Jeanne and Robert's gem of a store was a fixture in downtown Arlington Heights for twenty-three years. Fantastic wines at great price points was the main attraction and the housewares selections were equally top notch. Beyond the fantastic products were the amazing cast of characters that crossed the threshold. Customers, vendors, and employees alike congregated within and created quite the social amalgamation. I count myself lucky to be both a customer and a former employee. The eight years I worked there flew by and I'll cherish the conversations, the laughs, and the great moments of life that we shared along the way. I wanted to buy a new moisturizing cream that I saw online for a relative of mine to try. After…read moresome research, I realized that this cream is only available at the manufacturer's website or at The Paper Store or Uncharted. Interestingly, The Paper store and Uncharted are actually sister stores under the same parent company, TPS Group Holdings. Uncharted is like The Paper Store's younger sibling, designed to attract a broader audience with trending items. While The Paper Store is known for gifts, Uncharted focuses on trendy brands, apparel, jewelry, home décor, and personalized in-store events. Some existing Paper Store locations are being converted to the Uncharted format, bringing a fresh look and feel. I was happy to have found a new Uncharted in Arlington Heights, with 13,000 square feet of space to shop. The store looked modern and pleasant, with a lot of different small departments. However, my first visit was just a mission to purchase the new moisturizer, which was on a random free-standing display and was easy to find. Unfortunately, I only had about 10 to 15 minutes to look around in that morning. It sure looked like a store that I would enjoy browsing for a much longer time. The checkout counter was located in the middle of the store, unlike most other stores that have the checkouts near the front entrance. So, I did spend a couple minutes looking for it, especially there was no line at the time. There was one young lady behind the counter who was friendly and helpful. She patiently explained their rewards program to me. It was free and easy to join. After signing up, in my email I received a 10% off coupon for the entire purchase in my next visit. Please note that there are fine prints below the coupon that exclude certain brands. As my relative really likes the moisturizer, I will certainly return to buy more and take advantage of the 10% off coupon. I will spend more time shopping next time, and very hopefully will elevate my shopping experience to 5-star.

I went in seeing if there was anything I could get as a Christmas gift. I found a shirt that I could give as a gift for my husband. When I went to checkout, I was offered a 10% discount for giving them my phone number and email address (which took some time that I didn't really have during the bust holiday season). They rang up my shirt and I gave them the coupon. When I asked about why the 10% discount was not given, the salesperson told me that I couldn't use it with their coupon. I then made them erase the personal information I just gave them. For wasting my time and not having good customer service, I will not be going back to Uncharted.

We had purchased a new…read moreking-sized bed and were wanting an eclectic style bedroom, so we decided to procure our own nightstands instead of ordering the ones that matched our bed. We searched online for over a month, visited five or six furniture shops, and even made a special trip to Chicago's Chinatown to try to find something unique. Our greatest setback was the lack of quality in the pieces we saw. My husband stumbled on a local listing for a gorgeous crimson nightstand from M&E that was priced to sell. I love restored furniture and creative vintage flips. We drove thirty minutes to pick up the piece. The owner's inventory was stunning; beautiful and vibrantly colored vintage furniture that was carefully restored. They are extremely open and friendly people who are passionate about what they do. Their prices were more than fair. We were hooked. We asked them to keep us in mind for another nightstand. Not only did they keep in touch, but they found one! They re-did it to our liking and set an appointment for us to come by and get it. Then, my husband spotted another one that he loved more. They graciously offered to repaint it to our liking (at no extra cost, though we offered) and sell us that one instead of the one they had prepared for us. With a generous spirit like that, they should be in business for a long time!
