The estimator would not provode an estimate because only my wife was present. The guy actually had the gall to call me a liar on the phone because he thought I said I would be present. This company has this archaic way of doing business only if both owers are present. This is complete garbage. The estimator not only made my wife feel small and the intimation verged on sexism. July of 2023 we had a Selig window salesman give us a heart stopping estimate of over $40,000 for 17 windows and a slider, we said no thank you. He came down to $33,180 (still a lot) but we wanted to replace our stationary windows for windows that would not open to circulate air in the summer. Our old windows were in good condition and had no leaks! In September they came to install the windows. Three were incorrect and had to be reordered. The three came in and were installed but the balencers were incorrect. More waiting. Finally they came in and we thought we were done. Winter set in. We get temperatures in the teens. We could not keep our house warm in spite of loading our wood stove night and day! We finally noticed the windows were leaking in cold air. We called Selig and explained our issue. They sent up the same installer and he caulked the outside. No fix. After researching I found out that the windows were most likely improperly installed. I called again, they send up the SAME installer, more caulking. Some were fixed but some still leak. They said they would send someone else. Never happened. I believe once the caulking shrinks, the windows will leak again, and we will have to replace the windows. Completely frustrating. Never would I go through Selig again. I did try to leave a review on their site but apparently they only post the good reviews!!!! read more

This is the WORST Co as far as Customer Service! These people are the rudest I have ever encountered. I'd expect the kind of behavior I got from back alley drunken bums! My project was a month late, so I called to find out problem. Secretary was rude because I said Scott (apparently the RUDE OWNER) told me 2 weeks! Scott can't keep his flapping trap shut long enough for me to get in 2 words He was like the interrupting COW on steroids I couldn't finish 1 sentence without him rudely interrupting me, saying What is it you want, or no I didn't, or what's the problem? Well if he could shut the trap for 2 secs, I was trying to explain that BOTH MY PARENTS were in Hospital!! The Job was at my parents for a roll in shower because MOM couldn't even have a shower for a month! Bed baths ONLY! SHE was TRAUMITIZED from the Camp Fire almost burning them ALIVE, so with them in hospital, I'd Like them to GET THE JOB DONE! But good old Scott just kept interrupting me, then HUNG UP ON ME! I called the office back to find out who owner was and report Scott's behavior! A guy answered the phone. I said (nicely) Hi I was hoping to get the owners name I hear the Secretary hollering at him to just hang up and Scott will call me back GUY sais: Scott will call you back! I said: I don't want to speak to Scott, I'd like the owners name. Secretary YELLS at him and the GUY HANGS UP ON ME!! WTF?? So Scott calls back. He informs me HE is the Owner!! I said...well SCOTT 1st off, Your and your company are the RUDEST people I've ever met!! All you do is interrupting me (by the way..he kept interrupting as I'm speaking..again!) I finally said. You know WHAT? Since you like to TALK SO MUCH, how about YOU go 1st. I'll SHUT UP and Listen and when your ALL DONE, let me know, so I can actually tell you what my concerns are?? He said I looked at Calendar and Thanksgiving is coming, so after Thanksgiving Umm No. That's not going to work for me. I've waited and waited, was lied to and now you have supplies, so I need it done before parents return home. He hung up on MEWTF? In ALL my Life I've NEVER EXPERIENCED SUCH OBNOXIOUS, RUDE CUSTOMER SERVICE!! Even if I was an angry customer, which I wasn't! I was exhausted, laying in bed, not yelling, not raising my voice, just simply trying to get a promised job done! I informed her that LEGALLY a construction Co can ONLY collect 10% or $1,000 if 10% is less than a $1,000. Her "Guy" who works for the Company had called me 2 weeks or so prior to ask if my Dad was gonna be home. He thought the contact number was my Dad. He was headed over to demand another payment! This is ILLEGAL!! There were NO materials on the JOB!! SO can not collect MORE MONEY! LUCKILY my Dad was with it enough to know this is illegal! He was a contractor and knows the law. She said she would look at calendar and try to accommodate. My experience: After two weeks of trying to book an appointment for an estimate on a home renovation, I finally got someone on the phone and to set my appt. The day before my appointment, i took the additional time to Call to confirm the appt window. everything seemed ok. On the day of, they ghosted me. No called / No showed I called to make sure that I was not at fault (they got lost, got the wrong info) but the lady told me "oh we don't know what happened" I tried to reschedule (idfk why at this point) and she said she would call me back after she looked into what happened. Selig Construction replaced all out windows, sliding doors and installed a new 58" x 58" window. One must really experience the heat test between the kind of windows we had and ones we chose. The best part is these new windows are to cut our PG&E by 40%. This must be true. It has been I credibly hot 100+ and the A/C does not have to be run 100% of the time. The last PG&E bill was about $150 less than a year ago. Normally with the weather as it is now next month bill ought to be about $600. It will be interesting to see the savings. Communication with Selig was simple and always considerate of our needs and their installation plans. I recognize there are several poor evaluations for Selig. Not sure what happened to others. Give Selig a chance. When I first started, I told them the first thing was poor evaluations. I wanted to know what they could offer me so the business would run smoothly. Had two bathrooms remodeled and a walk in tub installed. The walk in tub jets only worked for a year. The whole instrument panel has shorted out apparently. They advertize a 'Lifetime Warranty' but I have called their office seven times and calls have been ignored. I even ran into the tech that installed the tub at the store, but he just said he would pass the message on. I am still waiting for a call back and for Selig to make good on their promise. Incidentally, for both remodelings and the tub I spent $30,000 in insurance money and then $5,000 more out of my own pocket. Pretty sad read more

I believe I initally left a positive review for Selig at their request when they finished the work at our house. This is an update. The young men who came to do the work were very nice, but Selig does sloppy work and has poor construction practices. We recently decided to put Hardy siding on the front of the house and remove the belly band on the front and side and replace it with regular 2x6 window trim. When our contractor removed the belly band and the existing trim he discovered that when Selig had done the windows they had cut the existing siding back 4to 6 inches around the windows, installed the windows and left the space unfilled. Therefore there was nothing solid to which my contractor could attach the new trim. That meant that we also had to install all new siding to the east side of the house as well. Obviously, this drove the cost up well beyond what we were expecting. This would have been totally unnecessary had Selig done a quality job. I imagine that there are many other poor Selig jobs out there that as yet the homeowners are unaware. Considering that most people only keep their home for 6-7 years I'm sure Selig would not expect a homeowner to discover the poor quality workmanship they do. Had it not been our desire to have the Hardy siding on the house we certainly would not have noticed. And before you ask, yes our contractor took pictures and showed them to me as soon as they removed the old trim........and yes, we trust our contractor completely. He has done much work for us and always does an honest, quality job. I will try to post the pictures our contractor took. You can see the problem. However the windows are on the second story of our home so the mess was not visable to us from the ground. read more

Wow. Selig just went above and beyond! A gazillion years ago my grandparents had all of their windows upgraded by Selig and now I am the owner of our childhood home. One of the windows was popping out of the wall (all the other windows were great) and they came out at no charge and reinstalled the window and it looks great! So they came out and didn't charge me at all since it was "under warranty". I am wondering if they even needed to honor the warranty because I am the new owner of the house, but they did. My grandfather would be so proud (R.I.P.) since it was his idea to install the upgraded windows so long ago. The guys were professional and worked fast. Great job Selig! And thank you! read more

We had Selig install Anlin custom windows in 2020. They gave us a competitive bid. They scheduled us in quickly and arrived when they said they would. It was during both the pandemic and the huge fires in Quincy & Berry Creek. What is most impressive about Selig is their professionalism and integrity. As soon as they began the installation it was apparent that there was an error in the measurements. Gary determined the best solution was replacing our trim. Because it was during the beginning of the lockdown, building materials were in short supply. they drove all over the north state until they found all the trim. They replaced the trim and installed the windows to our satisfaction. Because we are at the lake it took us until now to get the windows painted. I waited until now to provide this review. I literally can't recommend them more. They treated us with the utmost respect. Did a wonderful job. Resolved their mistake without question. Reimbursed us for the painting. From start to finish, a great experience. Had all the windows replaced in our home from aluminum to vinyl. Jeff is our salesman and had a great presentation. Took the time and patience to answer all our questions. Offered us a couple of discounts, which helped us save some money !!! Windows were ordered and about a month later came in. The installers, Gary and Nick are awesome. Super friendly, professional, thorough and knowledgable. They both know alot about windows and they too patiently answered all our questions during the install. Hard working and the result is nothing less then beautiful. We are extremely pleased with the new windows. We immediately felt the difference in the room temperature, the brightness from the natural light coming in and the curb appeal is wonderful. I, without hesitation, recommend Selig if you need windows replaced. They have exceeded my expectations. 4 stars only for the fact that Chris, the Installation Supervisor, is difficult to get a hold of. I called Selig after getting an ad in the mail and just wanted a bid on getting all our windows replaced, I didn't have he slightest inkling of how much such a thing might cost. I didn't realize it was going to be a high-pressure sales gig. I was very polite and the original bid was 27,000$. Then with all the "discounts" Selig offered they made it seem lucky to be able to reduce it down to 17,000$. Which was ridiculous. The salesman was horrible, when he showed us 17k$ and I said we'd have to discuss a purchase that large he got irritable and pushy and eventually rude. Got a bid from Lowe's for 11,000$ for the same work, I've heard the Anlin windows Selig does are crap and we got Pella windows, so far so good after a few months. I still get harassed about 10 months later by Selig for calls and each time I ask them to remove me from my list. My advice is to stay away from Selig, they prey upon elderly people and people that don't know better. Definitely get a second opinion/bid. You are likely overpaying by 50%. read more

My experience was similar to a previous review. I am a truck driver only home 1-2 days per week. My wife takes care of the house for the most part, they would not meet with my wife only. Made an appt for my day off and the rep showed up in a timely manner and had a great presentation. He seemed eager to have us commit to the project then and there but we made clear we were doing "due diligence" and getting three estimates. After the presentation and measurements the rep could not give us an estimate on the spot, he said he would e-mail us. Also could not provide us with his phone number. Five days later (no e-mail) he showed up unannounced. He had a total (not itemized) on a scratch piece of paper that my wife was not able to keep but could take a picture of. We had 26 windows replaced, with three different experiences. First is the actual windows. They are awesome and well worth it in terms of noise reduction, temperature maintenance and appearance. Second was the installation. Overall excellent. Patrick and Julian's craftsmanship was excellent. A little loose showing up when they said they would, but they finished on-time. Finally, was management and the process. The sales person glossed over a lot of the details on how they retrofit windows. He emphasized the quality of the product and their accuracy measuring and double checking. He did mention some reduction in the glass area because of the process. When I received the official quote it was several thousand over what he had shown me onsite, he said it was not, I said to just send me a picture of the initial quote and it suddenly dropped back down. I had a lot of detailed questions along the way and I got the distinct sense that if you took them at their word they are great but when you question the details, their attitude definitely changes. Despite saying one of the owners would call me about my invoice questions, they used my detailed credit card information, including security code, that they had kept, to charge my card and then he responded to my email. Begrudgingly I finally got all my questions answered but it was a painful process. Their tight tolerances boiled down the the industry standard of 1/4 inch all the way around, but no real explanation for those instances where there were gaps of up to 1.5 inches (it's complicated. but we know what we are doing..). The long narrow windows lost about 50% of their viewable area. And all the rounding down (the sizes measured by the sales person were over 10% larger than the actual windows delivered) were 'normal' and didn't affect the cost. read more

With a competent, hired, and able-brained CS rep. The time, date, address, and info was all set-its in my calendar. . . 5? 10? minutes later-a NEW selig CS rep calls me to tell me in not so many words that either I am a liar or the CS rep is an idiot. Those are the 2 choices. Of course she didnt say that-what she actually said is-i need to confirm every single little detail, twice. I said-your CS rep JUST CONFIRMED x minutes ago and "SHE GOT IT RIGHT" she said-company policy, blah blah, i said-"SHE GOT IT RIGHT" and said goodbye. . . 2pm rolls around-no selig guy. 2;50-i call selig they know who i am they look me up by phone number and say-hold on- new CS rep gets on-"so the only thing i can tell is appointment didnt get confirmed" in shock-i say WHAT! so your company doesnt trust your CS rep? she says no-"sometimes people give us wrong information so we have to check" WHAT?! why would people give wrong information? seriously?! "I can set a new appointment" no thanks-goodbye. BTW-since my glass guy shop burned in the #CAMPFIRE, i DID need a window quote. now I again am reminded of selig high pressure sales and the reason they are ALWAYS hiring. A while back I had a salesman from Selig stop by for a quote to install a set of French Doors to replace my slider. The salesman (James) was new at the job but did a very good job of explaining the process. However, after he left I decided that I wanted to "see" the door because I never heard of the brand and wanted to make sure it was the quality and look that we were after. So I called the office in Chico and was told they would have Rob (or Bob I forget) get back with me. Two days go by and nothing...so I call back and they say Rob/Bob will call me right away. Another two days and nothing. Strike 2... I call again and get the same response. "Rob/Bob will call you right away" Well a week goes by and still nothing, so Rob/Bob, if either of those is your real name...strike three...I went with someone else. If that is the way they treat prospective customers I can only imagine what they do once they have your money. read more

I called Selig to get a quote with the $99 but back window sale. I was originally scheduled on January its been over a month now. First, Sara guaranteed Selig could beat a competitor price and scheduled me for a quote. Sara then called and rescheduled on us another 2 times due to various reasons and offered a "discount" on installation on the last reschedule for to all the "issues". I recieved a call from an installer the day before my my 3rd appt reschedule. He asked if we had any windows to pick up from our services. I apologized to the guy and stated my quote was scheduled for the next day. He said what, I don't see you're scheduled. So immediately I called Sara and requested a confirmation for next days appointment. Sara apologized and stated she would need to reschedule my appt yet, again and for the 4TH TIME. Then, Sara confirmed if both my husband and I would be present. Allegedly it's their policy that both homeowners be present for their salesman to come out and try upset the products and various choices. Meanwhile, through all conversations I've previously had eith her, I told her I could not guarantee my husband would be present and we both knew exactly what we wanted....her reply?? Well you make the choices together right, that's why we need you both present so we are not delayed with signing paperwork and getting you scheduled. Sara(h) became rude and unprofessional when I told her again I could not guarantee my husband would be home. She stayed she would just call the morning of to guarantee he would be home. After giving me the run around regarding my husband's presence, I asked directly if my appt will be cancelled is he is not here.. She finally told my wife that if I wasn't there for the sales pitch and and confirmed they were not going to come out. At this time I explained I don't know when that will be and should cancel the appt for the next day and before I could finish my sentence, I was hung up on. Seriously, I can understand wanting to make sure the information shared is understood, however we already knew exactly what we wanted, repeated the given information about my husbands schedule several times through all 4 phone calls regarding rescheduling all 4 appts. The shady runaroun this last month is ridiculous. Be straightforward with folks, in this day and age; a lot of us don't have the time and convenience for this unprofessionalism. We had Selig install vinyl siding on our home several years ago. Not only did they do a subpar job, they had a very rude subcontractor run the job. We were told they Never subbed work. They left our yard in a mess with scrap material and nails everywhere, cigarette butts all over my yard, two broke exterior light fixtures, a large new window screen that we have never been able to reinstall to the window, and more. We called repeatedly for resolution from them and got very little. Now after the heavy winds we've had recently, especially last Saturday night, 5/6/2017, we have sections of siding laying in the back yard. They came off during the night. Upon my own inspection I discovered that the sections were not attached to the house, just slide under trim. It's not enough damage for our insurance and I am sure that Chris at Selig is going to tell me it's not their responsibility any longer. So I wouldn't recommend Selig construction to side my dog house. Maybe if they read this someone will contact me to repair my house siding, but I'm doubtful. From start to finish these guys did a great job. Bill, from sales, did a great job of showing efficiency and construction of the product which is made right here in California. Then guys came to make a materials list and measured for the second time (measure twice, cut once). And a month or so later the installers, Patrick and Jas, showed up with everything they needed to repair a dry rotted sill that matches the rest of my sills perfectly. Installation was done extremely efficiently by two guys who were exceedingly polite and fun to have around. The update from those old aluminum framed window makes the house look terrific! I set up an appointment at the home and garden show over the weekend. I told the lady I wanted to get an appointment as soon as possible. She set me up for the following day at 2pm. Anyone thinking of using this company run and run fast. Not only was the job not done well, they left messes and messed up framing in my shop. And they refused to return phone calls and here is the kicker. We originally signed for financing on these windows through one company and signed off and all the loan company was waiting on was a hand signed letter of completion. Job not complete no signature till its right. So what they did was go and get a new loan without our authorization and somehow got all the info without our knowledge and got the windows paid for without us even knowing. And according to the new loan company the only way they could have gotten paid is with the account info we would have had to give them. Funny part is we did not even get anything in the mail till yesterday showing we now have a new loan with different rates and payments then promised. So now I have to get everyone and everything on board to fight this. And maybe when they dont have their money that the got fraudulently we might get our windows fixed and installed correctly. If you think I am making up how bad the install is and how bad the mess was respond and I will email you pictures and videos. Will blow your mind. I hope Selig reads this and reaches out to explain how they got a loan and paid without mine and my wife signatures. And how and why they used my wife's maiden name on the application instead of her married name. So much is not right and done wrong. Ben Pollock gave me an estimate for replacing two windows and a shower. This appeared to be an estimate, since no breakdown was shown for labor, materials,or cost for each part of the job. Work was completed, the workmen did an adequate job. I called Selig several times and wrote asking for a breakdown of charges for income tax purposes. Also, an unsolicited sign placed in front of my driveway stated senior citizen discount. No mention of such discount was made, and no discount was given. Finally, three months after shower installation caulk began peeling on corner shelves. I wrote about this but of course received no response. If you don't mind dealing with a business with no customer service, call Selig, and good luck. read more

We purchased our windows and vinyl siding from Selig in 2003. We needed to have one piece of our siding replaced as it got damaged. I called two weeks ago and left a message to see if it would be worth their while to come to Martinez to repair the siding. Since they were the ones who installed it, I figured it would be best to have them fix it. The receptionist said she would leave a message for Chris. Two weeks later (it might have been three) I never received a call back. I called again yesterday and left another message for Chris (with the same receptionist), and still no call back. I just wanted to know if it was worth them coming to replace one piece or maybe they could recommend someone in my area who could help me fix it. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL! UNCALLED FOR! A simple call back is all I was requesting, especially after spending so much money with that company. How do you anticipate getting referrals when your customer service SUCKS! Life-time guarantee??? I called Selig and asked for an estimate on getting some windows replaced. They set up an appointment but insisted my wife be there. She couldn't make it so they refused to come to my house. I went with another company that's much easier to work with. Selig calls me every so often and I hang up and block the number, but they just call from a new number. I gave them one star because at least their telemarketers are creative about contacting people. read more

Selig Construction is an outright frightening company located in Chico CA. Recently my wife had to call the police as one of their very large salesmen refused to leave her parents property. He had the elderly couple backed against the house wall in Paradise. He was screaming obscenities and would not leave. The police dispatcher could hear it all and sent police immediately. The couple was confused because the quote was twice as much as other local companies and he was DEMANDING a check from them- up front- to start a job they did not want in the first place. My wife contacted Selig to get an estimate to have an awning installed in front of our house. The person who scheduled the appointment told my wife, "your husband has to be at the appointment." Seemed like a strange request, but okay. The appointment time came and went and no phone call was received. I sent a follow-up email to the company, but did not receive a response to that either. Extremely poor customer service (IMHO). read more

This post is to respond to one of the recent post about Selig. Our complaint was on the behavior of the sales person Ben who came to estimate a job. So, we ended up posting a very low rating on Selig, which we stand by. However, shortly after we received a call from one of the owners who was very concerned about our post. He listened to our story, he admitted Ben had completely misrepresented his company and his position in the company. He then apologized on behalf of the company. This owner did the right thing by reaching out to correct a horrible experience. We hope he can get Ben in line with his company's mission or I can see many more of these ratings coming forward. read more
