She did not look like she was sleeping, she looked very scary. The funeral was on Saturday so people could come without taking time off work, but the funeral personnel was "hurrying" everyone up, through-out the service and after, so the funeral company employees could leave as soon as possible even though an extra fee was paid to hold the funeral on a saturday. Quite clearly my Mom's funeral was just a job to be done and to get the money we paid them - enough to buy a car. No care was shown. Would NOT recommend.

Burks to pre-arrange funeral plans for our father whom was in Hospice and our mother whom was going through radiation and chemo treatments. T was very professional in explaining the aspects of the planning intracies and straight forward on the extravagances and rational necessities to help us come to logical decisions for our loved ones. The pre-arragement meeting was very informative for 1st time planners , non stressful and pleasant; due to no emotions being involved to ramp up pressure, both parents were still alive at this time. When Dad passed in September of 2018, J F Bell Funeral Home was the second call I received on that morning of his passing; Hospice was the 1st. T informed me that they would pick up Dad's remains within the hour, which they fulfilled. For the intial viewing by the family, Dad was looking very nice; clean shaven, nails clean and trimmed and a fresh haircut. Dad was presented very nicely at his Home going service with military honors. Eight months later in May of 2019 our mother went home to be with the Lord. Upon me notifying Bell of Mom's passing; I was assured by T that mom's remains would be picked up within the next hour and a half although she was in another state , that was fulfilled. At the familiy's 1st viewing of our mother, we were in awe of the way she looked. The work that Bell did on her nails, make up and the restoring of her facial likeness was impeccable. At the Home going service, Mom was dressed in a pink suit, Director Burks staff members Edward Jackson and John Booker wore pink necties to honor Mom and show support for her family. We sincerely appreciate the professionalism and compassion exhbited during our two most difficult experiences in our lives. Unfortunately, not only did they completely ignore the engraving specifications, but they also delivered a final product that was nothing like what we were promised - I do understand that things may change as the project gets started, but a courtesy call to make us aware of the inability to fulfill their promises would have made a world of a difference. The whole process took weeks longer than expected. As we called regularly to check-in and get updates, we were treated with complete disrespect. We were HUNG UP ON during certain calls as they did not want to admit to their mistakes. It went as far as them telling us that our pieces "didn't matter." This was completely heart-shattering as our pieces that "didn't matter" have been in our family for multiple generations. It was clear they had no intention of taking accountability and instead shot us down... as if that would help the situation??? absolutely absurd. This was not just a missed expectation; it was a total disregard for customer service & basic human decency.... We trusted them with something meaningful and were met with negligence. I am never one for reviews but I wish I read and trusted all of the other awful experiences. Would absolutely not recommend. AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

I called to check on the status a month later and was shocked when she told me "they look okay" and told me there are "many more important things to worry about than goblets". As I grew increasingly concerned, she hung up on me. I took my husband with me to pick them up. The engraving on the goblets do not match what we asked, nor do they match each other. They kept saying "it is legible and accurate" although it was very misaligned. They offered a $25 reimbursement and asked us to leave their place. He told us "we do not need your business". Never once did they apologize. To top it all off, their "refund" was actually another CHARGE to our account!
