Strikingly beautiful wedding venue! The ground are lovely and well kept and the interior spaces are lush and fancy, yet completely comfortable! The wedding musicians were incredible! Sephardic Temple of Cedarhurst - Can't find a prettier house of worship in New York!!! - Synagogues Near Me - Cedarhurst, New York

My 91 year old mother attended a function at the Sephardic this week with her caregiver. The personnel would not allow the caregiver to accompany my mother who has dementia without paying.The caregiver was told by a worker my mother would be better off at home unless she wants to be a member. My mother has lived in the community for 65 years - well before Branch Blvd or the Sephardic Temple was around. My mother left by herself and was found a block away confused and lost. SHAME ON YOU SEPHARDIC TEMPLE!! One of the commandments is Love Thy Neighbor. Are you so hard up for funds to take money from a woman who is on a fixed income, and had paid for the program? This does not help the image of Jewish people but supports stereotypes and incites hatred. REALLY!! If I could give NO STARS I would. read more

Beautiful Temple. I attended a wedding here last Saturday with my husband. Jewish weddings are very meaningful and special...and the music chosen are often traditional, This was the 3rd time I attended a Jewish wedding, and so far the most lavish. All the preparations were carefully thought of from the invitations to the attires, the color theme, the food tasting, the Hor d'Oeuves, the flowers, the music, the dinner menu..The ceremony was at 8:30 pm and were there around 8:00....but the ceremony did not start until after 9:00pm. I knew then that were probably be home in the morning. People were gathered near the entrance when we arrived...having light cocktails, wine, Syrian chips with hummus etc before the ceremony...saw familiar faces , chit chat for a minute then......... the door opened to a huge amphitheater like auditorium, carpeted in red, somber music playing in the background, Huge vases on Pedestal arrangements with shades of white,cream & ivory, fresh flowers like roses, stephanotis, hydrangea, lilly of the valley, sweet pea arranged nicely lined up the stairs going down the "chupah" where the wedding ceremony took place. The chupah is a canopy held up by 4 poles, symbolic of their dwelling together. cameras strategically placed on the entrance where the entourage will be coming from as guest filled all over the seats around it. We sat right on the entrance so we can clearly see everything. The wedding ceremony was beautiful. The cantor chant the "Sheva Bracho't" (traditional seven blessings) The seven blessings are a key part of a Traditional Jewish wedding ceremony. the prayers were all read and chanted in Hebrew and English. After the seven blessings were recited the couple drinks from the glass and the groom smashed the glass with his right foot (to symbolize that even the most blessed moment is tempered with sorrow as long as the temple in Jerusalem has not been rebuilt} At this point the witnesses shouted "Mazal Tov" which means Good luck!!! Drinks, Hor d' Oeuves and Dinner followed provided by the High End Caterers Genadeen which provides exclusive Glatt Kosher catering....(I'll be writing a separate review) Music non stop was provided by a 12 man band(one woman) which rocked the place up to 3:00 in the morning. Can't believe I danced to the beat with my bionic right leg...Klezmer music was also provided...a style of traditional Jewish music that includes instruments like, clarinet, violin, guitars.....Absolutely a wedding to remember.....The groom was my boss only son..... read more

I had my wedding at the Sephardic Temple on February 9, 2014. The venue is astonishingly gorgeous. It is elegant and well maintained, and has magnificent skylights for the chuppah. The exclusive caterers, Genadeen Catering, served exquisite gourmet food praised by all guests as top notch. The food was delicious and plentiful and memorable in high quality. And working with Mr. Avi Abikzer was frankly a high honor. The man carries himself with utmost professionalism. Highly recommended. read more

This wedding could never have happened if it wasn't for Avi and Amy. Avi and Amy had hundreds of calls and emails during the 7 months between getting engaged and married and handled each one with poise keeping everyone calm and explaining many Modern Orthodox traditions that were foreign to my secular mother. He was at the wedding and checked on my mom every hour to make sure she was doing ok since she had a lot of fear about the more religious components to the wedding. Not only is Avi amazing in every way, but the food is also to die for. I wish that I could have been a guest at my wedding so I could have eaten my way through the night! My friends are still talking about our sushi bar, caviar bar and many of the items from our shmorg. My guests said even the main course was delicious. We didn't have a wedding planner, but at many times Avi felt like our wedding planner, our family mediator, our rabbi, he does it all and has a great team to help him. Avi cares deeply about making sure everything is perfect and we were lucky to have his help. Lastly, the synagogue is stunning. We had our wedding at 3pm in late September and by 5pm during our chuppah, it was the golden hour with a bright yellow streak of sunlight as a spotlight on us during our ceremony. We had our daughter's wedding at The Sephardic Temple on October 18th. Genadeen Catering and their staff deserve 10 stars!!!! We planned the wedding from Texas and Avi and Amy made it as seamless as possible. The day of the wedding Reena and Michael truly made it stress free and allowed us to have such a good time!!! It was a memorable evening and our guests are saying it was an 11 on a scale of 1 to 10. read more
