Hill…read moreLandscape and Hillcrest Landscape is basically the same business with the same owner, but the owner just uses a different name on Yelp to dodge the bad reviews he has on the Hillcrest page. https://yelp.to/5FaW-DyC5T Terrible customer service. Originally gave me a quote, and provided me with his "insurance", but never called me back and hasn't returned my phone calls. I believe the insurance he provided was for lawn care, and wasn't designed to cover tree removal; and when I asked about this he stopped returning my calls. In our last conversation he implied he would have the insurance confirm it was for tree removal after the weekend on the first business day, but as it turns out, now he's ghosting me. Made me waste a week thinking I found a company to do the work I required. I could have spent that time looking for a company that could do the work. Basically multiple reviews for his former business echo this sentiment. This is why he renamed his business from Hillcrest to Hill.

Precise and efficient work from a team that clearly works well together...they did exactly what they said they would. Very tidy clean-up. The price tag ultimately felt like really good value for everything they provide. We had a particularly complicated tree (very tall and right next to power lines and the house), and they were both willing to take on the challenge (unlike some other companies) and handled it perfectly. Their big cranes, which most other local companies don't have, differentiate them as much as the guys who do the truly impressive work. Highly recommended.

It has been easy to get understandable quotes and the quotes were honored. They also noted which trees could wait for removal or didn't need to be removed. It feels like they are an "old-school" company in that they offer excellent service at a fair price, communicate clearly and respectfully, do what they say they will do, and offer helpful advice and information in the process. I cannot imagine using any other service as long as KDF is in business. I enthusiastically recommend them in the strongest possible way.

You get a licensed Arborist, not just a guy who cuts down trees. The owner/Arborist is an artist and an acrobat in trees 100 feet tall. His work was better than I could have hoped for and was exactly what I had asked him and his workers to do. My request was very difficult: to remove 5 pine (spruce) trees that were growing up and through a huge, ancient (possibly 250 years old) red oak tree that is being considered as one of Connecticut's notable trees. Most of the pine trees were over 100 feet tall. This was no easy task, because the red oak had to be pruned and protected, while cutting down and disentangling all the pines from within its branches. They did a GREAT JOB! The Arborist and his workers were not only extremely helpful in their communication with me, but were professional, knowledgeable, courteous, timely, and not only did an exceptional job on removing the 5 trees. but also, a great job at cleaning up, removing all the debris, and protecting the yard. My home, my yard, my red oak tree, and even my driveway looked perfect when they finished. The Arborist even looks out for animal nests and baby animals while cutting trees. What could be better! I am happy to give a well-deserved top-notch 5 Star-Rating to the owner/Arborist Mike Strubhar and his workers. The Orion Tree Co. is the BEST tree company our there!

I called Orion Tree Company, and they were extremely helpful and knowledgable about all the possible angles I could take. They came out and removed a load dead branches, leaving a flawless clean up in their wake. Not even a twig left on the lawn after an understandably messy trimming process while they addressed the dead branches. We're going to try a fertilizer treatment later in the season, as per their suggestion. They were very transparent, as far as how practical or realistic any course of action we might take - our tree is most likely going to die, so with the treatment suggestion they also warned that there was no guarantee this would work, and we would most likely lose the tree anyways. I wouldn't hesitate to refer Orion Tree Company if you're looking for a professional arborist.

Steve was out the next day to take a look and quote it...recommended that the whole tree come down which we were fine with - why wait until something happens and it takes down the wires nearby or a car driving under it! Also asked him to quote removing various branches and small trees around the yard, and removing a couple of precariously balanced trees brought down by past storms. The quoted amount was very fair. To watch them carefully remove branches, then trunks, move from the yard to the chipper was like a choreographed dance! These guys know what they are doing! Toward the end of the quoted cleanup we had Steve look at an old, OLD decaying maple in the woods which could easily reach the house given the right weather circumstances and Steve walked down and around it to survey the damage and emphatically indicated it should be taken down. Fairly quoted on the spot. It was at the outer limits of getting their equipment in to it but they did it! They removed the branches and left the trunk for the wildlife. A superb job done by all and super nice people, as well. Don't hesitate to use them...you won't be disappointed!
