Let me start off by saying that I am very picky with my haircuts. I have had my hair cut by a lot of different people at salons and barbershops. I have very thick asian hair and it's difficult to manage/style. Barbers are usually good at fades and using razors, but sometimes their shear skills are poor. The owner here is so good at shaping and gets the job done quickly and consistently! I"ve been going to get my haircut here for more than 10 years now. This barber does the best fades by far. I've tried other barbers closer to where I live and other haircut establishments like Super Cuts and Sports Clips, but I end up making the longer drive out to get my haircut from Seoul Barber. It doesn't seem like anyone can fade like she does. If you need a good fade, this is the place to go. Just like others have said, the barber starts off by washing your hair with shampoo and conditioner. The haircut is next. After the haircut, she vacuums those pesky little pieces of leftover hair. I don't know of any other place that does this. And as Chris T. said, she cleans up the sideburns and the back of the neck with a razor and finishes with a hot towel. Westerners generally don't know how to cut my thick, straight, bristle-like Chinese hair. The owner and only barber is friendly and cuts my hair just the way I like it. I've been going to her since 2000. She's Korean, and speaks English well. I only get one for two different style cuts, but I assume she can do most any cut for men. I particularly like the way she fades my back and sides. Currently it's $18 for a cut, not cheap among Chinese standards, but standard I think among other Korean barbers. The basic haircut includes a shampoo to start, and ends with my favorite part. She uses a straight razor to clean up the back of the neck and the sideburns, then takes a hot steamed towel to wipe of the shaving cream and gives me a brief neck massage. I would advise you to call ahead to make an appointment, and get there a bit early. She'll sometimes take a walk-in ahead of an appointment if he walks in 15 minutes before your appointment, making you wait a few minutes to finish up her customer. read more

I was told to leave after the owner checked my temperature soon as i got in. Temperature was 98.9 and told me that it was a little high. She told me to have a seat and not even 2 minutes later she took my temp again and came out to 99.4. A fever is 100.4 but she kept telling me it was still high so i just left. read more

I first tried this place when my girlfriend at the time told me her best experiences were with Korean stylists. We just ate at the Korean restaurant next door, so why not? Wow were my expectations blown away. When I first walked in, there was no line, no clean floors, and definitely not necessarily the most aesthetic salon. Seoul Barber was one of the first places I tried in Dallas for a haircut. After visiting a few more locations, it's the one I've decided on staying at. To preface, though, the woman who works here is most skilled at Asian hair, but I don't have any evidence she's bad otherwise. She prides herself on her ability to make a nice fade on the sides, but it's certainly well placed. I'm always surprised she's not busier. In terms of value, you get to start off with a hair wash (already a plus and free of charge), and the entire experience only costs you $18 (soon to go up to $22, but still totally worth it). I was torn between a 4 and a 5 for Seoul Barber, but really the only complaint I had about this place was its location. For the quality of service, skill of cut and incredible pricing, Seoul Barber deserves the 5 in my book. Update: It's now $22 read more

I visited this barbershop in July, and am writing my review off of my experience from that visit. I live about 15 minutes from this barbershop, and found this place on Yelp (which it had good reviews on) when I was looking for a walk-in haircut. Some reviews said that this place takes walk-ins, and, when I got there, I also saw that they had a 'walk-ins welcome' sign on the door. So I decided to give this place a try. When I walked in, there was a lady (who I'm assuming is the owner), who was cutting somebody's hair, and a guy (who I'm assuming is an apprentice). I asked her if she'd be able to cut my hair, and she said yes. She wasn't particularly friendly, and she seemed a little hesitant to say yes, but I figured that's just her personality. An assistant came to shampoo my hair, and I think she spent a good 5 minutes or so shampooing and messaging my scalp. It felt nice, but the extent seemed a little unnecessary. When the hairdresser lady got done with the other customer, she motioned me to the chair and started cutting my hair. About 5-10 minutes in, another customer walked in, and I think that put the hairdresser under pressure. I felt like she was rushing, and she cut my hair for another 5 minutes or so and was done. I didn't feel comfortable telling her what areas I wanted shorter, etc. because she seemed rushed. The haircut was alright. When I went to pay at the counter, I was pretty surprised at the price. I know the shampoo was factored in to the price, but I ended up paying 27 bucks including tip and tax for my haircut. I've been to many hair places around Royal Lane and in Carrollton, and this price seems a bit steep considering the atmosphere, location, duration of the haircut, and the haircut itself. Maybe the hairdresser specializes in fades and other styles that may warrant this price for a specific customer, but it wasn't justifiable for me. read more

Currently just the owner cuts hair along with a helper, but she is very highly skilled and takes the time and care to make sure my haircut looks good on me. Not only are the haircuts great and spot on, she ends the haircut with a shave on the back of my neck and a hot towel massage. She does this everytime I go and the prices are the same any other Korean barbershop. Her shop may look small and not as modern as other barbershops like Fox hair or Lee ka ja over in Carrollton, but she is just as good if not better than the other high end hair salons. I've known this lady for 17 years and haven't stopped going since. She does excellent fades or any other type of hairstyles you like. She washes your hair before(if needed.) after your haircut she will use a straight razor for finishing touches then give you a warm towel massage!! This place is great!! Hands down she is the BEST Barber I've been to. I've had barbers from San Francisco, Sacramento, Las Vegas, etc. She only works on men's hair and she will take her time with every individual. Starts off with shampoo, conditioner, and drying. She then asks for your style but will recommend base on hair type and shape. Not your typical barber where they ask for what number to shave you down to. Her cuts are taylored for each individual. After the perfect cut, you'll get the old-fashion rasor and cream to trim edges. Attached to her rasor is a vacuum so you'll have little to no hair falling off your head when you leave. Decided to come here after reading good reviews. I asked for a low fade, showed a picture and explained how I liked my hair. An appointment customer comes in late and I get rushed out of the chair, I could tell she was rushing through my hair and without asking sends me out with unfininshed haircut. Five minutes later I come back after realizing my hair on the sides looks crooked. There was one customer waiting and one being finished. The customer waiting tells me it's ok if I go first since its just to fix my sides, but the owner says no and tells me to wait 40 min so she can wash and color his hair. Don't know if it was just a bad timing, but I'm definitelly not coming back here. I could tell all three customers were regulars. There is one thing about treating your regulars well, but to completely disregard and ignore new walk-in customers is a no go. read more

If you are Asian and you're looking for a barber, look no further. While I do not personally get my hair cut here, this is the only place my two boys and hubby go. This is not the place to go if you want to look "metro" or get highlights or even if you prefer a salon environment. But it gets 5 stars for a good old fashioned clean cut.
