Being "blessed" *ahem* with practically translucent skin and pitch black body hair (tmi? Ooooh well) the idea of laser hair removal has always seemed awesome yet totally out of my price range. When a groupon for three sessions at Sedona showed up in my inbox, I immediately started doing my research and found out that they used a Cynosure Elite laser as opposed to a kind of IPL (intense pulsed light) which is what other places I'd looked at use. After consulting the internet a bit more it sounded like "true" lasers (such as cynosure) had the best results for someone with my skin/hair type. I had to call a couple times before someone answered the phone but, when I did get through, they were able to get me in relatively quickly. They let me know before I made the appointment that I shouldn't wax or tweeze the areas to be treated (but could shave) 8 (or was it 6....) weeks beforehand and that I should stay out of the sun and not tan (easy requests for someone that burns in 5 minutes). I'd known this beforehand so I was sure to bring myself back to the razor right after I'd purchased the deal. The place itself is kind of hard to find, it's located in an office building with other small businesses. The upside to that is that there were plenty of parking spaces in the lot. It's a small office but it was clean and the gals working the front desk were pleasant. Once I'd checked in, I was handed a sheet with questions about my skin and medical history. Everything checked out A-OK and I was taken to a room where Vanessa (think that was her name?) gave me some more info and had me fill out a form specific to the laser treatment itself. She left the room to let me undress from the waist down (seriously...sorry about the tmi) and when she returned I was given goggly things to protect my eyes. The laser treatment really isn't that bad, uncomfortable but definitely less painful than waxing. Vanessa (gosh I hope I'm getting that right) let me know that if it got to be too much at any point we'd take a break and she engaged me in friendly conversation to keep my mind off things. The laser feels a bit like a rubber band snapping and the pain is eased by the cold air they blow on the area. Everything went super quickly and I think my underarms and brazilian were done in 10 minutes or less. Kind of lost track of time due to the adrenaline pumping through me. After I was done she ran through the do's and don'ts of how to take care of the areas and let me know when I could come back in for the next session (8 weeks later). No complaints here! Looking forward to completing my hair removal quest with Sedona. read more

The staff is friendly, professional, and makes what might otherwise be an unnerving treatment (you are putting that laser where??) a breeze. I visited Sedona Skin Spa in February to redeem a Crowd Cut voucher, so my familiarity with the facility, its operations and its staff was next to nil. In fact, I had only taken a cursory glance at the website upon purchasing the voucher and had asked the staff a few questions by phone. My appointment was intended to be a consultation to determine my candidacy for laser hair removal of my beard, though I wanted to get the ball rolling to rid myself of the course, unruly facial hair that has plagued me for much of my adult life. So I asked Renee Ryski, my treating RN/technician, if I could proceed with a first treatment. She consented to doing that. Renee was fun, a bit sassy but also skilled at what she does. At times, she did not delve into the depth and detail that I would have liked regarding the general procedure and how it would affect my skin; she simply assured me everything would turn out right. And fortunately, a few weeks after my first procedure, my hair is gentler and grows more slowly. I was naturally a bit red and irritated for a few days after the procedure, but a friendly phone call to Renee assured me that this was normal and that the swelling should subside. Lo and behold, I began to see great results after my third day. My skin has suffered NO pigmentation issues or burns/scarring. After five more of these treatments, I should be witnessing even better results. The key is to protect the skin from the sun and other invasive procedures, like plucking or waxing, both before and after treatments to produce the best results. Sedona Skin Spa has a small but handsome office location just across from Southdale in Edina. The center offers two different lasers, both of which are top-of-the-line and deep-penetrating, as opposed to IPL (intense pulsed light), which is common at most laser facilities. The staff is friendly and seemingly experienced at what they do and the facility offers a full panoply of skin services, beyond laser hair removal. I can't speak to those, but it seems like a fairly full-service spa. read more

I had laser hair removal done at Sedona a few years ago and I go back every now and then for a touch up. If you are considering laser hair removal, definitely go for it. Sedona works to make it affordable and the technicians are professional and knowledgeable. The facility is super clean and spa-like. I've never had a bad experience! Plus...laser hair removal works. A great investment in my opinion. Once you complete your treatment you can get touch ups - if needed - for half price. Sedona is always running specials as well. Appointments can be booked online which I appreciate. Laser hair removal itself is pretty much painless, maybe a slight sting, but much less painful than waxing. Cold air is blown over your skin to minimize discomfort. read more

I called Sedona Skin Spa today, intending to request a September appointment with THE most faithful and longstanding employee Renee and found out that she is being moved to a new office in Mendota Heights. WHAT!?!??! I'm extremely disappointed that the person who has pulled in so many new clients to the Edina office is being moved. She IS the reason I go to Sedona, the reason why I've recommended her to many of my friends (and the reason THEY go there). There is NO ONE that is more personable, understanding, TALENTED, and friendly. I've been going to Sedona for 4 or 5 years now, when I first found that office online via google, I called asking about various treatments (scared to death) and spoke with Renee. She had me come in for a consultation and I was instantly put at ease. The office at that time was small and since then, the office has boomed - no doubt in my mind it's because of Renee. It's unfortunate that my friends and I will likely discontinue going to Sedona if Renee is moved. It's fantastic that the office is expanding and I fully support it, however it's my firm opinion that you keep Renee where she continues to bring in business and, more importantly is highly regarded as the BEST in the area. Take a couple other well trained staff members - that don't have such a loyal following - and move them to the new office. Leave Renee where we need her PLEASE!!!! She deserves to stay in the office that SHE'S built up an extremely large clientele in!!! read more

I felt totally at ease and had all my questions answered. The procedure was really relaxing and the results were amazing. Afterwards I felt no pressure to purchase additional services. I've been getting laser hair removal on my bikini area, and about halfway through the treatments. I've seen quite a difference, and it's definitely been worth the money! Renee has been the one to do my treatments, and she's SO nice and easy to talk to during what would otherwise have been a semi-uncomfortable situation (although all the staff I've seen in the office seem to be really pleasant). The laser does sting a little bit -- probably the equivalent to getting a shot at the doctor's office -- but between holding conversations, the cool air that the use, and fidgeting to distract myself, it's super manageable. I would absolutely recommend Sedona, and will probably invest in my underarms next. :) read more

I got 6 treatments done in armpit area.They did tell me it would take 6 to 8. It did not work! After 6 treatments I have as much as I have at the beginning. Well, now I am going somewhere else and I can tell what happened. The woman who does my treatment now wears gloves and a mask. This does not happen at Sedona. The machine looks way more sophisticated than Sedona. And the process is longer, even though it still takes a few minutes, but I can tell I am getting a more detailed treatment. I know this time it will work. Just be aware of Sedona, maybe their machines are not that great. Did not work for me and I spent a lot of money. read more

I had laser hair removal on my underarms done last year. I went in with a Groupon, and each time I renewed, they let me use the original groupon price, which was awesome because the price for the underarms actually went up from $99 to $125 for 3 sessions. I had 9 treatments, each one took just minutes to complete, and at this point the hair is baby fine. I do still shave, but maybe once a month and the hair literally cannot be seen by just looking in my bathroom mirror. Only if I look directly at it to shave, but still... it may be baby fine but it grows. It's next to white though - the lasers would likely never pick it up. I'm getting my legs and bikini done next. Staff was more than friendly, and a helpful hint to all of you thinking about this... ask them to go over the area twice. They are happy to accommodate, and it ensures no hairs are missed during that treatment. I would give them 6 stars if possible! read more

I have been getting laser hair removal on my underarms for a few months now. I love going to Sedona Skin Spa! It is a quiet and relaxing atmosphere and the staff is great. They seem really knowledgeable about the services they are providing. The treatments are quick which helps with any pain from the laser, but yet the technicians always make sure they've answered all of my questions (not rushing me out the door). I have had 3 treatments so far on bikini & underarm. I have had treatments by 2 different techs and they have always been very nice and professional. As expected the laser does offer a little sting, but cold air blows while the treatment is being done to make the sting more manageable. I purchased a LivingSocial deal for microdermabrasion, after having some great sessions at another place. The other skin spa spends an hour with you, of which the atmosphere is much like getting a massage; undress and wrap yourself up in a fluffy white bathrobe then relax in a dimly lit room with incense and relaxing sounds of nature while the technician works FOR AN HOUR on you. Tonight I was in and out within 30 min; no fluffy bathrobe, sterile bright lights blazing overhead, and about 15 min spent on the actual procedure which did include relaxing sounds of nature in the background but were difficult to hear over the constant talking the tech did. It was harsh (ok, it's not the most soft/gentle kind of skin treatment) and at one point as my eyes watered she asked if I needed a tissue and then didn't have any in the room and handed me a cotton pad. I was SO let down. I still tipped (1/2 what I normally would) and purchased some eye cream - but I WILL NOT GO BACK. I got what I paid for I guess - not a full treatment, the value was definitely half priced. I'd gladly go back to ReJuv and pay full price. read more

I had a disappointing experience with them losing track of my payment by misspelling my name and putting my credit on a different file. It took quite some time to resolve and caused me a bit of stress in the process. Thankfully they figured what had been done and saved me from losing my money and my desire to keep being a client. Sedona Skin and Spa is clean and the staff is friendly, but I would not go back for further treatments. I purchased a Groupon for 3 treatments for two different areas and twice I had to be rescheduled due to a broken laser. However, they did provide me with an additional free treatment because my 2nd appointment kept getting rescheduled further and further away from my initial treatment. I scheduled appointments based around my work schedule and on 2 different occasions the time of the appointment had changed anywhere from 15-30 minutes from the original appointment time I had been given. While I have gotten results from the treatments, I was disappointed that I was not with the same staff member for each treatment. The first 2 treatments were with the same person and then the 3rd treatment was with another staff member even though the staff member that had done the first 2 treatments was working the check-in desk. Considering I was receiving a full bikini treatment I would have preferred the same staff person for all of the treatments versus 3 different people over the course of my 4 visits. read more
