Over the last eight months, our family has been walking through one of the hardest seasons we've…read moreever faced. Our daughter has been battling serious health issues and was recently diagnosed with epilepsy. We've spent countless hours in hospitals, doctors' offices, therapy appointments, and waiting rooms. Through it all, I've learned something important: It's the little things that make the biggest difference. It's the people in our communities. The neighbors who wave. The strangers who ask how you're doing. The nurses who care for your child. The workers who quietly clean hospital rooms. The teachers, dentists, barbers, grocery store employees, church members, and friends who may never realize how much their kindness means. We all impact one another more than we know. Yesterday, after bringing my daughter home from the hospital, I was exhausted--physically, emotionally, and mentally. A little while later, my son came into my room after getting his haircut at Top Shelf Barber. Jaxon had cut his hair, and I honestly couldn't believe how great it looked. Jaxon always does an amazing job, but this one was especially good. My son looked so handsome, and more importantly, he was absolutely glowing with confidence and excitement. That moment reminded me of something I've been thinking about a lot lately: we need each other. We live in a culture where people are quick to leave bad reviews, tear others down, or talk behind someone's back. But what if we chose something different? What if we had the hard conversations when needed, showed grace, offered encouragement, and looked for opportunities to build people up instead of tearing them down? As Christians, we're called to love our neighbors as ourselves and to be a light in the world. That doesn't mean we always agree. It means we choose kindness, respect, honesty, and grace, even when it's difficult. If something isn't right, talk to people. Help them improve. But when someone does something well, tell them. Leave the review. Give the compliment. Offer the handshake. Share the smile. So this is my thank you to Top Shelf Barber and especially to Jackson. Thank you for caring about your craft. Thank you for helping a young man feel confident. Thank you for being one of those people who make a positive difference in the lives of others, whether you realize it or not. The world needs more kindness, more conversation, more grace, and more love. And sometimes, it starts with something as simple as a haircut.

When I moved to Utah I went to all the medical spas to test them out. Ruma was pricier than the…read moreothers and I assumed it was because Shelby is good at marketing. But I still wanted to see what the buzz was about. Cutting to the chase, the reason Ruma drives a higher ticket price is Shelby is a genius (and I went to the University of Chicago and have had billionaire (with a b) entrepreneurs as clients across a host of disciplines including science & tech - so I'm careful when I choose to use that word). I would feel completely confident having injections from her or anyone who is trained by her - and my husband and I are 41/44 (the age where things get trickier). I look amazing now and was a bit of a wreck having just had a baby at 40 (my skin was loose and things weren't where they should be, I was starting to look witchy). My husband looks amazing now and he's 44. Well worth the $. Is Shelby pricier than other places? Yes. But if cost is an issue I would still go to Ruma, just go less often. With regard to some of the less glowing reviews on Yelp: starting a business is hard. You can be a genius at what you do, but how do you successfully manage everyone's schedules, your front desk staff, and make sure every client is perfectly cared for? It takes trial & error, and Ruma is still very new. You have to be patient. My first appointment had a hiccup with scheduling, but when people look at me they ask what in God's name I'm doing. So... some relationships are worth being patient for, and Ruma is one of them. The one thing I'll say about it is this: when I stated my first business at 28 I got excoriated for not nailing customer experience. But I was the product: people wanted what I could give them, and I had it to give, and was the best at it. I wasn't perfect at scaling yet. Same here with Shelby. She's done an amazing job - her staff is clearly on top of it and happy - but if there's a mistake, honestly who cares? Give it time. The clients who tore me apart by-and-large came back later and wanted to work with me so... look at the bigger picture. Stick with SpaceX they'll get the bugs out.

For those that don't speak medical, that means your Doc is super disarming and easy to talk to about your issues. I see some reviews said negative things about the staff (one girl wrote a novel, which is...interesting, and not very forgiving/realistic), but my experience with the staff has always been nothing but positive. Zero issues or concerns. And their office is SUPER new/nice compared to others I've been to in California & Utah. We recently moved, and I even asked Dr Myers what to look for in a new Dermatologist, because I trust his opinion so much. I wish he would have moved his family with us! Don't let that young face fool you, the man knows his stuff.

Easy to set up a cut in their digital system and got seen right away. Macy attended to us and although both wanted military style cuts, we each had a different style. My daughter said they used men's product towards the front of her hair. I believe it was to bring down some of the frizz. I think conditioner, and more treatment was necessary. To top it off. It was a $40 blowout at a barbershop. They don't even charge $40 at salons. Called local salons before we settled to take our chances with this place and they quoted me $25-$30. They probably do great men's cuts, good people, nice vibe. Should've told us not a good idea and they couldn't get it done.

I've been here a few times now and have had great experiences every time!…read more Most recently, I had Hannah as my massage therapistz With me being pregnant; I have to have a special pillow layout and everything; she made sure I was comfortable and applied the right pressure at different points. She was great! Their pricing is great, especially if you have a Groupon ;) and the massage therapists are awesome. Make sure to check-in because you can get a free essential oil add on during your massage! Worth $5!

Getting there deal was nice and helpful deciding which add on to do - I did the Himalayan salt stones. The waiting area is just in the front which is different from most massage studios I go to where it's a calmer darker room to wait. Still nice and they offered hot towels if you wanted. The massage room was pretty normal. They asked what type of pressure and massage I wanted. The massage itself was, not great. I asked for deep pressure and it just felt like getting oil rubbed on me. There was no target around the muscles and even when I asked for deeper pressure it remained the same. It felt like maybe my therapist was new and didn't know what he was doing. I asked to avoid my hair and he massaged my scalp and messed with my hair anyways. The Himalayan salt stones were nice but they were used for a few minutes on my back and that was it. In addition my massage ended 10 minute earlier than it should have. It was a 90 minute massage not 80 minute so that was quite annoying as well. Will not be back.
