One year later my truck has the same front end issue... so I took it to a different shop in town. They inspected the truck and told me it still has the original factory axles that came in it. New CV-axle and truck works great now. Do not trust Fitzsimmons Garage. They will lie to you and charge you for work that isn't being done.

My wife went there because her car broke down and she needed a full inspection to diagnose the problem. The car was towed there based on a recommendation from a friend. Unfortunately, our friend didn't realize the ownership had changed and that the garage is now under new management--otherwise they would never have recommended this place. From the moment my wife arrived, it felt like she was completely taken advantage of, especially since she was there alone. What should have been a straightforward visit to fully inspect and diagnose why the car broke down turned into a series of additional work orders and inflated charges. The first inspection they performed concluded that the battery needed to be replaced. We purchased a battery from Costco and paid the garage for the labor to install it, which initially seemed reasonable. They told my wife the car was running fine. However, after she paid and went outside to start the car, the car wouldn't even turn on. She went back inside and told them. They tried starting it themselves and couldn't get it to start either. At that point they said they would take the car back into the shop to see what the problem was. A few hours later they called and suddenly claimed the fuel pump was the issue, providing a very expensive quote to repair it. At that point I told my wife to have the car towed home so I could look into it myself when I return to town. That's when things got even more frustrating. The garage told us we had to pay an additional inspection fee before we could take the car. We were both shocked. This should have been diagnosed during the original inspection, not after charging us for installing a battery that didn't even fix the problem. It felt like they knowingly added another inspection fee simply because they assumed we wouldn't proceed with the repair there. This extra charge was never disclosed or discussed beforehand. I called the garage to question this charge, and the person I spoke with just kept rambling and making excuses, trying to justify why this counted as a completely separate inspection. No one should have to worry about being treated unfairly just because they walk into a shop alone. An honest business would clearly explain the issue, provide transparent pricing, and treat every customer with respect. Unfortunately, that was not our experience here. I would strongly recommend that people in Peterborough think twice before going to Fitzsimmons Garage. There are plenty of other honest shops that will treat customers fairly instead of taking advantage of them. Shame on you, Fitzsimmons.

NOT TRUSTWORTHY…read more "Avoid This Shop for Safety Checks!" Took my Lancer to Master Mechanic for a safety check, and it was an absolute nightmare. Halfway through, they called to tell me they couldn't find my wheel lock key and said they'd only charge me an hour's labor because they cannot complete the safety che k without it. I told them the wheel lock key was in the glove box, but they refused to check. I ended up paying $120 for an hour of labor and now they expect me to return and pay $169 again for the safety check. All because they didn't bother looking where I told them the key was and saw a young kid they could scam another 120$ from. This isn't the first time either. They pulled a similar stunt with my Mustang last summer and I ended up having it scrapped. when they were called on it. There was "nothing they could do" Lesson learned.
