My lower back is always an issue when I acts up from time to time and now adding onto that is Sciatic nerve pain. They worked me over in two sessions and I gotta say it felt amazing. I've been to Restorative Massage a few times now. I gotta take a moment and give a HUGE shout out to Ava. We relocated to Hilo from SoCal and need to find a great massage therapist ASAP. Ava's attention to detail is quite literally The Best I've ever experienced. She's methodical and intentional with every move. And this lates massage was so energetic & purposeful it almost had me in tears (I'll admit it was my manly ego that stopped me). My partner and I were visiting from Oahu. He scheduled us both a massage, and we're fortunate they were able to get us an appointment for the next day. There are so many five star aspects of this business: the receptionist, calming environment, and Rachel! Rachel asked me how I preferred to spend my 90 minute massage, and level of pressure. I said more time on my back and neck, but if there's time to do other parts of my body. She let me know she would do a warm up and then spend more time on my back/neck then work on my calves/feet. Her massage was amazing. Great pressure and she definitely was getting into my knots. It was a bit sore, but I knew that's what my body needed to feel better in the future. After meeting up with my partner, he didn't sound like he had the same experience. He said he spoke up about his preferred pressure but it lessened throughout the massage. I'm thinking my partner should've been paired with Rachel and I should've been with the therapist my partner had. Overall, it was really easy to schedule an appointment and I had a great experience. A pleasant serene oasis in Hilo. The new location recently opened and it's a beautiful space. Currently they only offer massages but soon to add estheticians and hot tub, cold plunge and more - cant wait! They offer a monthly plan (which I purchased) that can be used for all services offered. I've only been twice but had the same massage therapist both times (Rachel) and she is wonderful. She caters her massage to what issues you may be having with your body. I've paid over $1,200 in the past to Restorative Massage Clinic for different services and no issues... until April 12th, 2025: I log onto my online account and put into my shopping cart facial services totalling $350.08 BUT, it won't let me schedule. I call and visit several times for 3 months and given the run-around each time... Our facial employee departed but we hope to hire this girl Lila soon- check back in 2 weeks... Lila is starting work soon, but not sure when- - check back in 2 weeks... Lila said she needs tools and equipment to do her job- check back in 2 weeks... Lila is setup but not comfortable booking yet- she's testing out the tools and equipment- check back in 2 weeks... So, I visit one last time in person and share that it's June now, and I paid $350.08 in April... Oh, we don't use that website anymore, but it's still up and running and we are taking peoples money... and just FYI- Lila is working on her own not through us- she is here right now this very minute with a client and just finished 2 clients and now booking appointments- here's a sticky note with her email and number and website- you can contact and book directly with her... we will give her the money you paid for services you book through her- based on her pricing. I go to website and no buttons work to book appointment, I email and wait 3 days- No Reply, I call and leave Voicemail- No Reply... So, today June 6 I called my bank and disputed the $350.08 Credit Card charge. Note: Every single communication was initiated by ME the customer and every time I was told WE will call you back with status update- However, all broken empty promises (lies)- Not one communication to me by anyone from April to June. What's wrong with these people ?... This is NOT how you run a business. The Restorative Massage website is STILL up and running with options to book Facial services- and I told them it needs to be taken down. They refuse to even acknowledge a longstanding paying customer wanting to book PRE-Paid Facial Services- Why ?... There's something majorly wrong here- Why do the front desk reception staff and Lila REFUSE to communicate with clients ?... they just ignore them- on purpose. I've been nothing but cordial and nice thru the whole process- I know folks that would have gone off on them on day one. I've been more than patient and wasted 2 months waiting on a response just to book. I'm most definitely and very gladly taking my business elsewhere now. How does Lila think the business is ever going to make it treating customers this way ? I just felt the great need to share this very bad negative experience- especially so that others do NOT make same mistake and get their money taken and held randsome for 2 months and given the run around with never ending excuses and ignoring you in the end- and you have no choice but to dispute the charges paid for no services rendered- Not Pono. I will be telling anyone and everyone I can: Do NOT go to Restorative Massage... and especially don't even consider interacting with their receptionist staff or waste your time trying to communicate with Lila. There's plenty of other places offering the same services (with actual customer service) in Hilo town. Everything from the staff to the massager was very professional, have been coming to restorative massage ever since 2021 when I was having trouble with my sciatica in my left leg. Chris has been doing everything possible to help me with this issue. Eventually I had to have back surgery which left me with drop foot on my left leg and he continues to do all that he can. I absolutely LOVE Reatorative Massage! I signed up for their monthly massage plan so the payment is automatically debited each month. Sometimes i forget to schedule (you know how life can be) and they always keep in touch with me. They will send me a super sweet text message reminding me that I have credits for a massage! One of my absolute favorite things about this business is that you can schedule appointments so easily and FAST just over texting. They are always super friendly too. The atmosphere inside is soooooo relaxing. calming music playing. comfortable chairs to rest and relax in before and after. And they always offer you their special complimentary filtered water before and after your massage. They also have tons of employees/masseuses. You can tell them what kind of massage you like (deep, medium, gentle, etc) and they can help recommended specific workers to match your preferences. I personally CANNOT hang with the deep massage technique. I feel like I can't breathe through it and that's not what I personally look for in a massage. I told them I like medium pressure. Not too deep but not super light. Guess I have Goldie Locks syndrome. Haha. Anyway- they recommended I try Rachel and HOLY WOW!!! I LOVE LOVE LOVE RACHEL! She is so intuitive and pressure is absolutely PERFECT! I swear she has magic hands. Knows exactly where my tension is and seems to read my mind about where to go next. I always feel energized and super happy after a massage with her. Aside from that- she is also super kind and lovely. But everyone there is super nice, like I said. That being said- please forget I said anything about Rachel being my absolute favorite because I don't want all her openings to get booked and then I'll never be able to see her again!! The first impression is important. thanks to michelle the process of buying a gifted receipt for a couples massage (late christmas gift to my parents), her service wasn't just professional but also welcoming! i said what the heck why not. i booked a session with Banka and this is why i'm making my first yelp review! walking into the clinic you'll instantly feel the wave of peace, like a new world, smell of essential oil aroma in the air. i've been to a handful of massage therapists. good work. Banka on the other hand had me leaving the facility like my body brand new, thinking "this is amazing" the first 10min of the session. my session she introduced herself and sat me down to quickly talk about what we will be focusing on, during the first 20min we played with pressure to find what was most comfortable (i enjoy harder pressure - deep) the last 20min of the session i felt my body fully anew, it was amazing. I absolutely love the new location of Restorative Massage on Kinoole close to downtown. It's a beautiful space, way less street noise and there is a really cool display of all sorts of yoga-type wares. I bought some Giam bootie socks for myself and a friend and they are amazing--perfect place to find a gift for you or a friend. The receptionists, Michelle and Chantelle are super sweet, very helpful and knowledgeable. Chantelle is usually there to greet me. She has such a good aura about her--so kind, helpful, always has a smile on her face and never forgets to offer to fill my water bottle. I have gotten massages from several therapists there and they are all exceptional but Rebekah is my go-to right now. Restorative Massage is managed extremely well and they are very professional. I get email and text reminders and if anything affects my appt, I get a call to let me know and it gets resolved. The communication is 10/10. I also am signed up on the regular plan which gives me a huge discount on massages. I usually do 90 minutes because I know at the end of 60 I could really use another 30! I have and will continue to recommend Restorative Massage. You won't be disappointed. read more

She targeted every muscle with full body strength- it was a mix of painful, rejuvenating pleasure! Filled out some paperwork before the session since it was my first time there which took about five minutes. The "rooms" are not walled but are sheets dividers between the spaces. I was expecting this layout to be noisy since there are no sound barriers but it was quiet for the whole massage. Leslie used a good combination of pressure and also checked in from time to time to make sure the pressure was right for me. I appreciated the fact that she would check in on the pressure level as some masseuses just do their thing without any feedback. Longer review: At the beginning of Oct. 2019, my boyfriend and I were in the area & really looking forward to getting a massage. After some quick research, we read up on this place. We called for an appointment for the same day and they were able to offer us spot for a couples massage within two hours. There's plenty to do in Hilo and the location was easy enough to find (street parking might prove to be a little challenge, but not the end of the world). We were greeted by an open space, a mix of scents, and friendly staff. We filled out an intake form, ID'ing any areas that needed special attention or to be avoided. I ended up getting paired with a student and my boyfriend was paired with a licensed masseuse. After our massage, we were comparing experiences. Both of us had an amaaaaazing experience. Even though My masseuse was technically a student, she was so excellent and professional! Definitely applied great deep pressure (I always select deep tissue massages - gimme pain so I can relax, you know?). We kept up pleasant conversation throughout the massage as well. There were enough breaks so I could relax, but also she was checking in to ensure correct pressure or giving me feedback about the amount of tension in my body.
