He wasted no time in scheduling me for arthroscopic surgery and a manipulation when all other measures were unsuccessful. He is soft-spoken, kind and caring. If you are looking for a doctor that will actually "listen" to what you are saying and not just hear the words, this is the guy for you. My surgery was successful and three years later, it is as though I never had an injury. Dr. Nichols also treated my husband successfully for tendonitis. His office staff is not only professional and efficient, they are friendly. They have gone above and beyond the call of duty to help me when I needed it with my insurance company. They have taken calls from me and answered any and all questions that they were able without every making me feel they were rushing me. He was my second opinion when my shoulder was initially injured and my first choice when I had to make a decision and when I recommended him to others. I can't think of a doctor I would rather have to perform surgery if necessary. I have the utmost confidence in Dr. Nichols.

I arrived at my first appointment for physical therapy only to be told that I could not be seen because they did not have my physician's order, and they could not receive it because my physician's office had already closed. When I made the appointment no one told me that I was responsible for bringing the physician's order. I had already been seen at this organization a few months earlier when I was having difficulty with my splint. I knew that they had my record because of the earlier appointment. I wasted a great deal of time and had to reschedule my entire week to solve their problem. At my first appointment I "shared" a therapist with another patient who needed a translator. The physical therapist would give the other patient directions, and then would direct his attention to me. Having never had physical therapy, I did not know whether this was standard procedure or not. I never complained, I simply accepted the situation. After my first appointment and before the next appointment, I was in pain. The pain was likely due to the home exercises that I was asked to complete. Prior to beginning "physical therapy" at this organization, I was pain free. I was fifteen minutes late for my second appointment. I should have planned extra time to compensate for the construction at a nearby highway exit, and unfortunately I was late. When I arrived I was told that the next patient had already arrived and I could not be seen until my next appointment. The therapist never asked how I was doing, or the reason for my tardiness. I was simply sent home - again. I regret that I was late for my appointment. However, given the fact that I was never seen for my first appointment because they didn't have the physician's order - their problem - not mine, and the fact that I shared a therapist for the second appointment, I would think that they would offer some flexibility. I believe that it was unconscionable to not inquire how I was doing. Before I began "physical therapy," I was pain free. Now I have declined, and am back to where I was four months ago. Even though I called their office to complain and to cancel all of my appointments, I received a robot appointment reminder call last night. I view this similar to the problem of not having my physician's order, and is symptomatic of their inefficiency.

My most recent visit was for massage therapy, right before the stay at home order was issued. Even before things were mandated, DP started enforcing new policies to best protect their staff and visitors. My massage was with Rachel K. This is not the person who is going to massage you to sleep and put you in a relaxed state of mind. This is the person who is going to give your exhausted and worked muscles the attention they need. It's a true sports massage and a real treat for your body. My experience with physical therapy here was great! Brian helped me through an issue with my calf using a combination of dry needling and physical therapy. They are now offering telehealth appointments which is great in our current situation. He told me incorrect information about muscle insertions, didn't know proper muscle names, and he even told me I needed to cut running out of my life forever to keep the pain away. As a 25 year old and a soon-to-be Doctor of Physical Therapy, I know for an absolute fact that he is wrong and it is disheartening to see that there are doctors out here like this. Instead, I chose to jump on Yelp and locate a nearby Orthopedic Office for help. I found Advanced Orthopedics who was just down the road from my Daughters Doctor and decided to schedule a visit there as she had an Appointment as well. I had called and spoken to Brittany who was very kind and gave me the first Appointment available which was 2 days away. I was told to be there early to do paperwork and do an X-Ray. I got there at 12:00 p.m. Brittany greeted me right away and handed me the paperwork. The paperwork was completed in 5 Minutes and then Lisa had taken me in right away to do my X-Ray. I was in the room by 12:10 p.m. Dr. Graham came in at 12:16 p.m. I was out of there by 12:37 p.m. with a Boot for my injured heel. So I didn't want to take any chances with it properly healing although I went to the emergency room and had x-rays done and scheduled a follow-up with a podiatrist to make sure everything is healing properly and get some advice on how to best make sure I recover well. Dr. Holtz was easy to see and I was able to quickly make an appointment for just a few days out. Easy to find in a strip-mall area by YNot Pizza off Kempsville with plenty of parking out front. I arrived as the first appointment of the day and there was no one else inside, so I was quickly checked in as a Sentara patient (since all my stuff is in the system) and only waited a few minutes to see the doctor. I really liked Dr. Holtz. He's very personable and friendly. He spent a lot of time with me answering all my questions and explaining what I had done to my foot and how it was healing. He gave me some good advice and went over my x-rays with me and reassured me that my healing was coming along nicely. We scheduled a follow-up appointment for a month for now but he told me to cancel it if I was fine because I didn't need to come in if I was doing OK. I'll be sure to keep this office on my rolodex if I need to come in for other foot issues and since I'm now running a lot I suspect some might crop up.

I will need surgery for rotator cuff, but I'm not ready for that. He's very kind. Doctor Campbell did my foot reconstruction. Everything went as planned. I love this doctor! After surgery he told my husband I'll be happy with the results. I'm post-op 5 weeks and I'm looking forward to being able to walk with no problems. All of these doctors are at the executive drive location, but most also work out of the Norfolk location! I'm very happy to have found such caring doctor!
