What a wonderful find!! This place is a huge treasure trove of antiques, vintage & modern items. Furniture, appliances, lamps, kitchen, china, hutches, ladders, tools, art, and so on. There is so much stuff, I could have spent all day! And everything is very reasonably priced. The best part is the owner uses the proceeds to rescue homeless pets and they are well taken care of. I saw a few pups and kitties in the store - they are available for adoption, so check here first if you're looking for a new fur baby!! While the intentions are good, the overwhelming stench of cat pee truly ruins the experience. I highly suggest some vapor rub under your nose if you're going to go. The inventory is hit and miss, though well priced & I can't blame anyone for not wanting to put anything porous for sale in the building. The cats around the facility are friendly and I love to support a good cause, but the smell is something you can't really prepare for & will need to wash off afterwards. read more

A very good purpose (rescuing animals), but the stench is unbearable. Place is huge. 95% of content is way overpriced and price tags so faded they must have been there for years. I would suggest a complete overhaul of prices to start moving product to make some money for the cause. And I don't know what they can do about the smell but no way should you buy porous goods like wood or fabric from there because the stench will be embedded. This place is the only hope for many animals who have been left to die in the streets or put to death in a shelter! I support what these folks are doing to help them get the meds they need and a home, and the fact that it's all happening in a place where you can find all kinds of treasures at great prices makes it even better! Some people only think of themselves and feel nothing is good enough for them.......makes me wonder if their last trip to a shelter was to pick up a pet or leave one behind!!! Great variety of antiques, gifts, furniture. Proceeds support local pet adoption and owner allows dogs and cats to roam the place. So, be careful where you step. Also, the order is strong of urine, pet dander etc. They clean up occasionally with Fabuloso, so you will encounter a break in the smell as you walk around. Let me start off by saying there is a huge sign at the front door that there are animals. If you are cold hearted and dislike animals this isn't the place for you. However, if you are a reasonable human that understands that animals have smells and make noise and you are looking for treasures, this is the place for you. You will find things from your childhood and things you've never dreamed of. The prices are reasonable and you can't beat the collections she has. This place is CLEAN and organized and curated into colors or collections. I come here because I know I will find a treasure and BECAUSE of the animals. The owner gives everything to these animals that have been abandoned, mistreated and frankly just need a kind human touch. Every dime goes in to feeding and caring for these dogs and cats that otherwise would have been killed by now. The Cotton Mill is a large, older warehouse to visit for antique and vintage shopping. There are many booths of items to explore. Raylene is the owner and has a heart of gold. She runs a dog and cat rescue mission inside the building as well. Raylene and volunteers take good care of these animals giving them food, shelter and love. If you are considering adding a dog or cat to your family, you may wish to check with Raylene to see what she has available. I need to let you know that with the animals comes a somewhat unpleasant odor. I personally wear a mask when shopping there but most do not. I was so disappointed to see the condition of so many sick cats in this place. I wish I would have taken pictures to post .... i was too sad to even do that. More than 6 cats that I pet were skin and bones and 3 were laying in random spots lethargic. The entire place smells like urine, it's not a healthy environment to be in..... for anyone. Holy flea market. This huge building used to be a cotton mill, a desk manufacturer, and I believe during the war they made parachutes in that building. This place is an animal rescue as well, so if you are not animal friendly, this is not the place for you, as there are dogs and cats everywhere you turn. There is a little bit of everything in this place and you are bound to find anything and everything you may want from furniture, books, pots and pans, dishes, gadgets and gizmos galore. read more

It's a very noble thing to rescue animals--but the owner/manager of this place may have taken on more they can handle. There are animals EVERYWHERE here, and they are lovely, and I adore them, but... anything that can absorb smells/fluids has absorbed urine/spray, and water/mildew from the leaky roof can and has. Unfortunately, a lot of the items aren't even sellible due to neglect. The store is very disorganized, some of the prices are absurd for the condition of the item, and it is frustrating when the staff isn't concentrating on the customer service because they're distracted. I hate to criticize this establishment because I'm sure hearts are in the right places, but as an antique store... it has some serious issues. read more

Hats off to what they do for the animals but this place reeks of cat urine and there is cat urine on everything... the animals roam freely and pee and poop everywhere. The owner was very hateful and nasty to us when we approached her about the smell of urine in her establishment. there is a presence of urine on the floor,beds and other merchandise. This might be a great place to find antiques, but it is also a pet rescue. We walked through the door, and had to leave. The urine smell was extremely strong, and sickening. I have been going to the Selma Cotton Mill fir almost 20 years. I began shopping there for photography props and it has continued to be my go-to for items to repurpose and more. This is also a 501c3 animal rescue (Street Dogs & Stray Cats) and I have adopted 2 dogs from there. This an antique type mall and flea market. Items marked "cat" go directly to the animals support. There are cats and dogs who consider the flea market home as well as animals up for adoption. read more

I have to say that when I went here I was absolutely amazed on how big this store was but , what completely and totally took my heart away was how wonderful the stray animals were so taken care of and not to mention how many people donate from food to money to help keep the animals healthy!!! This place had tons of stuff but you will see piles of urine everywhere. Dogs have peed on pretty much everything. I thought it was the roof leaking and then I realized dogs have lift their legs and peed on furniture and cats have scratched furniture everywhere. I realized she rescues animals but at what cost. It's a shame this place has tons of potential and decent stuff for sale but I'm sure anything you purchase here needs to stay outside in the yard and not brought into your home. Everything just reeks of animal urine. Sorry but no thank you. We frequent antique shops all the time I even like animal rescue but you can't put the two together if you can't contain the animal urine and or feces. within five minutes you can't stand the smell and you have to leave or it will give you a migraine. I love going to Selma Cotton Gin. We have been shopping here for over 4 years now and its a favorite of mine. I try to go at least once a month. I never leave without buying something. There is such a great variety. The owner is so down to earth and easy to deal with. She always greets you with a "Hello" She has a heart of gold and it shows in the work she does to save unwanted animals. She gives them a home, (where they otherwise would not have one) feeds them and takes wonderful care of them. I enjoy each visit when I go there.
