We have been clients at SELCO 30+ years and are considering closing our accounts, personal & business. Their staff is personal and does the best with what they have. The automated online banking system is a disaster. Telephone contact with real people is traumatic. There is no option to talk to anyone in customer service. The only voice contact that is direct is with loan servicing, financial advisers or mortgage brokers, all of whom appear to be outside vendors. Management is setup behind a "Chinese Firewall". When you do get through to someone, never anyone with any authority the typical response is "Oh, I'm so sorry", "I apologise for the inconvenience." I have ask that "recorded" called be forwarded to individuals who have the authority to fix the problems. I have asked that those individuals respond to my concerns and to report what overt actions they have taken to resolve them. I am waiting for a reply. I Had the best experience being helped by a fella named McKennon, he not only got everything closed within a week's time but was so kind and professional! Do not bank with SELCO, their security for you account is a joke. I had 1500 dollars stolen out of my account randomly with no warning or notification of any kind in September. 5 months later after getting a new phone changing all account information my account got cleared again with no warning and no idea how. With that being said they can't guarantee my money back. Theres a reason a surge of scammers are coming after SELCO and only reason I can see is their security against this stuff is a joke. read more

Best bank I have ever had the pleasure doing business with. Covid has hit everything hard and hating on phone related issues is a bit inconsiderate. Getting ahold of a local branch is hard because they are actually helping people. Call centers are all experiencing issues, try calling any business, it's hard to get help these days. Clearly, local banks are being hit by a wave of transfer out of their banks, we had just sold our home and had a bit of cash, and I was recommended by a friend to try out SELCO CU, I called and was told I could get a very favorable interest rate of 5.25% interest for 9 months if I moved my money there. I diligently filled out all the online forms and had to wait several days until I reached out to SELCO rep asking when my account would be set up. After several back and forth communications, I finally was told I was "approved" for an account, after all of this and a 7 POINT DROP IN MY CREDIT SCORE, (yes they pull credit to open an account), they stated the best interest rate would be way below this offer, (1-2%). I am furious! I have promptly closed this account, totally frustrated!! read more

I've never had so many complaints about a Credit Union ever! From the 7 business days to hold a check, slow drive up, couldn't even give me an estimate on an interest rate for a home equity loan, didn't pay a bill pay or it got lost (they send checks and it's slow!) got a credit ding and fortunately had enough to pay my morgage 3 times and it took months to get reimbursed what they pulled out for the bill pay, to now, bill pay down for a week and I can't check my balance to see if there's enough to ACH out of the checking. I'm going to have to call the bill collectors with a credit card. I think I've already paid one too... But who knows. I hate them and it looks like every other bank/C.U in Bend is just as bad. I transferred from First Tech Federal Credit Union in the Portland area to Selco about 6 months ago, since First Tech CU doesn't have an established brick and mortar presence in Central Oregon. So far the jury is out on how I feel about Selco. While First Tech's mobile app is so very easy to navigate, I have trouble just navigating Selco's online site. For 2 yrs I did all my First Tech banking remotely while living in Central Oregon and I would have continued but there were a few issues that arose that could only be remedied by in-person customer service visits (the app had its limitations for as slick as it was/is). I still have my First Tech account (I've had it since 1979) so who knows? I may just go back to First Tech's remote banking if I don't feel Selco is worth the bother. Maybe I'll get used to Selco's somewhat clunky online site in time (I'm really not even motivated to try their mobile app), but its a definite downgrade from First Tech's. read more

Do not use Selco if you want any kind of customer service. Their website went down today and we couldn't get any kind of service over the phone. We sat on hold for 30 minutes and then tried to call the branch directly and was just re-routed to the call center where we waited for another 30 min with no answer.TERRIBLE service and TERRIBLE overall experience. read more

My first time coming to SELCO wasn't the best. The second time around was a lot better. The tellers where very nice and I was treated with the upmost respect. All the employees seemed very happy and ready to help customers. read more

Just started an account with Selco, and went in with my wife to apply for a second credit card, we are young so have little established credit but my existing credit card has a $25k limit and never been a late payment I pay it off at the end of every month, I've had one credit account go to collections in 2004 witch was pain in full in 2007. I explained that I wanted to build my credit, the woman banker who helped us was very bland no personality and did not explain anything. She proceeded to print out my credit report from Equifax and misread the entire document to me. In other words this banker had no idea how to read a credit report she told me there were unpaid Charged off accounts and that they should be felt with. I called all three credit agencies all of witch said the same thing no outstanding debts and everything has been paid off my credit scores are 680, 696 and 730. Selco denied me a $500 credit card I called the customer service number who said they see no reason for me not to be approved. I went to Onpoint a week later and was approved for a $3000 limit card!!! Stay away from Selco they are rude uninformed and do not work with local customers to help them learn and understand the financial world. Plus third credit approval program is messed up read more

I started with Selco a couple years ago, switching from a Bank. I wanted a community to do financing with and a credit union that was started by teachers sounded great. Since then, I have been really happy with the customer service. Kathy and Alli are wonderful at the Bend Branch. I work right next to the Redmond one as well. Of all the times I've lost my card, they never get annoyed. I wish I could remember everyone's names, but a couple gals helped me for a long time the other day, getting everything I needed squared away. Even the lady I spoke with on the phone was extremely helpful. Yeah, the drive through in Bend is often busted. But its about how they handle the situation. And Alli handled it well with me, erasing an overdraft fee due to the inconvenience. I appreciate you all, which is why I utilize your personal and business insurance, keeping all my stuff in one place. It really makes financing easier when I can walk away feeling like I got my task seamlessly checked off the list. Thanks alot! read more

I am a huge supporter of local businesses and credit unions, but Selco is not the one you want. My husband and I needed a new HSA account and we decided to go with Selco. The woman who signed us up had zero personality and never explained that even though we filled out all our paperwork online and still had to come in to complete our application that once we received our rollover check that we would have to make time to sit down with her AGAIN. When I did return to try and deposit our rollover the teller was rude and dismissive telling me I needed to speak to someone else that she could not make the deposit. Then the same woman who signed us up happened to be there and said that I could not deposit the check; my husband had to come in (again very dismissive and not even acknowledging that our own time is valuable as well). I sent my husband back to close the account just a week after opening it and they never even asked why. Stay away from Selco! read more
