They immediately served salsa and chips and they were also good! We were hoping that the food would also be just as good, yet unfortunately it was not to be. My husband ordered shrimp enchiladas- they were passable in taste but prepared very simple- just not what we are used to. The beans on his plate lacked flavor and were thin in consistency. My plate was a combo of taco, enchilada and chile rellano. The taco came on a separate plate and was in a store bought shell without flavor . The enchilada was lightly rolled corn tortilla around ground beef. The rellano was breaded and was served next to it. The entire plate slathered with red sauce . The rellano breading was of good texture and the chile was good but the sauce overwhelmed it. The enchilada; I could not. A very basic corn tortilla lightly rolled around ground beef. The ground beef had the consistency of - I don't want to say. I tried it yet could only stomach a bite or two. The meat had a strange flavor - perhaps out of a can? Anyway we both agreed- we would try other restaurants if we were ever in Orange city again.

The Train Station looks pretty basic from the outside, so I wasn't expecting much. I stopped here…read moremostly because it was about the halfway point on a long drive. Turns out, I'm really glad I did. Inside, it's surprisingly nice, with a comfortable, welcoming atmosphere. I happened to be there on Monday, when they have a half-price wing special for dine-in, so that was an easy choice. The wings were very good, but the real surprise was the steak fries. They have a simple seasoning that somehow makes them completely addictive. I was already full, ate every one of them, and still wanted more. Another small thing I appreciated: the iced tea is actually brewed tea, not the syrupy stuff that comes out of a soda machine. That tells you something about the place. The north wall opens up toward a wetland area, and they have fans going, making that space surprisingly comfortable even on a warm summer day. It's a really nice setup. The staff were super friendly, the prices seemed very reasonable, and everything just felt easy and unpretentious. What started as a convenient halfway stop turned into a place I'd actually seek out. I think I'll be planning future road trips with The Train Station in mind. Highly recommended.

The front of the building is a little tienda that sells imported goods from Mexico. The restaurant is in the back portion of the building. It didn't look impressive, and I wasn't sure what it might be like based on the appearance. Service was quick. The menu was hand-written, which though quaint was also refreshing. I never see hand-written menus anymore. I ordered the chicken quesadilla meal. First an appetizer of tortilla chips was brought out along with some salsa. Though I am ordinarily not much of a fan of salsa, I found their salsa very pleasant and the chips were great. The chips were thick and substantial. I'm not sure if they are made here or bought from a supplier, but they were delicious. The main course, the chicken quesadilla, was served with rice and beans. I often find the rice and beans at Mexican restaurants to be too salty, but these were perfect. The best part of the meal was the quesadilla itself. I don't know what the chicken was marinated in, but it had a faint sweetness to it that really tasted very good. Not being from around here, I don't know if I will visit this city again. If I do, I will return to La Rosita.
