and took home enough to fill three vases, of which we kept one and donated the other two to the local Senior Center to brighten the desks of two administrators. So, if you are in the area and have a hankering for some free flowers, set your navigation system to West Granby and enjoy. Just do it before October 12.

All to benefit the Department for the year to come. The lobster, chowder, and FRESH CORN on the cob absolutely worth the ticket and knowing you're helping out a life saving cause. My fess-up confession: My wife shamed this grumpy old guy into going. It was a hot day, I had a list of to-do's, and it had all ready been a long day. So, I gave in, I wouldn't let selfishness win. From the moment we arrive I took immediately to the live music ringing out, the kiddo's playing games, eating hotdogs, and petting our dog. The lobster tent packed with other happy attendees wiping butter from their cheeks, sipping on a beer, and chatting with others. This year was my first experience attending. Yup, this shall be an annual favorite from here forward.

You pay for a meal ticket and get on a line that runs through a large service tent. You pick up a tray and start moving toward the back of the tent. The food is cooked behind the scenes, so all you see are volunteers coming out of the kitchen with your food, A tray with cups of clam chowder appeared first, then full plates with whole boiled lobsters, corn on the cob, and a small container of melted butter. AT the back of the tent you can get beer, or a soft drink. Some people paid for extra corn or extra chowder. Some people ordered their food "to go" and whisked it away to their cars. We ate under one of the adjacent dining tents. The chowder was very good- thick with clams and potatoes. The lobsters were pre-split, which made them easy to access; it would have been challenging to liberate them from their shells with just the plastic utensils we received. The lobster was good -fresh tasting and of a decent size. There is a separate room inside the fire station dedicated to desserts- where you could buy slices of cakes or pies. No dessert was included with the $18 meal - not even a cookie. Room for improvement? Well I guess I could debate the value of the $18 - but the more I thought about it (Beer plus chowder plus a lobster for the benefit of a local Fire Department) I really can't quibble. Toss in free music and a craft festival, and it really is a fun family activity. But I will say this, There was a woman volunteer working on crowd control and showing people where to line up that can use some work on her public relations skills.

It was a tremendous experience, maximized by the beautiful facility that is the Performing Arts Center at Simsbury Meadows.. The Center is located on Iron Horse Boulevard behind Simsbury Center. You can either reserve a table for 8 near the front of the stage, or bring your own chair and sit in the gigantic general admission lawn. We were at one of the tables and had a very nice view of the stage. The sound system was perfect, and as the night progressed, the stage lighting also added to the show. The Center's hundreds of volunteers were great at directing us to our seats and giving us a nice glossy program. Before the show we took a stroll over to "Vendor Row" to check out the booths. There were 2 radio stations there with games and freebies (my buddy tossed a tennis ball into a basket and won a CD), Kane's Market was selling dogs and burgers, and J J Fosters was doing a brisk business selling ice cream. Tonight's show was part of the Talcott Mountain Music Festival. A different entity also runs concerts at the Center (Peter Frampton, Harry Connick). The Talcott Mountain shows lets you bring in alcohol (hallelujah!), while the other group doesn't. One of the Center volunteers we chatted with before the show said their "no alcohol" policy extends to "no water bottles" too. Of course they sell all of that for your enjoyment and financial support. Tonight's music was fantastic. I guess the danger in covering the Stones is running the risk of becoming an exaggerated parody; but these guys were great. The band churned out hit after hit from the Stones' 50 year vault of gold. The front man had that thin Mick Jagger look, and he made the crowd roar with laughter as he taught us three essential "Jagger moves". Oh, and believe it or not, a woman rushed the stage, went to embrace the lead singer, and she was bear hugged by security and tossed out!!

I read reviews and gathered that it was a great place to visit, especially during the autumn time. The parking lot was spacious right off the busy road. They offer hayrides and there was a pumpkin patch; you can pick your own in the field or in the store. There was a garden center and farm store. The farm store had jams, jellies, apples, gourds, cookies, veggies, pumpkins, mums, hot sauces, etc. They had wheelbarrows for you to use, if you're planning to buy a few big pumpkins. They also had an apple fritter/donut/cider stand. I purchased half a dozen of apple fritters for $8; you can add extra cinnamon sugar. Those apple fritters looked like donut holes but tasted like apple donuts, it was very splendid! Overall, a great spot to stop by if you're into the small town farm vibes. The owners Amy and Steve were super nice and helpful. My family and I went on Black Friday to purchase a pre-cut tree for $80. Currently, their trees are just babies and growing. They had two types of pre-cut trees to choose from; there were a few to choose from but we found the perfect tree! They had a vendor onsite making spiked hot chocolate, espresso martini, and various others. The interior of the barn was cozy with plenty of seating. There were plenty of items you can purchase in there, such as soap, honey, ornaments, etc. We got to pet the animals on the farm right outside, my children loved it. They also hosts events such as candle and ornament making, to name a couple. Overall, a lovely place to visit for events, purchase a Christmas tree, and even pet some farm animals!
