She even questioned whether I could update my own website as if I was lying about the technical skill to do so. ("Are you sure you're looking for [x] role, and not a [x] role?" and "Are you *sure* you're *able* to update your site?") The last role she contacted me for was entry-level, despite my having over a decade of experience, so I stopped responding. Anyone who's job-seeking knows how hopeless and vulnerable it can make you feel, well she made it 100x worse. Unlike a faceless rejection from HR, I couldn't shrug it off as "not personal," because her belittling was very personal. I was so despondent following those interactions with Chelsea, that I didn't apply for another job for 6 months. It took getting an interview at IDEO, one of the best companies in the world for creative, to get my confidence back. I had heard it from other people, but after that I finally realized--she's not a creative and she herself doesn't have enough experience in the industry to know what she's talking about.
