On Dec 12 2024 at Scarborough towncentre, my sister was followed around in Sephora, asked multiple times if she wants to hold a basket for the items she is going to buy that she's holding in her hands and to each of the salespeople who asked her to hold a basket she said no. One even radioed to ask if customers are allowed to hold things in their hands. Since when is carrying a basket a requirement to shop inside of Sephora? Then she continued shopping around the store deciding on whether she wanted what she picked up. She then put things down around the store as she decided to buy them or not, like everyone does while they shop in every store anywhere. My sister went to the cash to pay for the perfume she was going to buy. While standing at the cash, a manager asked my sister where the lip balm was that she decided she didnt want to buy today and where around the store she had put it. My sister said that she didnt have it but the manager said COME SHOW ME. Hold on, since when do customers need to show where we have put something down that we dont want to buy anymore? The manager was already holding three things that my sister specifically had put down. My sister got out of the cash line up with the perfume she was about to buy, and showed the manager where she had put down the lip balm. What if it wasnt where she had put it? Would the manager then have my sister searched next? How is this okay? This is unacceptable. Then when my sister expressed that this is very wrong, its racial profiling and started to cry inside Sephora at Scarborough towncentre, they asked my sister if she still would like to purchase the perfume! You follow her around, accuse her, make her show where the items around, then ask if she will still buy it just so you can make your sale? The one thing I love about Sephora is the fabulous customer service! They always have plenty of knowledgeable staff on the floor to assist customers and once engaged, they stick with you until point of purchase. They are completely customer focused. Even though Sephora was one of the first companies to get their passbook up and running for iPhone, this store is not equipped with scanners so don't forget to bring your Beauty Insider card with you. read more

Super great customer service! Obviously I'm not a customer at Sephora myself, but I stopped here to buy a Christmas gift, and I didn't know much about what I'm buying.. but the customer service was exceptional! I asked a host girl standing at the front, and explained to her what I'm looking for, she immediately paged a girl for me who arrived at the stop within seconds... took me to the right section, explained things to me, and I was off to the cashier.. although it was a really long line, but they had about 6-8 cashiers which made things go much faster.. the girl at the cash was real helpful, she asked if I need a gift box (after she put the gift/receipt in a bag) which not many would ask, considering the long line, but that IS customer service at its best, when you handle each and every customer as your best top priority. She then grabbed me a gift box, offered to do it herself since it's a little complicated, she got everything wrapped up beautifully and I was right out the door in no time. Came into the store to do a straight exchange for a Sephora brand eyeliner as I had purchased the wrong colour less than a week prior. The girl at check out needed a sku for one of the products and she left the cash. She was approached by another customer and proceeded to help that person out, leaving me at the cash -mid transaction- for almost 5 minutes. Upon her return, she apologized and rung up the exchange. She then told me that I owed an additional $2.60 as my original eyeliner purchase was done during a 20% off promotion. I told her it was a straight exchange and I shouldn't be paying the difference. A manager then stepped in and told me I HAD to pay it. I proceeded to explain to her that I was not told by anyone that I couldn't do a straight exchange. The manager then said, and I quote, "YOU SHOULD KNOW THIS, YOU HAVE TO PAY, I CAN'T DO ANYTHING." I was very infuriated at this point. I explicitly told her, "Show me exactly on your refund policy that I should be paying this difference and I will gladly pay." She then authorized the first girl to override it on the POS and she gave me the stink eye. However, the conversation did include further word exchange, mostly of the manager trying to prove her point that I have to pay. I have worked in retail and sales for over 16 years. Customer service is what is sorely lacking at the Scarborough Sephora. I came in for a straight exchange. The Scarborough manager knew full well she could have overrode such an easy transaction from the start but her resistance and arrogance made it the worst customer service experience I have ever had. This store needs better training on ensuring that clients are leaving smiling and feeling beautiful and NOT being prompted to write scathing reviews on Yelp. read more

There is one girl there in particular who is VERY rude. When my friend walked in, she was rude from the start. Even as a cashier, she wasn't talking or offering the best customer service. She honestly looked like she hated her job and hated everyone in there. I would refrain from hiring people with bad personality's as this is a crucial selling point. read more

I have been to Sephora many times in different days and times and there service is always poor. I had to literally beg for costumer service.. I am absolutely impressed with the level of customer service that this Sephora location offers. I have gone into many Sephoras and thus far, the Scarborough location is the only one that I feel comfortable inside. I will always come to this Sephora now. I do NOT like the Eaton Centre location or really any other location for that matter. Scarborough location is the only one I'm loyal to and that's thanks to its superior service. Great selection of products, as always. What can I say, it's Sephora :) The staff are helpful, but I wouldn't say that they are more helpful than the staff at other makeup stores/counters that I have visited. They weren't exactly friendly, but helpful. The staff are very honest about the products, which I appreciate (they definitely will not push you to buy the pricier product, but what works best for you). All in all, this is a pretty nice store. Great for makeup lovers. I wouldn't consider myself one of them, but it's still a nice place to get what I need. read more

I don't usually write reviews but this has me a little on edge... Right now my skin is super dry and it looks like I've gotten sunburned... In October... Because of a skin care product a girl in Sephora told me to use. I made it very clear my skin is extremely sensitive as well as I made it very clear how quickly this needed to be resolved - not that she can control my skin, she certainly has the option of controlling my purchases when I come to an apparent cosmetic student for help. Did you know apparently you don't even need a hughschool diploma to work there? Not only do you not need to go to the year of Beauty school, let alone get any certificates but you don't need a lick of apparently ambition to get a hughschool diploma, which leads me to believe the ignorance of the product which I am only finding out now is NOT USED for sensitive dry skin, came from an uneducated and clearly Unqualified worker. You can't just know how to make your skin look nice or your makeup, if you work at an establish as successful and blooming as Sephora or Mac etc. You have to know what looks good on certain skin tones with their eye colour hair colour - yeah maybe they don't pay enough there. But I'm sure no one at Rogers works the without having to know or be responsible for specific problems. Came into the store to refund some Makeup Forever Artist Eyeshadows. Long story short the employees had no idea about the pricing for the shadows and they work there! I was given the nastiest look when I came to the cash to do a refund and when it was processed incorrectly the cashier called the manager who then rudely asked me "If you bought it last night at another Sephora why are you returning it here the next day?" She was rude and unprofessional. In general the employees at this location are rude. She couldn't figure out why there was a discrepancy with my return and then called another manager who was even more 'lovely' than herself. When I tried to explain to them why they couldn't figure it out the manager started rolling her eyes and made faces at the other manager. I love Sephora but avoid this particular location even though it is the closest to where I live. read more

As a woman 40+ who's shopped at Sephora for years (even before it was in Canada) I left this store offended based on two visits months apart. On my first visit, I was shopping for a Christmas gift for a friends daughter. It was a weekend leading up to Christmas, they had extra staff on, yet despite seeing staff chatting with each other I couldn't get a staff member to help me with a makeup gift set choice (I left and & went to MAC after 45minutes of trying & overhearing one staff member tell another, "I hate helping these old women") All the sales associates I tried to flag down seemed downright miserable. (You're about 17 with a part-time job in a great store; how is this the depth of misery?) On my second visit, it was a weekday evening and I was shopping for myself. I asked about makeup for someone my age and haircare products. Well, what can I say? Two of the salespeople openly rolled their eyes at each other when I asked what they could tell me about the product I was looking at ("uh, look it up yourself" was what they agreed I should do instead of asking them). They gave the impression they'd rather be doing anything than talking to a woman my age. Wow. After years of buying at Sephora I again left empty handed. Seriously, if this is how you treat a regular customer at this point, I'm done. read more

This store is understaffed. I never bother trying to get anyone to help me because I don't want to wait for 20 minutes until someone is free, also I feel like my questions are never really answered. I don't think a lot the people working here know what they're talking about. The last time I asked for help it was regarding what shade of concealer I should get, the girl just swatched a couple shades on my hand as if I couldn't do that myself. I also make sure to avoid this place like the plague around Christmas or any events as the line is always 50 people deep. read more

This store must get a lot of shoplifters. I say this because I had to be stalked and gawked as I walked around looking for the right gift for my sister. This happened to me on ALL occasions that I visited the store I'm sure it's because I had 2 kids with me including 1 stroller. I happen to be hard working and never stole in my life. Maybe they should hire tall security so that the short or average height workers who should be applying proper costumer service don't have to get caught up in playing security guards/private investigators. I must say they are more friendly and smiley than the Fairview sephora I do prefer them better that's why the 2 stars are there but having the impression from their workers by stalking you around the store making mom's with strollers feel like they're assuming she's a thief is very offensive. I'm very turned off and I dread having to shop at sephora sometimes because of this very reason. read more
