Direct Performance was able to see me quickly thankfully. Dr. Rud was able to get me back on track in just a matter of a week with exercises and dry needling. I was able complete the half marathon with minimal residual pain. He provided further care afterwards and now my hip feels as good as new. Everyone is very professional and nice, and the care is affordable. The facilities have everything needed. You are in great hands with Direct Performance!

Could I be more thankful for Direct Performance?…read more I started running 5 years ago and have visited Direct Performance for small group training, physical therapy, and massage therapy. My most recent visit was for massage therapy, right before the stay at home order was issued. Even before things were mandated, DP started enforcing new policies to best protect their staff and visitors. My massage was with Rachel K. This is not the person who is going to massage you to sleep and put you in a relaxed state of mind. This is the person who is going to give your exhausted and worked muscles the attention they need. It's a true sports massage and a real treat for your body. My experience with physical therapy here was great! Brian helped me through an issue with my calf using a combination of dry needling and physical therapy. They are now offering telehealth appointments which is great in our current situation. Thanks for everything Direct Performance!

Review of expert diagnosis and treatment of knee injury by Dr. Edward Lambert at OrthoVirginia on…read moreFirst Colonial in Va Beach. Dr. Lambert took great care in examining my injured knee, withdrawing fluid (62cc), ordering an MRI, analyzing those results, providing expert diagnosis and providing a treatment plan. Couldn't be happier with the medical care and service. My knee is healing well and I am back to running - short segments - and I believe I will return to full abilities (for a guy 71! haha) in the next month or so. For a little background, a previous doctor at a different practice ordered an X-ray, did a brief examination, told me it was useless to drain the fluid, gave me a cortisone shot and told me I'd be lucky if that helped for 6 months and that he'd see me in 6 months to talk knee replacement. My running friends said, "Go see Dr. Lambert." As noted above, Dr. Lambert went the extra mile and the MRI results showed there was nothing torn - not MCL, not ACL, not meniscus - thus no surgery was required, but that I did come dangerously close to doing so and should slowly rehab my knee according to his tried-and-true Walk To Run Program and I should regain full use, range of motion and ability within a month or two. That's huge difference! Huge! If you're a runner, you know.

After seeing an Orthopedic Surgeon it was suggested that I try physical therapy first before any surgery. So I looked up several ones that were suggested to me. After reaching out to a few, I was able to get set up with IN Motion. I couldn't be happier with the results I had there. Everyone was extremely nice and thoughtful in their care for me. I got the best therapist in Patrick. He cared about how I felt mentally as well as physically. I was in therapy for two months. I can say that with the guidance and direction they gave me, I can now move forward to an active life once again. It was a knee injury. A torn ACL. So it was something I really had to work on. So luckily the therapy I received has given me options outside of surgery. With their upmost care and consideration, there is life after injury. I would recommend IN Motion to anyone trying to come back from injury. They were the VERY BEST for me!!!! Cheryl Talbot, Realtor

Not knowing my case was severe…read moresince I have suffered for over a year with PF, In-Motion worked as hard as possible with me to rid me of my pain. I worked in and out with their exercises at home along with wearing my night boot (on both feet) as well as doing my daily stretches. Unfortunately nothing really worked. Why the 5 stars? The people who work there are incredible. Patrick, Megan, Cindy and Beth are awesome and wonderful people who truly have a passion for their jobs. I will also say they give some killer deep tissue massages when I needed it the most. They always found ways to make sure my pain was relieved even if it was temporary. I would say if you need help then don't wait as long as I did to go to PT and I'm prettier sure I would've had better results. If I had to go back; I would still go see them.

I'd like to start by saying that while I haven't visited the physical building, I was referred here…read moreby my doctor to work with a dietitian to help me lose weight and improve my health. This isn't something I ever would have considered earlier in my life--not for any particular reason, I just wouldn't have done it. However, for the past four months, I have been working with Dennis Bueso, MA, RD (Clinical/Sports Dietitian), and the experience has been nothing like I expected. Being very overweight, I anticipated someone taking charge of the conversation and lecturing me on what I 'better' start doing. I think TV gave me a twisted idea of how these things go. Thankfully, it hasn't been like that at all. Our conversations are excellent and open. Mr. Bueso is incredibly 'chill' and immediately sets you at ease; it feels like a normal, back-and-forth conversation between two people. He is great at following up and is just a genuinely easy person to talk to. Since starting, I've seen amazing results. For those who know what A1C is, mine had been double what it should be for over five years. In just four months, I've brought it down to exactly where it's supposed to be. I give myself credit for controlling my diet, but Dennis has been instrumental in helping me understand what to watch and work on. In addition to the blood work, I've lost over 30 pounds in that same timeframe. I definitely want to give props and thanks to Mr. Bueso. If your doctor has recommended a dietitian, just do it. I worried about how it would go, but those worries were unnecessary. It has been a great experience. We only get one shot at life; I may have started this battle late, but I'm determined to battle to the end. Thank you if you read all my ramblings. :) Thank you again Dennis. Tim

The room is wide open so it will be several other patients getting worked on at the same time. They do have some private rooms. You're given several exercises to build your strength back up in whatever area you have issues with, and they also incorporate some massage, and heating pads into your treatment. It's about an hour visit, and you're in and out. Wear something comfy. I have used them in the past as well and think its a nice office to use for your therapeutic needs. Check them out!!

I attended therapy for three months, and every day I was welcomed and well cared for. Libby and the team always checked in on me during my exercises, making sure my form was correct so I wouldn't risk further injury. The easiest way to get in is from General Booth Blvd. southbound where Jose Tequillas is located, as there is no direct access from the road there. So, what brought me here in the first place. Achilles Tendonitis in the left foot. In April 2018, I was walking to get my lunch at work and I felt something pop with my left foot which didn't feel good. The ground is flat too. So, after seeing the specialist and finding out it was Achilles tendonitis, I was referred here for physical therapy to get this issue resolved. The good thing is that I started this process pretty quickly after it occurred, so it minimized the effects and length of time needed for physical therapy. When I called the office, I was surprised at how quickly they were able to get me in. I was there for my first visit and consultation just two days after seeing the specialist. My therapist for the duration of this issue was Crystal Barnes, who is also the clinic director. The first visit starts with a consultation to go over the issue at hand, take measurements, and the such. After that first visit, it would then be just working through the physical therapy process to get things back to normal. The physical therapy part of this adventure wasn't as easy as I thought at the beginning, but they do start you off slowly with the exercises and then eventually work you up higher as things improve, including adding additional activities. This part is normally done with their physical therapy assistants. Crustal also did some deep massage and dry needling as well. For both of those, you will really feel it and may hurt, especially on the first round, but it gets much easier after that. Over a few sessions, you will definitely tell the difference. I was going there two times a week for a little over two months. After a few months, the issue was finally resolved and no longer needed to continue the physical therapy. Fast forward a few months. I have no recurring issues with my foot at this point for the Achilles tendonitis. I am also still doing some of the exercises as done in physical therapy to this day to keep certain this issue doesn't come back later. The entire staff here is great to work with. The ones at the front desk always greet you with a smile and nice to have small conversation with when it isn't too busy at the time. Crystal has been great with my foot and the issue. If for some reason I do need physical therapy in the future, this will definitely be the place I come back to. If you need physical therapy, you need to check them out as well.
