Such a nice and peaceful on Sunday late afternoon. I was on the way to get snack, when I saw this church, I had to stepped in and sit inside for a while. I love the architecture, arts and color glass around the church. I don't want to interrupt another people, so I just sit not to deep and listen to nice and wonderful music.

I was walking along the side walk as most people usually do and stumbled up this beautifully built church. I also noticed that they were holding organ meditation at 4pm. When I looked at my phone to catch the time it was exactly 3:55pm. Talk about perfect timing! I've always seen this type of thing in movies but I have never personally done anything like this. Being that I had time to make my way inside without being disrupting with noise and movement. On occasion I like to shut everything off and meditate--not think of anything. It helps when living in an every fast paced world it has a way of slowing things down a bit. It was not super crowded and found a seat right away. There was a thin door to open and lock behind you--then make your way to your seat. This church is beautiful! From the antique furnishings to the mural windows. The inside was just as amazing as the outside was--the architecture makes you feel like you're in a far away land, medieval times even. I didn't stay very long and that was the flow that most people had that came in. They accept any donations of any amount that you may feel so inclined to give.

A good portion of the reviews for this church seem to start out the same as mine is going to: i was feeling kinda down, overwhelmed with the city, needing some quiet, meditative space. I wandered by and noticed the garden was open, and the doors to the church itself. I roamed through the garden and then went on inside, and found it was exactly what I needed. Like many New York Jews, I'm an apathetic agnostic. The space wasn't religious to me, it was just a calm, quiet, beautiful historic building. I played on my phone in peace for a bit, then closed my eyes and listened to the organ music. I moved off once it seemed like a service was starting about half an hour later, feeling a bit more sorted. This is just a useful place to have around, good on you for staying relevant god!

Love the architecture of this church specially it is surrounded by modern buildings so it radiate beauty to Broadway. If you're visiting, it is a very nice place to experience. And if you're religious, its a nice place to spend your service.

Having been to Manhattan quite a few times now, I've 'done' the big tourist sites and these days, I get more pleasure in wandering through districts and stumbling across little gems On my way to lunch at Ippudo, I came across Grace Church. Hard to believe it's so close to the bustle of Union Square but the church and its little counrtyard are a calm oasis Currently partly clad in scaffolding, it's still a beautiful gothic monument with its crowning stained glass windows. It's the sort of building which you can just look at for ages, finding new architectural intricacies to interest the eye Due to my lunch appointment, I couldn't stay for a service but they have a good program of services at the church: http://gracechurchnyc.org/

Simply a beautiful little church located a couple blocks from Washington Square park and well worth the walk to see it. When I walked inside, the first thing that came to mind was "It reminds me of a miniature St. Patrick's Cathedral"......and then I learned it was designed by the same architect who designed St. Pat's. Done in the Neo-Gothic style: The tall, lacy steeple reaching toward heaven...... An interior with a soaring, majestic space and surprising well lit due to all the ornate stained glass windows. I learned that the Gothic style emphasizes verticality and light, both of which are evident. . I just wanted to stop in for a quick peek, but we met the caretaker who gave us a quick tour. There is plaque near the front of the Church that had a very interesting story: One of the parishoners of Grace church, Edith Corse Evans, was a passenger on the fated Titanic and she selflessly gave up her seat on a lifeboat to another woman named Caroline Brown because Ms. Brown had children. The plaque was presented to the church in 1912. In an adjacent area of the church, we were also shown a magnificent, small chapel that is attached to the main church and is usually closed off to the public. (see the photo I took). He explained that couples can get married in the majestic and grand main church, or in this intimate and equally lovely chapel. So if you are thinking of getting married in this spectacular, gothic monument........the "rental" fee to walk down the aisle is $15,000. Expensive wedding!

Beautiful church, lots of impressive stained glass windows and impressive architecture. The bells ringing on Easter was quite an experience, then they had a playing of Bach which was nice to sit and listen and reflect.

We walked by this church so many times but we never actually went in. One Sunday afternoon, we decided to walk in. They were having organ meditation at 4 PM. This church is beautiful! It looks beautiful on the outside & the inside. Well, it does look bigger from the outside. The staff here is friendly, likes to joke around so don't be afraid to walk in.

A medieval church where you'd least expect it. It's moments like these that make New York so cool. This is a beautiful Medieval church that makes you feel like you are in Europe for a split second. Visit Grace Church to see one of the Bach concerts.

I visited this beautiful church for their free Bach organ concert at noon, which is actually from 12:20-12:50 Tuesdays through Fridays. I highly recommend it, but please note that there are no public restrooms here. You can use the restroom at the nearby Strand bookstore. Also, please be respectful of the posted rules and regulations, such as no photography or videotaping during the organ concert. You can take photos before and after, but the concert is supposed to be a time for quiet reflection and contemplation. During my visit, a tourist couple from hell took photos and video with their phones (complete with camera clicking sound) throughout the church during the performance, which was extremely distracting. The woman was even taking selfies. Who takes selfies in a church?! Despite this distraction, the organist was highly skilled and I enjoyed the performance.

I'll never forget it: I was welcomed by an usher who gave me the kind of hug that said, "You're home now." No side-eyes, no judgment--just love, warmth, and a seat in a beautiful space where I could experience the service at my own pace (and catch my breath from walking through Times Square--because whew). The music? Absolutely incredible. The choir will have you praising, swaying, and maybe even forgetting you're wearing those new shoes that weren't made for dancing. It's joyful, powerful, and real--and you don't need to know the words to feel the Spirit. Services are held at 10 AM and 1 PM, so whether you're an early bird or the kind who needs that second cup of coffee (no judgment--I've been both), there's room for you. And yes--they even have discounted parking if you get your ticket stamped. Because even in New York, Jesus is still helping you save. From programs for children to ministries for adults, the church is full of life, love, and purpose. Everyone is treated with kindness and respect. It's a place where people grow, laugh, cry, heal--and worship together. So if you're looking for a church that feels like family, sounds like heaven, and welcomes you just as you are--come through. You just might leave with a full heart, a new friend, and a joyful song stuck in your head all week.

I've always had a special appreciation for the architecture of Catholic churches, and the craftsmanship here is truly remarkable! The high vaulted ceilings, stained glass, and intricate details make it feel both grand and peaceful at the same time. It can get busy but you can still find quiet moments to sit, reflect, or simply admire the beauty of the space.

Probably not the best day to visit, but since I'd already pre-paid for the self-guided audio tour, I decided to brave the crowds and go. I want to be clear - St. Patrick's is beautiful. But my three star review is really about the tour experience, and my experience may have been worse than it would have been on a less busy weekend. The self-guided audio tour is $20. You can do it on your phone or on an iPad they'll provide you at the cathedral. However, especially on a crowded day, the tour was confusing. There was weirdly no way to cross from the north side of the cathedral to the south side of the cathedral. You had to in the door on the north side to see that side and then back out and in the door on the south side of the cathedral to see that side. There were may roped off areas that were on the audio tour. Probably half of the stops on the audio tour were behind roped off areas - I didn't know if I was supposed to get access to them or not. The staff at the cathedral - who I'm sure were overwhelmed by the crowds (I was!) - weren't helpful. One security guard member of staff saw my confusion and tried to help me. He opened the ropes and let me over to the other side. He told me to ask someone to do that again when I was ready to see the other side of the cathedral. But when I asked, the response was a pretty unfriendly "you have to go outside and come back in." Maybe my experience was worse than usual because of my bad timing. But I can't recommend the audio tour. $20 for an audio tour on your phone - and one where half of the stops aren't accessible to you - is too much. I suggest popping in, looking around, and leaving them whatever is a reasonable donation to you. (Note: The reason I wanted to visit St. Patrick's Cathedral was to see the new mural in the cathedral's narthex. I had read about it in the Times and wanted to see it in person. The mural - painted by Brooklyn-based artist Adam Cvijanovic and titled "What's So Funny About Peace, Love, and Understanding" - is 25 feet tall and spans several walls. It features the 1879 Apparition at Knock, saints, and modern immigrant processions. It's beautiful and thought-provoking and definitely worth a visit. Pop in and drop a donation in the box.)
