I asked if she was available for the following appointment and was told she didn't work there any longer. The options I had for therapy during the times I needed were now once a week at best. Casey knew immediately what I had since she treats people with my condition in her office. She listened to me, was compassionate and empathic but aside from that she was a person of action. She went out of her way to advocate for me (for days after my appointment). She spoke with my General Practitioner on my behalf and also with several treatment facilities that were closer to my home. Within less than 1 week from my appointment with Casey, I had a formal diagnosis from my GP and now have an appointment to begin treatment for my condition. Casey is a true gem! From the first day when I arrived, when the Director greeted me & welcomed me at the door, I have felt comfortable. The staff seems to care a lot which is evident by the quality of care I've been getting. Also, the number of "agency" workers is very low. This translates to a more caring caregiver! The physical therapy & occupational therapies are excellent. The department is fully staffed I addition, the doctor on staff is a geriatrician --a doctor who specializes in care of the elderly. He knows the intricacies of the aging body as well as how medications affect different people. On staff, also, is a dietician who interviews each new resident about what the resident likes & dislikes. Menus are available ahead of time for breakfast, lunch & dinner. Plus there's a list of available selections shouted the resident not like what's on the regular menu. Transportation is available to take residents to misc. doctor appointments. There's a monthly calendar of all scheduled activities. If a person wants an additional activity, staff will accommodate the resident & try to form a group! There is also onsite dialysis treatment.

I waited 90 minutes after my time slot only to see someone who asked for my entire medical history before their PA would see me some time later. They could not tell me how when that would be. Just sometime before they close. This Med Express facility is now operated by Bon Secours, and apparently they do not have patient records from Med Express, Sentara or UVA. By contrast, Sentara's Urgent Care on High St was able to see me immediately, had access to all of my medical records and the care was excellent.
