After setting a time with them, they called three hours early--while I was at work--to ask if the repair person could come at that moment. "Of course not" was the reply. They refused to send their COI, as instructed, directly to my building's management company. Incapable of entering an email address, I guess. When I finally passed on the COI, the management company told me they did not have the proper umbrella liability insurance and workers comp. I passed this on. JC ignored what I had written in the email and just sent the COI again with no explanation. So then I had to call them and they told me they don't have workers comp or umbrella liability which is something most buildings in New York ask for. So then I had to cancel the repair. Wasted a couple days on this, so at least now you don't have to.

He communicated clearly ahead of the visit and again on the day of service, even updating me when his schedule opened up and he was able to arrive earlier than expected--which I really appreciated. Once here, Garrett quickly identified the root cause of the issue and thoughtfully walked through how it was affecting other components of the unit, which helped explain several problems that we had been experiencing with our new fridge/freezer. His attention to detail and depth of knowledge really stood out. To ensure everything was handled correctly, he even contacted the manufacturer directly and consulted with one of their engineers to confirm his diagnosis and repair plan, as well as to gather the exact part numbers needed. That level of thoroughness gave me a lot of confidence. As a final touch, he made sure to wipe down the fridge freezer before leaving so there were no fingerprints or mess left behind--such a small detail, but it speaks volumes about his professionalism. We had an unusual problem, with no obvious solution. Above the electric stove top on our kitchen…read moreisland there is an old (Zephyr) range hood with a glass canopy that had been installed too low and intrusive, at least relative to the location of my head when cooking. We had hoped to be able to lift the whole thing a few inches, but had no idea how. Enter Eliot from Applicare. He pondered the situation, consulted a printout of the manufacturer's docs, and discussed with us. The conclusion was that we could probably just eliminate the canopy and retain the key functionality of the hood. 90 minutes of hard work ensued, mostly by him, but ably assisted by my wife and (occasionally) me, and it was done! The charge was entirely reasonable, and we'd be happy to engage him again. And he's a character!
