Like many reviewers, I've been eating Senapes since I was a kid... thus over forty years now. I've had Longo's and others, but Senapes is still by far the king of the hill of NE PA style pitz. Regardless of changes in staff and ownership over the years, it's always stayed the same. Everyone I've introduced to their pitza, tea buns, poppy seed roll, etc over the years loves it as much as I do. Stop in, bring cash, load up and get yourself a box of pitz... or ten, and don't forget to include one to crush on the ride home. read more

Yummy pizza, excellent bread and breakfast buns! You can't go wrong with the cheese buns and the poppy seed buns. Everything is good.

Like the Knotty Pine, my family stops at Senape's Bakery (it's around the corner from the place in the pictures!) every time we visit Hazleton. There's a bakery (full of delicious baked goods) and a Tavern (where you can sit down at a bar or table and have a drink or some pitza), about a block apart. You can't drive through Hazleton without getting some pitza! Square, DELICIOUS at room temperature or warmed, it's the perfect road-trip food (grab a whole box at the bakery) or reason to let the engine cool off for awhile if you're driving through. The bakery also makes great breads, and my other favorites are their traditional nut rolls and poppy-seed rolls. read more

Living out west you just don't see this kind of food until you visit where you grew up.i try to explain it to my friends but they have no idea what the rave is about until you bring them this box of heaven. Senape's is a must visit when I get to Hazleton. Pizza boats and a box of Pitz just hits the spot and takes me back to my youth and reminds me of the good times living here. I have never even been to this bakery. Ever. But let me tell you something - the pitza is so good, I want to drive close to 8 hours round trip to buy 20 boxes for my freezer. I also want 4 additional boxes, just for the drive home. When my girlfriend's parents first exposed me to the glory that is Senape's we were right outside of Baltimore (they visit PA regularly bc of family). I was skeptical when I took my first bite - it's just pizza. But then I kept eating. And eating. And the pitza just KEPT GETTING BETTER. To the point now where I now want 20 boxes for my freezer. I do like adding just a touch of sea salt (or truffle salt, if you can get it) on top... but even without, its amazing. I'm writing this review because I just ate a slice my girlfriend brought back from her parent's freezer... it has been in there for 6 months, and is as good as ever. Sweet, salty, tomato-y. There is only one slice left. I am seriously considering eating it... though she will leave me if I do. DAMNIT. Girlfriend? Pitza. Girlfriend? Pitza. I DON'T KNOW ANYMORE. read more

One of a kind, cold pitza. As good as it gets, ultra yummers.

I prefer Senape's to Longo's -- I'm sure everything they make is great, but the real draw is their unique boxed pizza with grated romano cheese cut into squares (to be eaten at room temp, cold, or warmed in the toaster). read more

With much interest I tried the pitza last year and enjoyed it. If you try the pitza expecting it to taste a certain way, you may be disappointed. Plus, the bakery had a bunch of other good stuff. They had these items I believe they called sweet rolls, but they were the closest thing I've been able to find in some time that resemble a kolache. read more

Fresh baked goods, friendly service, and all at an extremely reasonable price. Last time I was there they were even giving 2 baked items free with every purchase. Try the cinnamon rolls and pitza. Best pitza in NEPA in my opinion. read more

My mother's side of the family is from Hazelton. I hadn't had Senape's pizta for at least 8 years. Recently, they visited us in Va, went to see family up there, and returned home - WITH ROUND BREAD AND PITZA. Dear God why have I waited eight years to eat this again? Wow. Thanks Mom. This stuff is unreal. My two year old is punishing the pitza as I write this. Also, the hot pizza with scamutz cheese is to die for. If you are within a few hours, it's worth the trip. read more

I have lived in Jersey since I was six years old. But I am originally from Kelayres PA. & have eaten Senape's pitza for as long as I could remember from when I was kid. I am 51 years old now & the pitza is still the best I've ever eaten, especially since you can eat it without heating up. You can't find a great snack like that in Jersey that tastes great cold. I've been a fan of Senape's ever since I was old enough to remember how things taste. So, in other words, for a long long time. I moved away from Conyngham long ago but when I come down to visit I take a huge supply of Senape's pizza back with me and savor every bite. Bakery prices are decent. Food is fresh and excellent quality.

We go to this bakery every time we go to Hazleton. My parents were born and raised in the area, so I was introduced to the pitza and baked goods at a very young age. The bread and sweet rolls are to die for. We get orders from people when they know we are heading up north. read more

Some people are mixing up the "bakery" with the restaurant down the block. SENAPES BAKERY rocks!! I have family in hazleton I come up to visit and before we leave I make sure I put in an order to pick up the next day. Even co-workers put in orders with us.. I've only had the pleasure to eat in the restaurant once, for my father-in-law's birthday. EVERYTHING was delicious! Service was prompt and friendly. My husband's family has been going here for years and have been raving about it to me for a decade. They weren't exagerrating. Their pizza is one of the best in Hazleton. Senape's Bakery is a staple of my childhood and the pitza is as good now as it was 25 years ago! My dad is from Jeddo, and anytime he is back home visiting my nana he is sure to bring home at least 10 boxes of pitza for everyone up here in Erie. We all love it! It is so fresh and unique, and just plain delicious! I personally love it when it's left on the counter and not refrigerated, but everyone has their own preference on how to enjoy this delicacy!
