Well! First, I have to admit that this place is beautiful. Second, I have to say that their catering service almost killed a girl this past weekend.
My family attended a wedding there on the 15th. My sister and I both suffer from severe allergies. The bride (our cousin) went over and over the menu with the caterers to make sure that no dairy or peanuts be anywhere the day of. Since the meals were supposed to be meat kosher, this shouldn't have been a problem. But there was.
During the ceremony, my sister went into anaphylactic shock. The caterer--while my sister was dying-- took a moment to lecture me that there was no possible way that the food had dairy in it. Well, in that case, maybe it was peanuts? Oh, wait, I ate the same food as my sister, and suffered no reaction. (We share the peanut allergy but only she is allergic to dairy.)
This means one of two things: either this caterer included dairy in a kosher meat meal (and believe me, they have been reported to the kashrut authorities), OR, there were peanuts at the wedding -- that my sister, but not I, magically ingested -- meaning that the event was not catered to what the bride asked for.
This venue would like nothing more than to keep their kosher licensing, so naturally, on the phone, they said peanut dust might have contaminated cookies that were included at the reception. Neither my sister nor I ate any cookies. Furthermore, we both have experience with touch based reactions, and this wasn't that. Chances are, it was dairy.
It also seems relevant to note that the venue has consistently bad health inspection reviews, which are free for public viewing online.
