Long overdue review for Sekas. Long story short, someone spilled beer on my fur lined mackage coat with leather sleeves.Nicholas to the rescue!! He said they could clean it and suggested polishing the sleeves. A week later he was able to save my poor coat. Lesson learned, this jacket will be a safe distance from said person. Im so happy to get Cordelia back. The shop has a ton of wonderful selection of fur and fur trimmed items. I ended up buying a 20/80 cashmere wool blend cape with fur from Nicholas. Wore it for the first time this last weekend and it had holes in it where I had originally gotten work done. Brought it back and he gave me an issue. After chatting, he was supposed to do the work. I got the call to pick up the coat today, there is still a hole in it. He said I gained weight. Would refuse to open up the door. Go anywhere else but here... I was gifted a 3/4 length mink coat that was probably already 30 years old. I brought it in, learned more about the kind of mink that was used for the construction of the coat and had a few alterations done to lengthen the sleeves. There was no sign, but the coat was altered. It looks beautiful and original. I also had the coat cleaned and when I picked it up, it looked so fresh and brand new as though it didn't have three decades of use already add on a few free room, light repairs they did for me, and this will forever be my go to fur shop. read more

Sekas is awesome. The work is top notch, the owner is knowledgeable, and the prices are fair. I brought in an old mink that was worth saving (to me, at least), but it needed a lot of work. In addition to some holes, the coat was separating at the collar, and another shop probably would have sewn it shut and moved on. Instead, Sekas noticed a flaw in the construction (the collar fur was cut from the wrong part of the animal), which would have caused the seam to re-open over and over again, no matter how many times it was closed. They replaced the entire panel, matched the color perfectly, and sealed it tight. I really appreciate that the work was done right. I love this old coat, but it won't be around forever, and when it's time to replace it, I'll definitely come to Sekas for my next one. read more

I just had the best time at Sekas. Athena and Nicholas are delightful and brilliant. They really know their craft. I brought with me a pair of very old furs and their knowledge and ideas went to work on them. I heard great plans for these two items. They offered options and recommendations after carefully explaining many things. After I got excited and made great choices, I worried that the price would be way too high for all the labor involved in resurrecting the pieces, but I worried for naught. Sekas price was wonderful. When I visited Sekas International I had some early doubts because, based on their showroom, it was clear that they specialized in all types and sizes of women's furs and accessories. While consulting with Nicholas my doubts QUICKLY passed; it was clear I was in the right place with the right person for the alterations I needed done. I have a classic ginger B-3 shearling aviator's jacket I purchased from the United Kingdom. The torso of the jacket was a little too snug for my comfort when zipped shut but I was able to work with Nicholas to design a solution: the addition of heavyweight zippers to relieve tension on both sides of the waist and provide some movement. The zippers in no way compromised the overall look or integrity of the jacket and added much-needed functionality. You cannot tell the zippers were added after purchase. They were extremely professional, efficient, inexpensive and the communication was second to none! I cannot stress how happy I am with their work. I'll definitely return for future needs. COVID responsible business. When seeking a service based business you can either rely on word of mouth or dig yourself. I searched for furriers and SEKAS International came up. I reviewed their site and others. However, this one caught my eye. I even searched around for any questionable BBB issues (which there were none) and took my chance. Nicholas was beyond responsive at first inquiry. Very easy to work with and personable. More importantly he knows his stuff with furs and has been in the family business his whole life. This family run business is a gem for anyone looking to alter their own fur coat or jacket or purchase new. The cleaning and storage fee is very reasonable. I could not be happier with the whole experience. I found Sekas International by a random web search for local (NYC/NJ area within 100 miles) for need of furrier and repair. I needed to have a sheepskin custom "arty style" jacket and a long sheepskin coat resized due to 100 pound weight loss. The coat, upon inspection by Nick and myself carefully at Sekas was not in good shape, had several rips and really was not worth repair, Nick was honest enough to explain all, even though it was a loss of repair fees. However the the Jacket came out fabulously. Perfect tailoring and they really worked to make it right. I am super happy with the reasonable cost to resize and fit and outcome 100% wonderful. While browsing the extensive collection on display and " just for fun" with blessing of the owners of course, I spied a really sweet Mink Jacket, as well as other beautiful coats and jackets. Nick and Athena allowed me to explore and try on anything. Sooooo as a gift to myself, with the blessing of the fabulous husband, I end up with a new, custom made jacket in the color and design changes from sample I tried at a great price. Changes were no problem. Anything I wanted I got. To make the story better..I went in with my gorgeous tall niece for her eyes and help with fitting of new jacket and old jacket repair, and she tried on a coat in a style she has wanted for decades..white, full length MINK gorgeous coat....oh boy oh boy..was that gorgeous on her. What a charming New York experience! I was unable to find I furrier in Florida, so I brought my coat up to New York for a very minor button fix. After being turned away by others, saying that "we don't do such small jobs", Nicholas welcomed me in & offered me coffee and some great small talk. This was an outstanding experience and I have a phenomenal Russian sable fur. I wish I had written the review when I went there in Dec 2019. I went to several of the fur makers in the area, but this gentleman, Nicholas, who is the owner, was the only one who was incredibly patient, thoughtful, and took time to understand what I was looking for. He was not pushy and continued to offer options in a relaxed setting. I went there in the morning with my husband, spent hours trying on coats, and he shared the story about how he took over his father's business. I was undecided, so he suggested my husband and should get some lunch, and if my heart felt like this piece was what I truly wanted, then I could always come back. I returned that afternoon, made my decision to get a Russian sable Bolero and I have worn it on every cold occasion. I live in Virginia, the temperatures can drop. He told me how to care for my piece and even explained how I could ship my piece over to him to keep in a humidity controlled environment and then he would ship it back when I wanted it. The fur is outstanding quality, has held up and I get compliments on it all the time. The color is beautiful and the best advice he gave was to wear it as much as possible rather than lock it away in a closet. He has made a lifelong customer of me. On the way to school from Penn Station, I found this store. It was not easy to find since it was at the ninth floor, but it was worth the extra walk. An old man opened the door for me, and I explained that I came because my mom asked me to find a store that can repair a crack on her mink coat, which she treasures very much. Note: the store generally requires an appointment. But I visited the store early, and they had some time until the next appointment. When I showed the crack, they immediately knew what to do. They assured they could fix it. I went there because it had a long history in this business, and perhaps because of it, they seemed to take a great pride in what they are doing. Next day, on the way back to home, I picked up the coat, which seemed as good as new. The service was definitely not cheap. But my mom was very happy when she received her coat. I recommend this store if you have a problem with a coat that you treasure, or if you want to buy a nice coat for the winter! read more

My long time furrier retired so I found Sekas and what a disaster! I stored 8 coats with them and they ruined the sleeves of a full length mocha mink reversible coat.
