This sephora is my absolute favorite . There is reason behind it, i use to go to sephora at topanga mall but the girls work over there is very rude, they don't help much , bad attitude . I went to sherman oaks which was kind of ok, i went to jc penny sephora they were also okay, but the girls who work on this location in northridge mall , they r very nice , ready to help everyone. And super sweet. I went there three weeks ago , some of the product they don't have them but still they are my favorite. They know how to make customers. read more

Never had an issue with return/exchanges whenever I needed to do so & I always was provided with requested samples to try a product before committing to buy it. I absolutely love the staff in this location! Not only are they welcoming but super helpful. I was struggling on finding the perfect foundation but not once have they ever mistreated me. On the contrary, they were encouraging & made it fun. Employees like Gabby, Carmella, & Reyna are absolutely amazing! Im telling you, the staff is phenomenal! I was so impressed I called personally to management of this location to compliment them on this. I appreciate them taking proper protocol to shop safely. You're able to shade match but it is required you swatch on yourself but the artist is there with you every step of the way providing the swatches for you to try on. They never make you feel guilty if a return/exchange is needed; sometimes it happens the product doesn't work out or it doesn't match no worries. Wish I could give you gals & guys more stars!!!! This is the stand alone store inside the Northridge Mall. My mom and I had a great experience thanks to Leti who was extremely knowledgeable and helpful in the skincare department. She was so nice and was able to understand all of our needs for which products to choose for our own individual skin issues. She even took the extra time to show my mom how to fill in her eyebrows. Ive been to sephora over a million times and a lot of the floor attendants are so quick to just point you to whatever product that really doesn't suit your needs. It's been long over due since I've came across excellent customer service! If you ever need thorough, attentive service Leti is the go to person. read more

Customer service was a joke!!!! 3 girls at the cashier looked beyond unhappy and couldn't even look me in the eyes when I walked up. It felt as if they didn't want to look at me because they didn't want to ring me up. The 2 girls at the front were busy in their own conversation & did not make me feel welcomed in. Service needs an overhaul. More training perhaps? I walked in and asked for the Dyson Airwrap, one of the salesmen immediately tells me "we're sold out," without even checking! AsI'm walking out of the store I hear him ask on his headphone "do they have any more Dysons?" AS I'M WALKING OUT! Why are these salespeople so quick to say no? The store manager patricia was so utterly disrespectful, following me around and looking at me from the corner of her eye to see if I was possibly stealing. First of all I've spent way too much money at Sephora to be disrespected like this. She not once greeted my friend and I, she was more concerned about trying to give us a fucking bag to put our things in. She was rude. I will not come to this location again because of how this woman treated me. She knew I was upset because she had the audacity to tell my girl that her sandals were "so cute" when she saw us in line at the register. Don't be fucking rude. 5 stars are not nearly enough. Julie was AMAZING. I am a 50 yr old crossdresser and usually feel very uncomfortable going to women's clothing sections or looking at the women's shoe section and this was my first serious learning for makeup basics and how to do it simple and natural. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by one of the managers and she immediately made me feel welcome, comfortable and calm. I explained to her what I was a little early for the class and had some questions to see if what I got was right for me looking for she asked me a couple of questions and told me that the artist in charge of the class will be with me in a moment and will be able to answer my questions. Julie came up to me about a minute or two later and gathered a little more information, then had me sit down in the chair at the makeup center. She asked about foundation coverage and what kind of skin I have (dry or oily) and when I shrugged my shoulders, she said that she would do one side of my face one way and the other side another so that I could see the difference. She wanted to make sure that I understood what she was explaining while answering my questions and concerns. She even made some suggestions and gave me some ideas that I realized made perfect sense and would make a difference. Julie was very sweet, warm, friendly, kind, very professional and so incredibly patient with me, as I asked a ton of questions (with a steps breakdown) to make sure I was doing everything right. I apparently was able to read her mind as each question that I asked, she said that she was either going to talk about that now or about to get to that in a couple of moments. She to the time to not just cover the material of the class but to briefly address my questions about other areas and said that she will have classes covering those topics. I really felt as if I was talking with and getting makeup tips from a friend. Julie made all of my fears and reservations including any discomfort melt away and she made me feel at home. She is a true representation of a precious gem of a human being. As I was exchanging a couple of things and purchasing a couple more things, I asked the manager who happened to walk by, I told her everything I listed above and said that Julie is a gem, was amazingly patient and helpful. I am looking forward to the next classes. I would also mention that it is very obvious that Julie is not there just for a paycheck and that she truly and genuinely cares about her work and her clients. I cannot recommend Julie and this store enough. 5 stars are not nearly enough for this young lady. I would give Julie a 20 on a 1 to 10 scale. There are so many companies that deal with "customer service" that can learn so much from Julie and what real customer service is all about. UPDATE 2/9/2020 I left a review about a month ago and had to add another one. I am about to attend my 5th class with Julie who I call my "makeup guru". As I said before I am a 50-year-old crossdresser and have always been nervous about shopping for women's clothes, shoes, or makeup but as soon as I walked into the Northridge Sephora for my first class I was immediately made to feel at ease and comfortable by makeup artist and instructor. Julie is absolutely amazing, patient, detailed compassionate, understanding and willing to answer any question. No matter how silly or stupid you make think it is, she always tells me the only way for her to know how I'm doing, if I am not understanding something or maybe misunderstood something, or even something I saw or heard and needs clarification and/or correction. Not to mention such positive and welcoming energy. July is a true gem. I also want to mention that every time I walk into the store, everyone has a smile, will say hello to me and ask me if I am here for another class or if I need something else. I always feel welcome and never judged for being who I am. At first, I thought it was just the "salesperson" talking and they are just looking for a sale, but I soon realized that they were just being themselves as genuine people. They really show what should be present in all of the customer service and retail industries. In addition to Julie, I also want to mention a few other individuals that have the same positive, friendly welcoming energy and attitude that I see every time I walk into the Northridge store. I shop at Sephora all the time and I have never been so disappointed with them till today. I'm not sure how this issue got mixed up but a few months ago I bought a Fenty foundation that was a shade too light for me so I decided to go back and exchange it for a darker one. The foundation was used a few time but the bottle was still full since I don't use makeup often. I love Fenty but I don't always love looking Matte, I love my skin looking hydrated and when I found out today that Fenty came out with a hydrating foundation I decided to buy it without a second thought and came back later on to return the older one. As I was attempting to return the nice lady at the register found my purchase of the older foundation and for some reason it went away and she couldn't help me return this product. The last time I had the same Fenty foundation was about a year ago and she said without the receipt as proof that I made the exchange she could not help me. I found my purchase history on my Sephora app and it showed that I purchased the shade lighter but not the one I exchanged it for. Somewhere during my exchange something went wrong obviously and I am truly upset that I had to spend more money on a new foundation that I love and not able to get my money back for a purchase that I clearly won't be using. I don't understand why my wallet should be the one punished for a mistake Sephora made during my transaction. I WANT MY MONEY BACK SEPHORA!! PS. I have been a rouge member before and I am so close to being a rouge member again and that means I spend about $1,000 a year on Sephora but they couldn't help out a valuable member. read more

Worst customer service I have ever experienced. Manager Danny forgot he was helping me and made me wait 39 minutes before I went up to find him helping other customers. How incompetent and disrespectful can you treat your customers? When I finally found someone to help me I was waved away by another associate who did not know the answer to my question. I basically found the perricone and caudalie skincare lines by myself but left with nothing. I'll give my business to Ulta before I spend another dollar with you guys. read more

I needed to get my makeup done for my birthday, so decided to a couple weeks before the date to book an appointment here. I usually pay a make up artist to do it whenever there's a special event, but didn't want to spend as much this time around. Anyhow, I'm glad I did book it at Sephora, cause the girl that did it, did a great job! Her name was Mella, and although I was 15 mins late, she was still able to do my makeup and did an amazing job on my eyes. Told her the colors I wanted and she nailed it! Would definitely book here again! It's less expensive than going to a mua and you get to purchase product towards the fee. Win win! read more

The blonde caucasian girl in charge of the fragrance section was rude. My husband and I were shopping for colognes and perfumes. We were testing samples with the strips they provide. When I was looking in the womens perfume, I could hear her from across asking my husband if he was leaving the used test strips on the counter in a rude way, as if she was bothered by it. Sample test strips were already laying on the counters where the colognes are, before we even got there. My husband and I know where the trash is, therefore there was no reason for us to leave it on the counter making a mess. I understand its labor day and it must've been a busy, long workday, but it was unnecessary to blame him for the mess that other customers had made. She can tell him about the mess, but can't greet or offer to help if needed? This young lady needs coaching in customer service. Some employees forget that customer service is number 1 priority in a business. How is the company suppose to succeed when employees lack knowledge to improve sales? I will be reaching out to corporate because this was unacceptable, and I would hate for another paying customer to get treated the way we were handled as long term customers. read more

This location was racist towards me . The manager refused my return due to their employee placing the wrong color shade in the wrong box and purposely causing me an inconvenience then when I tried to return the product the manager refused it . Even though it was not my fault . This is ridiculous and unethical . And done purposely because I refused to accept a mocha shade which is too dark for my skin so she gave me the mocha shade in the warm sand box for the Too Faced cosmetics . Then I had to file a complaint with corporate this is not right at all . They think all black women are really dark and that's not true . So they forced a mocha shade on me then put it in the lighter shade box making it impossible to return . read more

She answered all our questions and was very very knowledgeable with every makeup product. She was so kind, it was like I was having a conversation with a close friend. This is the first time I've gone without makeup to shop and everyone just looked at me and didn't ask if I needed help. I asked for help finding a match for my foundation and they ignored me. I asked three different associates if I could get a sample of the foundation I had chosen, just to take it home and see if i liked it. all three left me standing there at the section for foundation and told me to wait. They never came back. After 10 minutes I had enough and left very devastated. Worst experience. Never coming back. read more
