I was given a boot from this company by my orthopedic doctor. I didn't receive a bill until two month later. I paid the bill with my HSA less than two weeks after receiving the bill but still received a collections call from them. They said payment is due immediately and it was past due. That is a terrible way to treat customers. I emailed the owner and his response was that I should have paid off the Explanation of Benefits I received a few weeks before the bill was processed. Their inability to bill in a timely manner does not excuse the rude treatment I received from Tiffany when she called about my "past due" payment. Their entire business model is based on not providing customers the price for a durable medical device (sling, brace, splint, etc.) and providing it to you with out any info or invoice. They then bill your insurance a crazy marked up amount and depending on your coverage and deductible maybe get paid by them. If not they now bill you the crazy marked up amount, in our case $129 for a device that is sold for $39 at retail everywhere else. If your business model relies on deception and tricking your customers into the sale you have a bad business, period. read more

I have never been to "See the Trainer," but I did receive a $79 bill for them because they are the exclusive provider for splints and braces to the urgent care down the road. I received a brace that would have cost $27 on Amazon. I wonder how many other customers became "customers" of See the Trainer because they were in pain and wanted relief and didn't think to compare prices. From what the other reviewers are saying, this place provides mediocre service at an outrageous price. I signed the paperwork authorizing the bill, so beware - if you see this BS on your bill at an urgent care, pass and buy it yourself. read more

EXPENSIVE!!! Went in for a foot splint to help with plantar fasciitis. I was relieved to have found a place to get the splint as it meant that I would be free of pain in the morning soon. The person behind the desk acknowledged I was there but was assisting someone so just said one moment. I went to look around and was assisted immediately. Overall in the service department they get 5 stars. The reason for the 3 star rating is the price of the splint. It was 45.95 with tax. When I got to my desk to check the Amazon price it was $22.63!!! I can see a small markup but almost 50% dang. I called to check the return policy and it is store credit only. Great service silly prices. Cant see returning ever again :( read more

Based on my wife's doctor's recommendation for a thumb splint, my wife went to "See The Trainer". They billed us $129 for it with no technical help other than help to put it on for the first time. We later found the same splint on Amazon for $24.99. They did bill our insurance, but the cost went to our deductible, so we are on the hook for $129. Do your research on items you need from them. There may be a lot less expensive options available. read more

I was in Omaha for the College World Series as part of a several month RV trip and because of some extended standing at a museum my hip became so painful that I was unable to get much sleep. I was able to see an orthopedic doctor and got a steroid shot, but still needed to ice the hip effectively. I could have done it with frozen peas or a commercial ice pack, but my prior experience with an ice therapy machine convinced me that was the way to go. Unfortunately my ice therapy machine was 840 miles away and I wouldn't be home for months. I called some local medical appliance suppliers, but couldn't find one who had an ice therapy machine in stock. One of the medical appliance suppliers suggested I call See The Trainer and thought they kept ice therapy machines in stock. I could have ordered from Amazon and gotten a machine in a day or two, but I was in a fair amount of pain and that had prevented me from sleeping for several nights and I wanted immediate relief. I called the See The Trainer location at 13106 W Dodge Rd, Omaha, NE and confirmed they had two different models of the Ossur Cold Rush Therapy Machine in stock. When I arrived, they brought out both machines and explained the differences in price and features of both. They didn't have the specialized pad to use on a hip, but the universal pad was workable. I bought one and had immediate relief and the first good night of sleep in days. The only negative was that I paid $200 for a machine I could have bought on Amazon for $127.49. What a terrible place to get any help for your needs. None of the people in the offices will come out to help and depend on the front desk clerk to help walk-in customers. Unfortunately, she knows nothing about the products they sell nor about orthopedic issues and how to select equipment to help them. If I come in with a request like "I have an injured PCL and am looking for a brace to help when running" and all I get is a shrug and waived over to the general direction of braces on the wall, I guess I can get the same (nonexistent) help from Amazon. Just had the worst customer service experience in my life. The owner (Maurice Maher) refused to let me return an item that did not fit, despite my purchasing it 36 hrs. before. Returns can only be made "for store credit" even though the item was paid for with my flexible spending account card. I've never seen such deceptive sales practices, probably because they know their stuff is overpriced. I've been a customer of See the Trainer before, but this was absolutely the last time. I went there to see if they had a knee brace for me. And they did, i was given 3 different ones to try on and they gave me a little common-sense advice about how they should fit and feel. So i got my brace and went home. A month later i found out that i had been charged $500 for a brace that i can get on amazon for $30. What a rip off! In July when I broke my foot I was given a sandal from my doctor at the Pawnee I got a bill from the company called "See The Trainer" in Omaha and they sent me a bill for $34.59. I just about had a fit and I looked on Amazon where I could have bought it for $10. I called the company and they said that that was what the insurance company BCBS wanted to charge. So I got on the phone with BC and I found out that the $34.59 was my co pay and the full price was $173.67 !!!!! So here is a warning if anyone ever gets injured and you need a foot support do not get one from your doctor or at least make sure you do not get one from that company, go online and buy it yourself. It is absolutely disgusting that these people get away with taking advantage of injured people and those who need medical help. I have reported them to the Better Business Bureau read more

They're shady to say the least. No upfront pricing on their merchandise and they put the onus on the customer to pay the remainder of the inflated cost after they steal from the insurance company. I left with a $7.99 elbow brace. My insurance company was soaked for $52 and I was invoiced for another $13. When I spoke with the Franchise owner about how the Bellevue office was treating me and how horrific they had been, he accused me as being the problem and proceeded to be very cruel. I told him I am sick and have cancer and just got a bad diagnosis and I don't even know if I am going to be alive in a year... is this how he wants his name and business to be represented... that if he can treat someone who is as ill as I am with such disregard and disrespect and still look at himself in a mirror, he again told me I was the evil horrible person and that cause of all the issues and then hung up on me. I would never do business with them in any way. The owner at the Bellevue office started laughing at me when I told him that CHI was responsible since the boot they gave me was defective. He said I was a liar and ridiculous. They are trying to charge me over $700 and insist that if I was not lying about the bad boot I would pay it anyway.... why would I pay for something I don't even have anymore since I took it back to the hospital? To have an owner of a business berate me and laugh at me even after telling them how cruel one of their sales clerks had been to me ... just an awful place, huge mark ups on items you can purchase for half the price elsewhere and very cruel horrible staff. Service so poor I will invest many many hours into saving others from this company. I was lied to about their return policy for a product that I later found that is 5 times the price of other stores. Morey, the owner, wouldn't work with me and even though he owns the company, "nothing I can do". I offered to pay for the product if he would work with me a little as his prices are way over industry standard. Run around after run around. Won't, can't, and sorry are all you will hear. Beware of price gouging!! My son broke his collar bone in May playing baseball. Given the urgency of the situation, we went to the emergency room at CHI's Midlands hospital in Papillion, NE. We recently received an invoice from See The Trainer for $61.83 which I thought was odd given that they weren't involved in the treatment. The charge was for a small fabric sling the the hospital used to immobilize my son's arm. Upon calling them to inquire about the charge (the exact same model is available online for purchase for $18.77) I learned that their "normal" price $79--this amount was billed to my insurance company, but negotiated down to $61.83. In my conversation with the representative from See The Trainer, I found them to be inflexible only stating that the insurance company allowed a higher price than retail, so that's what we charge. I understand that this is not a large amount of money, but I feel that it's necessary for everyone considering this firm to know that they are a contributor to what's wrong with the healthcare marketplace by exploiting a situation where we as consumers didn't have other options available to us. In this small example, they are charging 4x's what someone would pay in the open market--all because they can. If you're considering service from them, I'm sure the bill will be much higher than $61--but their business practices will no doubt be the same. Beware of over charged services and consider alternatives! read more

They claim to be driven by customer service when their clerks know absolutely nothing and have absolutely no product knowledge. When I returned something that did not work they argued that it would work and that I was wrong. I was told they can only issue in store credit because of their insurance codes. I made a retail purchase of an item that can be bought at any drug store and returned but not at See the Trainer. I am sure they put it back on their shelf and I am stuck with a worthless in store credit. Bad service and bad management. read more

Just received a collection notice for $136. After speaking with the owner, Mr. Maher, several months ago about the poor performance of a knee brace, he had agreed to write off the amount. Indicated he would back up his product and apologized for the inconvenience as we had been in several months in a row replacing it. The brace kept tearing at the seams. We even received a replacement from the manufacturer as they had sent back due to its performance. I guess he is not true to his word. We will not be back nor would I recommend. Too bad. read more

I checked on Amazon and found the same item for $11.50 I called the store and told them of the mistake and they said it was no mistake. No possibility of return. No negotiation on the price. I am not sure how the owners of See the Trainer sleep with themselves at night. Their business model is to take advantage of the health care system so that they can charge 3 to 10 times as much as their products are worth, because if you actually competitively shopped for the products they have you would find them much cheaper anywhere else. My daughter broke her arm, and after she got the cast off the doctor recommended that she wear a brace for a few weeks. He gave me one from See the Trainer and said that it would probably be about $20 - $25 ( what they actually cost). When I got the bill from See the Trainer it was for $69.99!! I was shocked. I wish I could post a pick of the brace so that you could see it was not made well, and you would agree that there is no way it was worth $69.99. I called the store about my concerns and after haggling for an hour, and explaining how I was deceived they came down to $49.99 for something that I can get anywhere else for $25. I still wasn't very pleased about this so I went to the store to talk to someone in person about the issue. The first thing I noticed when I went into the store is how nothing is priced. Not even the water bottles they have for sale. This is the main way they get away with overcharging. Simply don't have anything priced, and send the bill to the customer. I don't understand how this is a legal business model. Everywhere else I go to buy something they have to tell me the price before I buy it. Somehow they have figured out how to bill you for whatever price they feel like. Needless to say I got nowhere with the staff, and the owner wouldn't even come out to talk to me. I could see them just sitting in the office. I would avoid this place at all cost!! Anyone that gave this place a great rating doesn't understand how much they were overcharged for whatever product they bought. I went in to look for a back brace the Dr. recommended. I contacted the store by e-mail first and promptly received an e-mail from Maurice (owner) who said they carried a similar model. I went in and Dan Coates greeted us and was great to work with. He brought out several models for me to try on and worked with me to find the best fit. I asked him if I could take it to my Dr. to make sure it would be ok (because it was different than the Dr's recommendation). He stated there would be no problem. He even made it easy by saying if he didn't here from me by Friday, he would assume all was well and then charge me accordingly. He even contacted my insurance company for me (while I took the brace to my Dr.) to see what they would pay for. If you've ever dealt with insurance companies, you'll appreciate how nice it was for him to do that. He trusted me to leave with a $900 brace, call the insurance company and not bill be until I knew it was the right brace. HOW OFTEN DOES THAT HAPPEN THESE DAYS? read more

I've now been there twice to get a brace. The first time, it was a receptionist who helped me who didn't seem to understand my concern. She asked some basic questions on if I had gotten new shoes or started a new program that would be the simple answer for my pain. She also suggested "stretching" but didn't elaborate on what would be advised. I don't think she had any training or knowledge in the field. The next time I went in, I had to show a different employee how to properly do the strap on a brace. It was an ankle strap, but when she couldn't figure out how to do it, she said it was more for arch support and wrapped it around my foot. I also inquired about orthotics and questioned what level of hardness is appropriate for different conditions. She was unable to answer this as well. I am very disappointed in the lack of knowledge and training of the employees there. The prices were also steep for the mediocre quality, and they only have a seven day exchange policy with no returns on any foot products. Unfortunately, it's impossible to know the effectiveness of the product without using it as you intend to and only walking a few steps in a store with it. I won't return. read more
