I really can't express what this church has meant to me. There are so many churches in NYC, and…read moreafter a long search, I settled on this one as my home church for the following reasons: 1.) There is a true community here. It's a small enough church so that the members know each other really well, and there are many opportunities to connect throughout the week: small groups, Bible studies, service opportunities, and a lot of hanging out. The church owns a small coffee shop that makes an amazing hang out/meet up place during the week. As a New Yorker who lives far from family, there is a level of support here that is indispensable. 2.) Lots of young families. While I do not have kids, it's wonderful to be in a place where there are so many young families supporting one another and sharing the gospel message inter-generationally. The church does a lot to support the kids in the community as well, including free family events, a weekly storytime, Sunday school, parenting support groups, and more. 3.) Sunday services focused on the basics. There is a strong message of God's love of us and our love of others. The sermons focus on the heart of the NT witness each week and are put into action in a community context. This church does a lot to serve the poor and stand with the oppressed, and does not shy away from difficult, relevant issues. There are many activists here. Many, many friendly people who are eager to make new friends and connect. It is not an awkward place to visit for the first time, which made coming here really comfortable in the beginning. 4.) Safe, non-judgmental context to discuss and share. This is a non-denominational evangelical church, but one that is more ecumenical than most. A diversity of Christian thought is represented here, and honest conversations are encouraged.

It is a large Church but My Pastors are annointed. Continued blessings.. i can not wait to see what God has in store for us there!!! My mom continued to go even tho I am judgemental about organized religion and the money it makes and the fact that they don't care about their members, only the money .. my mom has been diagnosed with parkinsons for close to 3 or 4 years.. she used to volunteer and work for free for all 3 services to dedicate herself to her church. which i didn't agree with. since she has been sick I'm the only one that takes care of her along with her health aide. I HAVE YET TO SEE ONE PERSON SHOW UP, ONE PERSON CALL TO SAY WE PRAYING FOR YOU .. I k now she would love to go but feels embarrassed and the organization that she spent soooo much time AND money supporting with her dedication to dropped like she wasn't nothing.. make your own decisions but if it were you or your mother how would you feel? I have even seen her wanting to watch a Sunday service since they left her for dead .. 0 stars should always be an option.. these mega churches are just that mega ... mega billshit, mega snoke and mirrors, mega false sense of community cause when they get sick... No where to be found.. you know what funny I don't know if my mom told them about her illness but you would think if someone put that time and energy in to YOUR organization and all of a sudden they stop showing up, I'd hope someone would reach out but NOPE!!

If you are newer to faith, someone unsure of what they believe, grappling with doubts or a long time believer, you will be met with kindness and support. They are also very active in the community offering practical support to those in need. I highly recommend TGC to anyone curious about faith or looking to be part of a church community.

The congregation fills up the school auditorium where we meet for service and people are from a range of ages and socio-economic groups. There are a LOT of young families. I just graduated from college and moved to the neighborhood finding community was really important to me - I emailed and sought out small group meetings and prayer meetings. I've been able to meet a handful of people from church through that. Even during the 3 minute fellowship time we have during Sunday service, I've gotten to meet people, exchange emails, get advice for my career path, etc! The past few sermons have been really insightful for me and also practically relevant to my life as a young person in new york. I've come to TGC at a kind of time of transition as they are going to offer two service times on Sundays soon. They are also supporting a new church in Crown Heights. This church feels like it genuinely cares about the neighborhood. Im glad Ive found TGC, to be a part of, and to support me as a young person seeking faith in NYC.

I tried the Hillsong mega experiences and also tried the traditional Methodist and Pentecostal environments. Non really resonated with my core at all. I didn't feel at home. When i tried Forefront, i didn't have any expectations. Church was warm and non invasive. People are real and humble. It's OK to not know what you're suppose to do at church but feel apart of it (this is what struck me most). There was a combination of good, warm music that got me into a peaceful state. The band that rotates every week are just really good folks who want to jam out to Christian Worship music! The Lead Pastor Jonathan is super relatable and is someone you would have a cold beer with. He's not your traditional pastor. He comes from a non-traditional background with an interesting upbringing which is why he's so relatable. I would consider Forefront a very progressive church, inclusive and diverse to all folks who are questioning. If you're looking for a warm comforting church filled with young families, professionals, artists or just anyone looking for Christ. This one works very well! This is my second year with Forefront Brooklyn and enjoy going every week. Free coffee and local bagels to boot! What's not to love?!

I have met so many friends that have selflessly helped me through difficult times with prayer and actions. I occasionally sing during worship service with my mother who is very active in the church. I also volunteer at KidsStuff, caring for children of all ages making art, reading passages, and singing songs. This is an inclusive FOR ALL church and has many small groups where you can connect with the community outside of service (game nights, poetry readings, etc.). It is the first place I have felt completely welcome and accepted for who I am. You are never preached down to or judged. I have found friendships, work connections, and most importantly people who have become family.
