The interior is distinguished but not overly luxurious (I'd say it's a bit simpler and more rustic than one might expect from looking at it from the outside). We tried the fish of the day and a vegetarian dish and really liked it. The food was presented very nicely with dedication to details and it tasted great. Portions are not very big, but small extras ("greetings from the kitchen") which just kept appearing at our table more than compensated for that. The dessert was again very nicely presented and their homemade ice creams include some special varieties like mint sorbet (very recommended). Their choice of food is quite original for Swiss standards.

The Schwert is very unique, located on Seestrasse 29, 6442, with stunning view and attractive setting. Frau Lee makes sure all food was prepared carefully and delicious. The view is expansive and breathtaking. Our food was very good as was the service. There was a significant group there flying radio controlled gliders. The Berggasthaus is a great stepping off point to hike the Rigi.

We got a table at six, and as the other diners sat down, quickly understood that the popularity of this place was based in a solid reputation. I started with a stange lager, followed by the tomatencreuemuss (tomato bisque). So far so good. The soup was from fresh tomatoes with real cream and a shot of vodka that spiced it up just right. The I got the frischipastetli, a pot pie made with a beef and veal ragout with wild morels from the surrounding forest. The stew was well seasoned and tender, the potatoes still had their firmness, and the flaky pastel was perfect. Penny got the steinpilz ravioli, which she enjoyed. A fun family atmosphere, really good food, and kind attentive service (from people who speak at least four languages!) makes me want to go back.

Opting to sit inside, we had an outstanding view to the lively city life. We finally began to unwind from a long day, as we dined on brick oven prepared pizzas, spinach cannoloni, lasagna and tiger prawn topped noodles. After the meal was completed, we strolled back to our hotel blissfully slipping into a "carb coma" and regroup for tomorrow's excursions. Restaurant Rossini was our first fortuitous encounter in Switzerland.

There were two other tables with people of color and they seemed to receive the same treatment. What a way to ruin a travel experience. Clearly African Americans are not welcomed in Lucerne.
