The store itself is incredibly small though; if there are more than two customers in there it can become extremely cramped. I learnt this the hard way when a man came in during his lunch break, was extremely gassy, and had to vacate the premises to relieve himself lest we all--the two staff members behind the counter and the other customer and I--be gassed to death. If you're looking to get a more obscure currency exchanged, make sure you go at least a week beforehand because chances are you may need to order it in. I ordered some Japanese yen and had to wait about a week. There's also an ATM located outside the store that takes most cards, including international cash cards.

I found these guys really helpful at getting me set up with my 'cash passport' -- a special card and account which allows you to withdraw cash around the world. Since then I've also used these guys to get currency for an overseas trip to New Zealand. The good thing about this company is that they let you order your currency online through BPAY for pick-up at the airport, and you don't have to pay the commission fee.

But at some point you have to man up and do the adult thing. Sort your receipts, know what you can and can't deduct, look at your HECS. I can already see your eyes rolling into the back of your head with sheer boredom. Still with me? I'd been an accountant hussy until I found Nick Gregory. He's turned me into a one-accountant woman and I couldn't be happier. Last year's tax was horrendous but Nick kept my expectations in check and in fact, exceeded them when he reduced what I thought I had to pay by quite a few zeros. I also like that as someone who doesn't take numbers as my first preference (hello straight A English Student here!) he never makes me feel less than for not understanding. In fact, he never had to - all his explanations were conveyed on a level I understood. And for me, the fact that I can email Nick all of my return without having to make an appointment or allocate hours to sit in their offices going through it all means tax time is far less arduous. (There is no govt incentive, probably they focus on negative gearing) Firstly I got lied to, as the 'consultant' gave no information, left no brochure or even given a case study on how tax dollars can be used to grow wealth. All he was interested in was getting us to Brisbane. Secondly, he gave no business card or company information. All he wanted was MY information (earnings, superannuation, equity etc), all of which I made up of course. I would not do business with a company like this.
