I learned there is a big difference between an "agency" and a "registry". I was determined to select an agency, since the staff are employees of company, and receive benefits and compensation through them. With companies that are registries, the workers are not employees. They are contracted through the registry. On my list to contact was "Care on Call Home Healthcare." It was the best call I made. Hector Morales explained how background checks are completed on his staff, in all 50 states. That is unusually thorough, and I was impressed. They carry workman's compensation insurance for their staff, as well. Mr. Morales began his company in 2008, because he recognized there was a lack of quality agencies in our South Florida community. His own parents were aging, and required care at home. He was in the same situation many of us find ourselves in. WHEN i called the company i explained dad has inappropriate sexual behavior so they were aware of that. My father cant stand and if he grabs at them it is very easy to move back or ask him to stop. AS NURSES they should be aware that people with alzheimers have this behavior and be skilled nurses and know how to defuse the situation. One nurse slapped my fathers hand when he went to grab at her. I didnt like that and the nurses not staying the full time i am billed for isnt right either. I cant say I am a satisfied customer anymore. They should train their nurses to deal with this behavior not cry back to the office staff about it. ESPECIALLY after I told them he has this behavior. Dahlia in the office is great at organizing the schedule. Our nurse Kim is very thorough and explains every single medication she takes vitals but also takes to time to just be with mom and connect to see what her needs are. Rosanna, our occupational therapist checks mom to see her weak and strong points and we see major significant improvement when we follow her advice. Danny our physical therapist has a good balance in figuring what she can and cannot do. She's so much better with this wonderful team of professionals by her side. They are also very positive, especially because at her age many people say, oh well what can you expect, but they actually examine to the patients best ability.
