Historic church downtown, this is lit at night and a quiet cemetery for reflections with historic and solemn visitors. They also serve meals here, as well as still conduct services weekly. Founded in 1697, beautiful Gothic revival architecture.

The grave of Alexander Hamilton.

This church and graveyard have surged in popularity because of the success of the play, "Hamilton." It's easy to think this church was not an attraction before the play. However, I visited this location as part of a field trip over 60 years ago because even then, it was famous for being one of the first public churches in the US, dating back to 1697, which makes it 328 years old. According to their website, "The Trinity Churchyard was likely used as a public burial ground as early as the 1660s, when the Dutch had control of New York and the city was still known as New Amsterdam. The oldest legible gravestone belongs to 5-year-oldRichard Churcher, who died in 1681." In addition to the very old grave stones (many which are illegible at this point, the church itself is very much worth seeing. It is beautiful and has gorgeous stained glass windows, more than I would expect for a Protestant Church. The church is larger inside than it first seems because it includes several smaller chapels. It's a worthwhile experience. The church is very near Wall Street, so if you are in lower Manhattan to see the Statue of Liberty, China Town, the Financial District, I recommend including this on your "must see" list.

I visited Trinity Church when I was in the neighborhood last weekend. It's just off Wall Street, but it's such a relaxing break from the go go go of Lower Manhattan. It's free to visit (although they welcome donations), and you do go through a bit of security when you enter. The church is really quite stunning, with its Gothic Revival architecture and stained glass. The church was the tallest building in the United States until 1869 and the tallest in New York City until 1890. Just next to the church is Trinity Churchyard, a burial ground where Alexander Hamilton is buried. It's worth a quick visit if you're in the area!

We didn't plan on stopping here - but as we were strolling through, we had to stop by. Tons of history to take in, dating back to 1697. Alexander Hamilton is buried here! That $10 bill you have in your wallet - this is your guy! You can enter for free - you will have to go thru security passing thru the metal detectors. Inside the church itself, brings a sense of peace and calmness. Whether you're there to simply pray or sit and soak in the history. You'll have to pay a visit.

Historic and beautiful landmark Episcopalian Church in the heart of the Financial District dating back to 1697. Apparently it is the 3rd version/rebuild of the church due to fires in the past. There's a cemetery on the grounds which serves as Alexander Hamilton's resting place among other notable historical figures. The church is opulent and the cemetery outlines gorgeous stone architecture. Stained glass window adorn the church which remains active with services every Sunday. If in the area, Trinity Church is a must visit.

Trinity Church stands on a hilltop at the junction of Broadway and Wall Street. Today its spire is dwarfed by skyscrapers, but in the early 1800s, the church's 200-foot spire dominated the landscape. Trinity Church dates all the way back to 1697 when King William III granted a charter to the church. The charter serves as the incorporation document for the church and states that the church must pay "one peppercorn" a year to the crown Three churches have stood on the spot. This structure is actually the third Trinity Church to exist. The first church burned down in the Great New York City Fire of 1776, the second was demolished in 1839 after snowfall caused structural problems, and this current structure was consecrated in 1846. Some interesting facts which I find during my visit & research: 1) Trinity Church was once the tallest building in New York City. when it was completed in 1846, Trinity Church held the title of tallest building in the United States for 23 years, until it was surpassed in 1869. However, it remained the tallest building in New York City all the way up until 1890, 2) When Trinity was granted its charter from King William III in 1697, the rent set by the English crown was "one peppercorne" per year. On July 9th, 1976, when Queen Elizabeth II visited the church, she was presented with 279 peppercorns as "back rent."

Chanced upon this beautiful historic church with stunning stained glass while walking around Wall Street and HAD to make a stop. Intersting location though...perhaps helpful for the Wolves of Wall Street to make a stop here to rinse off their sins.

Built in 1697, it is the oldest church in New York City. At the time of its completion, it was the tallest building in the city. The first Anglican church, its Gothic style stands out even among the skyscrapers. It is one of Lower Manhattan's most iconic structures and is currently a nationally designated historic building. It has been featured in the films "National Treasure" and "The Da Vinci Code." After several reconstructions due to fire and collapse, it has since been remodeled into its current form. The church interior is adorned with ornate stained glass and features a sacred altar and chapel. The church yard contains the graves of prominent figures who were prominent in New York City, including Alexander Hamilton, the first U.S. Secretary of the Treasury, and politician John Watts.

What an amazing experience. We went for Easter Sunday!!! Wow. First of all, this was so baby friendly . Like I can't even believe it. Everyone was so kind and welcoming. We had a full stroller area and everything. The service was beautiful and nobody even batted an eye when the kids started fussing and being kids. ThI decor was stunning highly recommend going back!

It is hard not to miss the 281-foot steeple of this beautiful church. Trinity Church is located in the heart of the financial district and faces Wall Street. I love old churches and this one is one of my favorites. Trinity Church was built in the mid 1800's and was once the tallest structure in New York City. Today it is dwarfed by many skyscrapers. Trinity Church Wall Street is still an active Episcopal parish and holds worship services each week and does community outreach. Both the Trinity Church and the Churchyard are open to the public daily during daylight hours. There is no charge to enter, but they do accept donations. You can walk on a pathway through the burial grounds in the courtyard. Despite being in a busy part of New York City, the grounds are very peaceful and tranquil. Alexander Hamilton, Albert Gallatin, and Robert Fulton are some notable people that are buried here. This is actually the third Trinity Church that was built in 1846. The first two were damaged by fire and weather. I love its Gothic Revival design. It is one of my favorite churches to photograph. The church has 23 bells that you can hear ringing from time to time. The doors are made of bronze and very impressive to see in person. I spent a little time checking out the interior of the church. The stained-glass windows are so beautiful. Just remember to be respectful to those that are worshipping here if you decide to go inside.

LANDMARK: A historic Church which was founded in 1697 offering Services for over 300 years. The present EPISCOPAL Church was built and completed at WALL STREET in 1846. A popular Tourist destination. WORTH VISITING.

To gain access inside, you have to go through security, where they still have services today. Otherwise, you can wander around the small cemetery and see Alexander Hamilton's grave. 2023 #105

I'll never forget it: I was welcomed by an usher who gave me the kind of hug that said, "You're home now." No side-eyes, no judgment--just love, warmth, and a seat in a beautiful space where I could experience the service at my own pace (and catch my breath from walking through Times Square--because whew). The music? Absolutely incredible. The choir will have you praising, swaying, and maybe even forgetting you're wearing those new shoes that weren't made for dancing. It's joyful, powerful, and real--and you don't need to know the words to feel the Spirit. Services are held at 10 AM and 1 PM, so whether you're an early bird or the kind who needs that second cup of coffee (no judgment--I've been both), there's room for you. And yes--they even have discounted parking if you get your ticket stamped. Because even in New York, Jesus is still helping you save. From programs for children to ministries for adults, the church is full of life, love, and purpose. Everyone is treated with kindness and respect. It's a place where people grow, laugh, cry, heal--and worship together. So if you're looking for a church that feels like family, sounds like heaven, and welcomes you just as you are--come through. You just might leave with a full heart, a new friend, and a joyful song stuck in your head all week.

I've always had a special appreciation for the architecture of Catholic churches, and the craftsmanship here is truly remarkable! The high vaulted ceilings, stained glass, and intricate details make it feel both grand and peaceful at the same time. Even though it sits right in the middle of the city, the moment you step inside there's a sense of calm that almost feels grounding. It can get busy but you can still find quiet moments to sit, reflect, or simply admire the beauty of the space.

Probably not the best day to visit, but since I'd already pre-paid for the self-guided audio tour, I decided to brave the crowds and go. I want to be clear - St. Patrick's is beautiful. But my three star review is really about the tour experience, and my experience may have been worse than it would have been on a less busy weekend. The self-guided audio tour is $20. You can do it on your phone or on an iPad they'll provide you at the cathedral. However, especially on a crowded day, the tour was confusing. There was weirdly no way to cross from the north side of the cathedral to the south side of the cathedral. You had to in the door on the north side to see that side and then back out and in the door on the south side of the cathedral to see that side. There were may roped off areas that were on the audio tour. Probably half of the stops on the audio tour were behind roped off areas - I didn't know if I was supposed to get access to them or not. The staff at the cathedral - who I'm sure were overwhelmed by the crowds (I was!) - weren't helpful. One security guard member of staff saw my confusion and tried to help me. He opened the ropes and let me over to the other side. He told me to ask someone to do that again when I was ready to see the other side of the cathedral. But when I asked, the response was a pretty unfriendly "you have to go outside and come back in." Maybe my experience was worse than usual because of my bad timing. But I can't recommend the audio tour. $20 for an audio tour on your phone - and one where half of the stops aren't accessible to you - is too much. I suggest popping in, looking around, and leaving them whatever is a reasonable donation to you. (Note: The reason I wanted to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral was to see the new mural in the cathedral's narthex. I had read about it in the Times and wanted to see it in person. The mural - painted by Brooklyn-based artist Adam Cvijanovic and titled "What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding" - is 25 feet tall and spans several walls. It features the 1879 Apparition at Knock, saints, and modern immigrant processions. It's beautiful and thought-provoking and definitely worth a visit. Pop in and drop a donation in the box.)
