In a world of restaurants closed on Mondays, Senor Pancho's offers dinner! The parking lot was a good size, and Monday wasn't terribly busy but still had a fair amount of other patrons. The waiter was very considerate and didn't hover over the table, even though it took us some time to get our orders together. The mini Changas were perfectly crunchy with well season meat. The dipping sauce accompanied them well, and in hindsight I wish I had kept it for my meal. The Tootsie Roll not only had a fun name, but more well seasoned meat and a good meat/lettuce ratio. Maybe could have used a little more cheese, and it does come with peppers (a surprise to me, who doesn't eat Mexican too often) but they were easy to remove. read more

Overall it has gotten much better over the last few years. Even the salsa tastes better. The service is always friendly, food quality has gotten better and the menu has some nice offerings. Sunday night, order my usual Quessida , when it comes I asked where the guacomole is, the bartender looks at owner as she tells me it doesn't come with guacomole, I say yes it does. I eat, get my bill and there is a charge of $2.00 for guacomole, I tell her I never got it and she looks at me like I am lying. Came here for lunch and ordered the taco salad, which was absolutely delicious! Service was quick too. My only complaint is that I checked in on Yelp and was offered a coupon for 50% off an appetizer, and when I presented it to the waiter he refused it and said they didn't accept it. OK Mexican restaurant in a small town. The drinks are okay for me. I like real quality tex-mex or full on Mexican and I find their margs to be either too strong or too syrup-y if they're flavored. Service is always very friendly but they are overpriced in my opinion for what they offer. I like their salsa, it's always fresh! And their chimmychongas are excellent. Sometimes they do weird things though like put peas in their burritos lmao. Why they do that I have no idea. Ordered door dash three times since the covid restaurant shutdown and every time it has been exceptional! I've had the tequila lime barbecue wings, the sauce is awesome! Came here on a random Thursday or Friday to have a quick catch up dinner with a friend. We each ordered a drink (only I got carded because I look like I'm 12 even though I'm older than she is) and they, kind of sucked. We each had gotten something simple; she ordered a house margarita and I ordered one of their spicy jalapeño drinks. My drink was WAY too sweet to even notice the jalapeños (which also made it impossible to drink) and hers was just subpar. The food was also just, blah. Some kind of food you can get at any sort of chain Mexican restaurant. The 3 stars are for the layout, and the ambience. The restaurant is spacious, you're not cramped, there's two dining rooms and outside seating. It looks amazing and allows you to have a great conversation without worrying if you're carrying over to the next table. Prolly won't be back. read more

As a lifelong and devout follower of everything Senior Panco's, it's almost always been not about "if" I'm going to eat there, but "which one" am I going to eat at! We started at the one in Brookfield probably 20 or 30 years ago and between then and now have probably had no less than 5 or 6 other "regular" Pancho's spots. Up until last week, our current spot was the Prospect location which we love, but it's also 20 minutes away and involves driving across i84 in Waterbury which we try to avoid like the plague. We actually DID give this location a try when it first opened a few years ago, but it was still new and the place was packed butts to nuts and honestly, we didn't enjoy ourselves. The food was as good as always, but the atmosphere and service were a bit north of dicey. Again, a brand new location which I get, but it was enough to keep us away for a long while. After driving by the place a bunch of times and noticing that things seemed to have "calmed down" a bit, we decided to pull the trigger over the weekend and give it a shot again. More of a "soft" trigger pull as it was definitely a take out night. Called in the order right around 5 pm on a Saturday and was told about 20 minutes, GREAT START! The location is about 10 minutes away so we headed out in 10 hoping to time it perfectly. Walked in the front door and were greeted right away and told our food just came out. WINNING! Now again, we were taking out so hard to comment on the dine-in experience at this point. But I will say that the place seemed MUCH quieter and much cozier than our initial visit. And the outdoor patio looked pretty awesome. It wasn't packed, but there was a fair amount of tables and everyone looked happy. Next time, we'll sit down. As for the food? As good as always if not better. We mixed it up with a few different entrees included the Grande Combo (my lifelong jam), Street Tacos and a Tootsie Burrito. Everything tasted amazing and fresh and about as good as we could have hoped for. Price was reasonable as well, pretty much a slam dunk overall. Also, the owner Guadalupe is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I see that the Ceviche' restaurant in Middlebury has converted to a Pancho's recently, so we may try that too. But at this point, Thomaston is our go-to for that Mexican food craving that we seem to get about 4 times a week. read more

First I want to say I've eaten here many times and the food and staff are always the best. However a dish I've ordered many times in the past was a failure. I ordered the Tex Mex burrito, my first bite was a hard piece of steak that hurt when I took a bite.I told the waitress and she apologized and was sympathetic. I took 3 more small bites eating less than 1/3 of it to find 2 more. I called the waitress over and sent it back without making a scene and said I wasn't paying for it.she acknowledged it and agreed. My fiancé asked for extra tortillas for the fajitas she ordered for me to share because my meal was bad and we didn't want to wait for another meal. The waitress immediately brought them over. Now to my issue, if I was the typical person and raised a fit over the burrito and asked I would have gotten the appetizer or something given as an apology. But because I was the nice guy I got charged for the extra tortillas. "Great customer service" Thank you to our waitress but the rest was awful and even though it was only $.75 it was the point they don't care about customer service. Going back may be a long time. The Mexican food is just decent and slightly over-priced. The meals are normally luke warm and I have experienced order confusion. This particular review is about a situation that my friend and I had encountered. We were seated in a large booth towards the back of the restaurant around 4:45 p.m. on a Saturday. We finished our meals, settled the bill (though we almost received someone else's) were talking, sipping water and literally were about to leave within 5-10 minutes. Suddenly the owner appeared and rather abruptly asked us to go since "things were getting busy and they needed our booth." I completely understand that it was a Saturday, but did not care for the way in which the situation had been handled. Basically, it was eat, pay your tab and depart "pronto", since you are no longer paying customers. Very awkward, indeed and we no longer feel welcome at this particular Senor Panchos. We were looking for someplace a little different to take mom out for dinner. She hadn't had Mexican food since her honeymoon in New Mexico in 1980. So we figured, why not? As soon as we went in, I was put off by the cheesy decor full of flags and cactuses and stereotypically "Mexican" music. The only thing it lacked was cries of "Arriba! Arriba!" I had read complaints about poor service from customers who had used a Groupon. I figured it was worth a shot since we were going to pay full price on the meal, except for our app. Yelp had a 50% off app deal, so we used that for the guacamole. We had expected the fresh guac that they make in front of you for $8, because there is no other guac appetize. Imagine our surprise when they brought out a container of guac and charged $5.50 pre-discount. It seemed like they just gave us a side of guac because we used the coupon. This was confirmed when we later saw them making fresh tableside guacamole for another customer. LAME. Of our three meals, only one was decent. The burger was a soggy, greasy mess served on cheap white bread rolls. As far as the taco salad, "salad" typically implies green vegetables other than guacamole. It was the least salad-like salad I've ever seen, basically an open-faced burrito in that Mexican taco shell. Finally, the Santa Fe burrito was an impressive 15" burrito that could've been named "Sloppy Jose", but it was so freakin' good. Finally, my wife asked if they made "Skinny Margaritas, you know... low sugar." The waitress said that they did. Her first margarita tasted "like a regular one", so she ordered another and said it tasted sugary. I tried it. Nothing skinny about it. Disgusting, actually...which is why I stick with bottled Dos Equis. To keep it simple, she requested a shot of tequila in club soda instead of chancing another attempt at a "skinny" margarita. Perfect! At the end, it took over 20 minutes for our waitress to drop the check. Service was generally good, but our particular server was pretty unfriendly from the moment we ordered. We won't likely be back...hopefully mom won't have to wait another 36 years for Mexican food! read more

The skinny - Food is OK Tex-Mex - if you are hungry, you can't go wrong. The burgers are a above average. Noise level and TV distractions abound. There are more TVs there than a production studio. I don't need to watch 3 flavours of sports (then again, it is better than watching The FOX Propaganda Network brought to you by a fellow Aussie ). You need to seat yourselves away from the speakers if you want to have a conversation with your fellow diners. Keep the TV in the friggin' bar, get rid of the Karaoke & band on Saturday. Good selection of brews on tap. Full bar. Menu prices are reasonable. The location was a "black hole" for failed restaurants, some good, some not so. Hopefully this joint will do better. The Senor Panchos in Monroe was/is pretty good, so we're hoping that Thomaston will get a decent place. read more

Food here is delicious but this is the second time I ordered soft tacos and explicitly requested NO CILANTRO. I asked at least 3 times with each order. I even heard the man who took my order tell the chef not to put any cilantro on anything, yet both times, when I got home I found a ton of cilantro all throughout the entire taco fillings. SO MUCH CILANTRO it seemed as if they deliberately added extra. There was so much of it that it took me 40 minutes to pick it all out, and by then the tacos were thoroughly cold and unappetizing. I don't know why they can't handle a simple request but they can't. I want my money back. read more
